Hello everyone,

I've released the demo for Vocal Horror Stories - GAJA, a voice-interactive psychological horror game set during the COVID lockdown in Chennai, India.

You play as Shivani, a young woman investigating the disappearance of her mother while struggling with phonophobia. As you search for clues, your mysterious elephant-headed roommate, Gaja, is trying to convey something to you!

What makes the game unique is that your microphone is part of the gameplay. What you say can affect the protagonist's anxiety and influence the environment around you.

I really enjoyed it! It was so simple and fun. I'm impressed with how you were able to create a city with buildings and a driveable vehicle in just a week. However, I slightly found it difficult to understand the game until I read your game's page for the instructions. It would be great if you could add in the instructions on the menu screen.

Wow! First of all, thank you so much for your detailed review, and so sorry for being late in responding to you. I'm playing your game right now and took a screenshot of your review too. I went through all your points. As you said, I'll make a tutorial, which will help you familiarize yourself with the mechanic and even provide some context behind what is happening. I agree with the SFX. Honestly, I forgot adding the sound effects for footsteps and the character switch. I'll patch it in the update. Regarding the main menu, yeah, I wanted to drop some notes within the game but could just come up with the lazy menu since I had just one day left. About the purpose of the game, true, I will first think of how I am going to progress the levels further and come up with an interesting end goal. Finally, thanks for your kind words and taking your valuable time to notice all these. As you rightly pointed out, I focused on the mechanic so that it kinda stands out from all the other submissions, since I was definitely not gonna be able to make a richer game like the others. Oh. That's alright. I should've made the goal more clearer, as some of the comments said. The goal is to kill both of them at the same time. I'll rework on the level design and add a tutorial once the jam ends. Thanks for playing it though!

Very creative level designs. I was shocked when the other character was crushed lol. And the meta moment in the ending cracked me up. Good attempt for 1 week.

Nice game and concept! Gave me Among Us vibes. I liked the ship's design, the aesthetic, and the music. However, I was finding it difficult to perform tasks in bigger areas like the reactor at 5. I couldn't interact with the objects at all over there.

Thanks for the detailed feedback! I was planning on making a tutorial or a cutscene before the level loads. Unfortunately, I couldn't. That could've definitely made it more playable!
