Very cool and creepy game bro! , and the art is amazing .
Great work !!
Also, how are you doing these days ? I have noticed you haven't been very active recently
Very cool concept, well executed!!
And even though I don't usually enjoy this kind of game, I really had a fun time!
But I think I'm pretty bad at it... it took me over 22 minutes to beat, haha XD
The art is cool, the music is nice, and it has some great polishing touches.
I did have an issue where I couldn't see the very top of the screen, so adding a fullscreen mode would be nice (you can also enable the "fullscreen button" in the itch project settings ).
Overall , great work !!
Thanks for your kind words !!! Glad you liked it.
Yeah, about the hurt boxes… I did that because of how the boxes work. Basically, when the hurt box detects a wall, it checks if the velocity vector length is greater than 50 .. if yes, the box gets destroyed; if not, it lands safely. Why 50? That was for the freeze bullets. The idea was that you could keep shooting the box when it gets too close to the ground to prevent it from being destroyed.
But because of the way Godot handles area detection and physics, the hurt box detects the wall 2–3 frames after the wall has already entered it. By that time, the object has already collided with the wall or ground and its velocity is zero… so it never gets destroyed. I discovered this the hard way, two days into development.
At first I thought it was a problem with my code, so I rewrote a lot of things, cleaned it up, and wasted a full day tweaking settings and searching for answers.
After that, I thought of a lot of solutions , but most of them would’ve required a ton of work , becuase I was originally planning to add three types of boxes, two of which could rotate. In the end, I only added one rotating box. Anyway, since I didn’t want to waste the a lot of the jam time on a single problem, I just made the hurt box a little bigger. From my testing, I didn’t think it would interfere with the game that much… but I probably should’ve tested it with other people. 😅
very great and well made game !!
it took me a while to finish and it was quite challenging , but in a good way .. I think it's the perfect difficulty for me , but maybe too much for a lot of others , I really enjoyed jumping around the house like any normal fish would.
the game looks nice, the music and sfx are very good and match's the game vibe .
the main menu had a problem in full screen mode , but it worked fine when I made the screen smaller , also the UI can use more polish , I have no further suggetions
This is one of the most enjoyable games I’ve played in this jam. Well done!
A really, really great game , I love it ! It looks and sounds amazing.
That said, I think it has one major flaw: once you run out of medicine, it's game over.
I played the game twice. The first time, I got stuck in the room with a door and a button you're supposed to stand on. I was stuck there for about 5 minutes, then restarted from the beginning and realized there was a hidden room with a box inside it.
The second time, I played for almost 13 minutes. I ended up spending all my medicine in the room with the floating platforms (the one in the screenshots, I think). After reaching the door, I realized it was closed because there was a box on the other side that I hadn't seen. And since I couldn't remember the exact positions of the real platforms, I eventually quit. I was honestly really sad I couldn't finish it , I was enjoying it that much.
Overall, the parkour sections were solid and the puzzles are good .
Also, I'm genuinely surprised this is your first game jam. Great work!
simple yet very cool idea , I really like it !!
the sfx and music are great they really match the game's vibe . as for the graphics , even though they look nice, the sprites don't blend together very well, which makes the game look a bit cheap ( even though it isn't )
also it would be cool if the buttons have keyboard shortcuts (like 1, 2, 3) instead of having to move the mouse to each one .
but overall I had fun playing this ! , also the splash screen is goated :D
Very cool concept—it fits the theme well and I had some fun!
But as others pointed out… it has some problems. The character moves too fast, which makes controlling it a bit difficult, and the SFX keep glitching.
But overall, for your first game jam? Good submission!
Also, a personal question if you don't mind… Have you ever joined an Arabic game jam called 'Sop Game Jam' before?
I agree—making it easier allows more people to enjoy it.
Yeah, synergies are a super essential part of any deck-building game. For example: a "Super Rock" card that also works like a normal rock, but can destroy any other card. Maybe it becomes more powerful the more rocks you have in your hand—encouraging the player to collect as many rocks as possible.
Or a card that destroys your own cards, which sounds bad… but you could pair it with another card that gives you +10 coins when destroyed , also a card that doubles the money you earn in a round ( giving the player the option to farm coins during early rounds )
I could keep going, but it really depends on what kind of gameplay you want to build and what your vision is for the game .
Do you want to add other card types? Things that work completely differently from what you have now—like spells that don't destroy opponent cards in the traditional way? For example: a card that lets you draw two cards (even if your hand exceeds the max hand size), or a card that does the same thing to your opponent.
Do you want to add more mechanics to the battle system you already have?
also your game nature ( being a incremental game ) make it unique and very diffirent than other deck builders
Honestly, my ideas might not even fit your game. I think that's something you never really know until you test it out .
Hope that helps you somehow. I once tried making a deck-building top-down shooter myself… so I really dove deep into the genre and fell in love with it.
Thanks for the detailed feedback !!
I'm really impressed that you continued playing the game even after getting stuck on a level , thats mean a lot to me and I'm really happy you liked it !!
Yeah, I loved the idea of making the main menu and settings out of the ordinary, so that's what I did.
Do you have any suggestions that could improve the gameplay experience?
Very cool and polished game!!
Super addictive, even though I found no real challenge in it. The SFX and music are very nice, and the art is quite impressive... but I didn't really catch the connection with the theme 😅
I love the take on rock paper scissors! That said, I think what's missing is card synergies—making cards benefit from each other's effects. That would add a nice strategic layer to the game. Just my personal opinion, though; maybe that wasn't what you were going for.
Anyway, really great submission! I had a lot of fun playing it.
I tried to give every game I rate some helpful feedback ..
but this? The music, the art, the SFX, and the concept—all of them are tied together perfectly !! .
at first I didn't understand what wooden utensil meant .. but I don't care , and I have nothing to say but 'Excellent travail ' sir !!
(I don't know French, but I think that's how it's pronounced)
I really loved the idea , and the puzzles are nice .
but the charcater - as others mention - is a bit hard to control and the movement need some polish
adding coyote time ( letting the player jumb after leaving the platformer for short amount of time something like 0.3 second) , variable jumb high also making the player collision a bit smaller would really help the game a ton.
the art is very cool
over all good submittion !
that's my type of game! I really like hard platformers, and not too long ago I finished the White Palace in Hollow Knight—this really reminded me of it.
It took me a while to get the hang of the controls, but once I did, I was locked in. However, I think the input timer for moves could be more forgiving. Sometimes it felt like I pressed the buttons at the right time, but the game didn't register it. After playing for a while, I quit out of frustration, but I might come back to finish it later. I'll let you know if I do! :D
The game looks unique and cool. The music really helped build the atmosphere, and the variable jump height and camera movement were nice touches.
I'd suggest removing the player's acceleration and deceleration, as that made jumping onto small platforms feel harder than it should be , also some sfxs would make the game feel more alive .
But overall, a great submission!!
a really cool concept, but I found out that dragging the shapes into the holes is faster and easier than using the belt. Also, the building system is a little bit confusing with so many mechanics explained at once.
I think teaching the player the mechanics slowly during the game would help a lot with that. Also, for the left-click controls , we could use shortcuts with number keys (1: building mode, 2: dragging mode, etc.) .
I really liked the music and how the game looks in general.
overall good submission!
looks and sounds cool , the concept is nice
However, the game is currently completely unplayable on high refresh rate screens. My monitor is 144Hz; the game speed was running really fast until I lowered it to 60Hz, at which point everything worked correctly.
This is a common issue fixed by implementing "delta time" in your game's physics and movement calculations. It's a very important topic that ensures game speed is independent of the player's frame rate , Therefore, all players will have the same experience with your game . A quick search will show you how to implement it .
I really liked the music and sfxs .. also the game has some level of polish
another thing : it's not completly clear when should I jumb .. or not , so thats lead to me lossing every time
overall , good submittion and good luck with your future projects
what a very well made game !!
it's a very smart take on the theme . the sfx , the visuals and the relaxing background music all are amazing .
it took me a while to exactly understand what I was supposed to do , so maybe adding a small tutorial would help ( I was dumb to the point I didn't know if I should sort the books from the higher values to the lower ? or the other way around XD ) , but anyway I really had a great time .
and as someone else pointed out it was really hard to notice some info like the series order .
Iam really amazed by how polished this game is . overall a really great submission !!
HI
I used some of your music in my game jam game :
https://uto-pix-studio.itch.io/put-it-there
very great music by the way !
great job for your first jam !
missing a lot of things to be honest ...try adding screen shake, sfxs ( shoots , move , zombies ) , simple music looping in the background , button show some change ( like scale up ) when got hovered .. all of that make the game feel more alive , and the beauty in this ? adding those things don't take a lot of time but make it 10 times better.
also try making the main gameplay loop inspired by the theme not just the story .. that will also improve your rating.
please don't take my words as criticism ... Iam saying things I have learnt through my journey and my only goal is to help.
and as I have said for your first game jam that is an amazing work !!! , good luck in your next jam
What a great game ! the concept is cool and unique, and the visuals and SFX are really stunning .
I had a lot of fun until the game randomly froze on level 5 , I tried multiple times, but every attempt ended with the same result. Is there a known bug, or am I doing something wrong? (For reference, I'm using Firefox and played the web version.)
I will hold off on rating it for now, and I hope you respond to my comment .
