Were doing an autobattler that uses Multi-Phase Graph Traversal programming paradigms to simulate connections in a robot. Perhaps that might peak your interest. Essentially it would be 3 maps structural, data, and power. Each one would check the nodes upon it's destruction and bubble up either disabling, destroying, or debilitating the nodes that lose one of the structures. I haven't used this before so I could use someone on the team who might be more familiar with Euler's theorem and working in Graph Traversal if that's something you have some scope of knowledge in. Otherwise I might be working on that stack myself.

edit: forgot to drop my discord: .scottjones

I sent you a friend request before I saw you were looking for paid work. Were a small team without revenue so I can't offer compensation. If you'd like to work with us though we could really use somebody who has firebase experience. My eyes lit up when I saw that in your post. Anywho you'll see me in your discord pending friend request as .scottjones if your not interested sorry I bothered you! Have a good day.

Hi there, I don't wanna bother you as I'm not offering any pay. But we are a small, focused team with clear goals. A bunch of struggling artists and if your not getting any gig work. I'd like to talk with you personally about joining our team. I'd like someone who's really familiar with setting up SO Event Channels, and doing State Machines all in a very decoupled framework. Trying to avoid a lot of spaghetti code. If your not interested in working with others towards a similar objective and you need the monetary compensation I don't blame you. This is hard work and not for everyone. But if you need to scratch the itch you can message me through my discord .scottjones

Hi Mike, I'm doing some hard digging and flipping through people I've worked with in the past. What I'm generally looking for is a partnership with someone else driven to make games and work in tandem. I can do Art and have many Art related contacts (too many) but I don't have capital. I'm also in my 30's with a family and I'm the lead tech for our service company so I'm generally busy every day. Yet still I'm able to contribute a lot into projects. I have documentation on a game I'm excited to work on. But what's more important is I'm really looking for another technical mind to work with. Someone that can see scope issues, figure out design patterns that are effective with, and have creative back and forth dialogue, and genuine friendship in building games and sharing success. If that's perhaps what your looking for I'd like you to add me and we can talk some more. My Discord is .scottjones I'd be happy to hear from you thanks!

I forgot to mention the swear word that comes with working on this team Rev-Share. I'm not going to bother writing up a contract agreement, because until we have a working prototype we really have nothing. What you will have is practical knowledge and a experience in working in a team, but this comes at the cost of a glorified internship. I understand the ridiculousness and presumption involved because I'm willing to do this for others.  But I figure I'd rather hold the cards then trust someone else to hold them. So, if this is a dealbreaker for you I won't waste your time and I wish you well. I will say if you are still interested you are probably like me and I'd like to talk to you, let's make games, let's make money doing it, and let's be friends.

Hi I'm Scott Jones I'm a solo Developer that's been at this song and dance for about 6 years now. In the time that I've been working I've jumped platforms challenged my knowledge and have built up a number of skills to a professional level. I love building games and I do it for the love of the game pun intended.

I know that these sort of situations are pipe dreams. I don't think this post will be successful in finding the kind of folks I'm looking for, but I'm going to try just the same.

What I'm looking for:

Programming experience in C# with a solid foundation in at least one of the following disciplines and the ability to expand existing knowledge.

UI/UX design

Multiplayer Systems

Item/Inventory design

Backend systems server queries SQL.

Graphics/Shaders

3D Level Design

Illustration

Please in addition understand Scriptable Objects(SO) within the Unity framework. If your not familiar you will be asked to get familiar quickly. For your benefit as a professional, and our benefit in working with you.

Multiple disciplines are not necessary I'm perfectly capable of learning a deeper knowledge in any of this for the current project but I'm looking to save time in development by working with others and building professional relationships. This is online, lives are hectic, language barriers exist, living situations can be tense. I'm a 37 year old husband/father that works a full time job and does all this on the side so I understand. What I do ask is if you have the means to work on games  10-20 hours a week as a side hustle that you enjoy, that we join forces and see what we can make happen. I'm very driven although worked to the bone, so while I will be putting in my more then fair share of work I do want that in return. I'm looking to keep the team somewhere between 5-10 folks. A GDD is written, software topology is actively being worked on and I'm truly excited to work on this. We tentatively have placed the Prototyping stage at a 4 month production.  So far it's just me, a modeler/ 3 year experience dev, and another who's interested that works mostly in Sound Design. While I think they are enthusiastic I know in order to hit this 4 month time we are going to need some folks who have experience in some of these avenues.

About the game: Design is still open at this point we do have a GDD and a central idea with mechanics that look solid. But I want everyone on the project to have some creative input to drive this game forward.  So we will be holding meetings and have a discord where information and assets can be freely exchanged and communication can be simplified. I'll consider working with something like Trello to keep members on task, but that usually has ended with me doing a lot of work for no reason while no one checks the board until I tell them to, so I'd leave that up to decision. The game is a Multiplayer Online Asynchronous Auto Battler, with mechanics similar to Bazaar but with a Battlebots meets Reel Steal sort of theme going on. Players will Shop, Build their Bots, Gamble and Invest, then fight there machinations in player driven combats automated. How this is accomplished can be explained if programmers and designers show interest. It sounds a bit more complicated without reading the docs. But the game idea should be within scope.

If you are an Artist, Sound Designer, Writer, etc. These are things were not looking for right now, they may be things we outsource for, or if we decide to grow the team we'll reach out at that point. But it's too early to look for any of this currently because the nature of these things is constant and changing and I don't want anyone doing unnecessary work.  Anyway thank you for your time in reading this and best wishes to all who put a lot of work out there to make games happen.

Looking for some additional artists to help out with our roguelike deckbuilder tactics game. Were 9 months in and so far all the art has been done by me. Your esthetic would fit nicely in, although it's Kaiju themed. Essentially I'm looking for someone to give me illustrations for story beats used to select the progressing story.  You would have access to the story, and character bios, and dialogue being written for characters and if possible I could use help in some of the other departments of animation and art, if this sounds like something you'd be interested in doing you can add me on Discord I'm @ .scottjones     Thanks for your time and I hope you find what you were looking for, I enjoy your art.

Hi there Carlos, Were looking to tighten up our demo create SO's, fix some bugs, get our systems all up and running and get the first chapter completed. We've been at this for 9 months started with nothing. Now were getting real close in finishing things up and I wanted to bring on another programmer to help my lead in finishing up the prototype. If things work out good we'd like to keep you on the team if we access publishing funds or get the project kickstarted.      About the project: Unity, Roguelike Deckbuilder with Tactics elements. Isometric art style combat happens on a tactics style grid. Cards are played from your hand to handle actions stamina determines how many actions/movement a unit can handle in a turn.  The theme is Kaiju, you play as a monster who's awoken after a millennia of sleep, and take on a variety of forces to gain dominion over the Earth once more. Backed by an Old God who promises power in exchange for destruction the kaiju mutates and gains new skills and stats as the game progresses.  Anyhow if your interested you can accept the friend request I sent you on discord. We can get into talks about specifics.

Hi Alan, were 9 months in development and what I'm mostly looking for is someone to handle some of the stage building in our games. I can do it myself but my time is split amongst alot of stuff and I'm more so creating tools for others to do the work for me.  Basically you would be editing and adding SO in the project and I'd give you proper documentation to make that happen. There would be coding opportunities too, but a lot of the systems are already built so in order to easily get you into the current project I'd keep it pretty simple. My discord is .scottjones I communicate through there for team members. If your interested please add me and we can talk.

I need lots of 2d work for a roguelike deckbuilder it's kaiju themed kind of quirky if your interested my discord is .scottjones I'd fully credit all your work at the very least.

I'm looking for a artist to throw on our team. I have a lot of art that needs to get done and I'm pretty busy most of the time. I could see it getting done in vector or pixel art. I'm more of a pixel artist than vector animations but I'm open to both approaches. It's a kaiju themed deckbuilder with tactical elements. if your interested we could discuss the project further over discord.  .scottjones

I really like your illustrations if you'd wanna do something in the 2D space were building a deckbuilder with rogue-like and tactics elements. We'll need someone to do environments and I need a lot of card illustrations. The subject matter is Kaiju (large Monsters like godzilla) if it's something you'd be interested in doing. We can talk more.

Hi Grace I'm Scott, I liked your portfolio, I'll be a little blunt so as not to waste your time or mine. At this time it would be unpaid, as  I believe most of these itch.io teams are working without pay.  Also overlooking your style it might not be something your entirely comfortable with, all the same I'd like to see if you'd be interested in challenging yourself and giving it a shot anyway. I need illustrations and I work 2 jobs so most of them won't be coming from me. The subject matter is Kaiju, were leaning into campiness of the old Toho films. The game is a rogue-like deckbuilder. I have a GDD you can look over if your interested, my discord is .scottjones

thank you for your time Grace and I wish you well.

Were looking for an illustrator for our kaiju themed roguelike deckbuilder.  If you'd be interested in doing some work in that subject area i think youd be a good fit with your art style. I'm the lead designer you can contact me on Discord @ .scottjones if you are interested.

Hi I am Scott Jones and I'm the lead designer of the small team Die Trying Productions that is putting together our prototype for a roguelike deckbuilder.  As of right now Our team consists of a lead programmer, ux/ui graphics programmer, and myself. I've been pushing out Placeholder art, reviewing code, playtesting, and designing for the game. I'm looking for an artist interested in old kaiju films that has a flair for monster illustrations. I'll most likely still be doing the pixel art for the game but I'd like a dedicated illustrator to work on the project.

It's unpaid currently but I suppose you could say this is a rev share opportunity. I plan to compensate the team upon sales or publishing. If it doesn't work out you'll still be credited and have ownership over your assets. If this opportunity interests you message me on Discord .scottjones  I will get back to you I would like a portfolio or atleast an illustration or two to make sure your a good fit for the project, hope to hear from you and thanks for reading.

Hi there our project is starting up soon and I wouldn't mind picking up someone with a focus in sound. I like your musical taste. As a disclaimer it's a game with kaiju as a reference but we can talk about it more if your interested. my discord is .scottjones I'll be off tomorrow so it'll be a good time to reach me. If not just leave a message and I'll get back to you.

Thanks

You can hit up my Discord @ .scottjones I'm looking for a level designer and a systems programmer for a game I'm building in Unity. I'm hoping for members that would like to stick around and work on more projects together in the future.

So, I understand what your bringing to the table you plan on taking a production manager position. That can be useful, Have you worked with Monday before? Also what could me and my team expect as far as paying for your services. I'm in the midst of putting a team together and building my prototype. I've been hashing out my GDD and determining the cost and timeline of the project. What I'm unsure of is if I could fit another person to handle this for me so I can focus on making the game. If it's something we could work out I'd be interested in talking with you more about it.

(1 edit)

I'll add you, I've been doing all the sound currently but I might be able to commission work later. It would probably be more sfx and the like though.

edit: I don't have any new requests btw.

Syncopatient is a rhythm action platformer with roguelike elements. A blend of maintaining rhythm, with platformer controls, You play as a musician losing control, sleep deprived from the metronome that incessantly keeps them awake in their mind. In the dreams cape you take on a heroic identity fighting the note mares and lost musicians through time to eventually encounter the Beat Mapper a timeless god. semi-lovecraftian with a vaporwave esthetic and glitch pop tunes driving the esthetic vector art is transposed over procedurally generated maps.

What I'm looking for:

programmer/dev systems-

this roll will handle state machines, procedural generation of maps, and watcher observer patterns, and be in charge of the programming structure of the project . Planning out how systems work together to be responsive and neat.

skills necessary:

c# proficiency

Unity experience

intermediate to advanced level of algorithmic structures

structured approach to working

able to deliver on a schedule and  iterate in an agile environment.

programmer/technical/graphics lead-

technical lead will handle the handshake between gameplay systems and the user, UI/UX design, post processing, and curating with the lead developer skills and balancing for the game. Some overlap in art areas. Such as handling the animator (not rigging).

skills necessary:

c# proficiency

koreographer experience a big +

shaders experience a plus

an eye for esthetics

teamwork and communication in an agile environment.

Able to maintain core pillars and advocate against scope creep.

More positions may open up for this project as completion of the prototype comes to an end. If interested please DM and friend me on Discord .scottjones and we can talk about the roll desired.  portfolio work is appreciated but not necessary. Neither is a resume. This is currently an unpaid project looking for funding. Upon acceptance of a roll  fair monetization of work can be negotiated. At this time all rolls are to be assumed revshare with the possibility of monthly salary upon publisher involvement. Thank you for your time.

edit: Currently working on the GDD, will post link when it is finished document will outline costs and an overview of the project including software schematics. graphics, and sound design.

I suppose I wasn't very specific in my intentions in creating this post. Yes I'm looking for others to work with. What I really need is a systems programmer to help me in either finishing my working title in Unity. Or for a small team looking for one of my skills. I can program, illustrate, animate, design, project plan, etc.

If your a solo developer like me, and looking to design, or project plan, and want someone to manage for free, I'm not it.  If you are looking for a partner or 3rd+ for your team I might be interested. My discord if you want to reach out is .scottjones

I am sorry I didn't write this post with a little more intent behind it. I think I was just trying to get a feel for the active help wanted community.  Also I hope your games get the love and attention they need. This is a hard profession, and a difficult venture.  I think I might just post a help wanted ad in here and update it with what I'm looking for. Thank you for reaching out.

I like the portfolio shows you have done a lot of varied work and you understand how to organize your code. I'd be interested in working with you. I don't generally like working in Isometric or 3D but I'd be willing to work with you on a roguelite/roguelike deckbuilder or something in that vain. I'll toss you a message in discord and we can see if were a fit.

Hi my names Scott Jones, I'm a currently Part-Time Solo Dev.  Essentially right now I work outside of my education to support my family. What I'm looking for is a team of motivated individuals that are looking to create games and publish them. My experience thus far has been in creating games from the ground up in Java, then I transitioned to Gamemaker for a bit, I have a little Unreal experience but my preference is to work in 2D. Currently I do most if not all of my work in Unity. I'm actually currently in a project but, the scope is a little out of reach for a solo dev on a decent time schedule. I'm willing to work in any capacity on a team. Right now I shoulder 100% of the work but being able to focus specifically on a task I'm more useful. I use a suite of tools at the moment. Generally I plan and do written work in google docs, for animating pixel art I use Aseprite, Pixel Over, Tiled. For Vector based art I either do my work in OpenToonz for strict animation purposes or I work in Gimp and transfer my art out by layer in PSD to Unity for Rigging etc. Other then that, for my current project I have been on the brink of purchasing and using Koreographer. Currently doing my own audio syncing. For music and sfx I generally look for free assets or I use paid AI generating apps and write my own lyrics etc. As for coding I have my Associates in Computer Science I worked 3 months as a software developer but I was being asked to relocate and given I have a family I decided to go back to working retail. I know quite a bit of C#, Java, C, Python, HTML, CSS, and some software pipeline stuff such as Jenkins, Database work I mostly worked with different versions of SQL. I'm not an expert in anything and more often than not I'll borrow code to fit my needs, but I have an understanding of good coding practices and after working on a larger project now, a better idea of what coding principles to use.

Below I'll post some of my work in art and sound. My work continues to improve I've been doing all of this the last 3-4 years and I find myself always taking on new rolls and putting on new hats. I'd prefer a group I can learn new tricks with and advance my capabilities. I also want individuals who can shoulder a fair amount of work, I've had experiences in the past where members simply didn't deliver much of anything other than input, that has been my main experience on itch.io and although I can respect that it's a welcoming community. I do want people who are passionate to actually put time into making art in whatever capacity. To be clear I'm not necessarily looking for a paid gig, if the team is under a publisher and getting paid then yes, but if it's something being actively sought for and were in prototyping stages I am more then willing to be an asset for the team to get us to a deliverable.

If you want to see more work it can be provided. I do a variety of styles to fit the esthetic of the game.  (Disclaimer) songs were generated with the use of AI I don't claim to be a Musician or Sound Engineer, but I'm learning I do use some Audio software.

Really digging your music hope we end up working together in the future.

Hi, my names Scott my discord is @.scottjones please only add if you have a team and your looking for someone to add to your team. I'm a full stack java developer with training in a wide array of languages C, C#, Python, Perl, BASH scripting, Java, Javascript, HTML, Angular, SQL, and more. I have built some smaller games as tutorials but would like a small team to work alongside to dive deeper in a direct discipline. I'm open to taking part in a more creative roll such as writer, systems design, project management, or Animation.

As far as my animation chops go it's mostly in 2D pixel art which I will share a few samples. I have done 3D modeling in Blender but haven't done much more in that area, no 3D animation work really other than adding custom particle effects and simple rotations and such for a space shooter I worked on. But would be interested to pick it up and learn it for a team that was highly motivated.

What I expect from you, is to be weekly contributors wanting to push your craft further and develop your skills. I have no expectation of pay, but perhaps some completed projects for a portfolio, and some game jam participations would be good. I'd prefer to work with other English speaking team members for communications purposes. So if you have difficulties with English it's nothing personal but I'll probably pass on the group since it's hard to work as a team with language barriers.

if your still looking for a game dev, I would like to offer my services, I'm also curious if you have someone acting as a producer essentially as a project manager, if not I can offer that as well, if you don't mind being behind the gun on deadlines. I have experience in full stack development, solo game projects and I do 2d art, 3d modeling, particle fx and a list of other skills. It would be nice to work in a team for a change if your interested in adding me to the team just reach out to my discord .scottjones and we can talk.

I sent you a friend request through discord you can use me for art and design. I'm learning Godot right now too.  Not quite as intuitive as some of the other engines but learning is coming quick.

(1 edit)

I could be interested in joining your team, I'd be open to different roles. I do pixel art, program in several languages but I've done a lot in java full stack development with AWS services angular front end web development, I was building my own games in Unity.... but we all know what's going on with that hot mess. Come January it probably won't be an engine anymore. I've worked with Unreal a little bit still learning C++ but it usually comes quick and I've worked with pointers in C. Mainly interested in just learning a roll and honing my abilities.

my Discord is .scottjones I'd be willing to share some of my work in art or programming as well but I'm still putting together my webportfolio.

I haven't used Godot before but given the insanity going on with Unity I'd see that as a safer engine to work in. Did you have a specific game in mind you wanted to work on or were you wanting to mostly just build the game systems while other people designed and did artwork?

Hi there, I'm looking for talent for a top down 2D horror project but were looking for a year iteration cycle for full production. I'll send you a friend request in Discord and see how you feel about contributing to the project. I liked your portfolio though it appears like you might be a good fit.

Thank you,

Scott Jones

Sent you a friend request through Discord, I'm looking to pick up members for a year long project on a  top down 2D horror game. This is unpaid initially but has the opportunity for royalties after the project is completed.

Sent you a friend request through discord interested in talking to you about a project we have a small team working on. It's going to be about a year long. Top down 2D horror title in Unity. We are in need of a experienced programmer so I'm searching around for someone who would be interested. This will be a full production cycle, not just a game jam. So if you have interest and are willing to work for free with royalties after the project is finished we'd like to have you aboard.

Thanks,

Scott Jones

Hello DreamShake13,

I'm sort of searching around trying to fill out the rest of a small team for development on our horror game we currently have 3-4 working, on the title. It's a top down 2D game with a set of unique mechanics. Were looking for a lead programmer currently. The length of the project will be ~1 year. This is unpaid work for the time being with the possibility of royalties in the future. Currently I'm Producing the project and doing narrative, we have an art lead, a game/level designer as well.  A few of us already program, and you wouldn't be working alone. But essentially I'm looking for someone who understands good practices, notation, and can take a lead in structuring the scripting for the game. We are working in Unity. If you are interested you can add me on Discord Scott Jones#7863

Thanks for your time,

Scott Jones

I'd be very interested in working with you, I like your sprite work and I'd be interested in your musical talent as well. Scott Jones#7863  on Discord, I'm currently working on pre-prototype for a 2D top down horror game in Unity. This is a collab project that we have at the moment with some unique twists on the genre. I'm busy doing narrative work right now, and I've been doing the 2D art solo so far. I know my team could use a art lead with a bit more experience then I have. The project should be about 1 year long after which we expect to be in marketing stages. This is a non-commission roll but obviously at the end of the project we plan to split proceeds fairly among the development team Which is fairly small currently. No more then 3 people including myself. I'd like to have a team of somewhere around 4-6 for development not including Voice Actors. To keep the work flow steady and break up tasks efficiently. If you are interested please don't hesitate to let me know and we could discuss more specifics about the project, and I could get you an invite to the discord channel.

Thank you,

Scott Jones
