I'm glad you enjoyed!

Summon crabber is so whimsical and silly that it's impossible not to love! A smile grew across my face as I saw that concept art. I like the idea of the magic arrow too! I'm sure there's many more ideas you could come up with which would be really cool to see!
As for the suggestion, you hit the nail right on the head! As I was playing, I noticed I was struggling to get to the lower fish at the start, but reeling back up was much quicker. I think allowing the hook to sink quickly and then pull it up to where you want might make initial catches a little easier. Thank you for taking the time to respond!
When I made the Gone Fishing Game Jam, I wasn't expecting what might be my dream tabletop game to be made. After reading through, this is wonderful so far and, even in its WIP state, I would very much like to get my tabletop group together to play! This is a great take on a Dredge inspired tabletop game and I'm very excited to see what comes in the future!
Sometimes, a game catches you by surprise and takes you on a journey you didn't know you needed to go on, but are glad you've been taken on it. This was that game for me.
I'll be honest, I decided to make this game jam before life got real... busy for me. I just haven't had a moment to sit down and rest for a long time, now. But today was a day where I could chill and take a look at the submissions for the jam.
I think this game, in its own way, helped me. It's an amazing outlet and a wonderful take on a fishing minigame. Thank you for uploading this experience.
In a way, this game instilled the same sense of dread in me that Dredge did, and it's great for that! When the huge fish shadow appeared under the water and I wasn't able to fish it up, I got out of there ASAP! Brilliant use of tension.
I think, if you were to develop this further, it would be great for there to be a fail state, where maybe your boat gets too damaged from the rocks or the big fish would take chunks out of the boat and make you lose points.
I'd love to see more of this!
This game feels like Webfishing and the fishing tournament from Animal Crossing have been mashed together into one game and it's such a perfect vibe!
I think one of my favourite things about this game (alongside the great number of fish you can catch) is the idea of setting play session times! It feels a bit like a party game, in that respect, and I love that this means the game respects the player's time.
I think the only thing I'd maybe like to see if this gets developed further is a multiplayer mode! Though adding a multiplayer mode might also bring a need to add more interaction, so there's a chance that might not fit with the vibes of the game.
A delightful experience overall!
I love this idea a lot! I think the fishing minigame is implemented very well and is a very relaxing experience, and I got strangely excited by the fact the water was waving? It's a cute little detail that wasn't necessary but adds a lot to the experience.
I think, for a prototype, the game is very in depth! I'm a big fan of the names you gave the fish and the idea of the fishing journal. I can tell a lot of thought went into this!
Since you're continuing to develop it more, I would love to see more of a story as to why these aliens are invading and why our player character and the fish are the only ones who can save the world. It seems very silly in the best way possible and I am intrigued to learn more. I'd also say one very minor thing: volume settings would be amazing. When a fish first bit my lure, the sound genuinely jumpscared me!
Excited to see what comes next! If you get a chance to, I'd love for you to send it over to me when it's next updated/when it's done!
This is wonderful! I agree with Aias's take on the game, and I do think the music adds to that, it makes a real interesting atmosphere! It took me a couple of tries to get into the groove of things, but I did get to a point where I was able to pretty confidently keep under all the hooks without my stamina running out. I think it could be an interesting idea maybe to have the stamina deplete very slightly faster than it regenerates, so people who are trying to cheese would have to implement a little more strategy.
This is a very fun game to play! I ended on a high score of 39 but I will be back to beat it!
I love this game so much! The idea of an idle fishing game that also allows you to just let it run in the background with the upgrades you get is perfect! The art style is very charming and I love the idea of the fishing rod being a spell cast from the staff!
If I was to change anything, I'd make it so that you can speed up your movement when casting, maybe with an upgrade?
But I love this game! Will definitely be playing this a lot!
You can still get feedback from the community through ratings and comments. I'm trying to encourage people to send feedback over, both through the Discord and on my Bluesky, where I will be posting the submissions when they're submitted. I'll also be sending out an email the day of the deadline to remind people to give feedback to their fellow devs. It's a casual jam, but it's also a learning experience for a lot of people, so I want to offer people the opportunity to learn in a chill space.
Hi! As is explained in the description of the jam, this is a casual jam. This means there will be no judging of projects and, as a result, no winners. The sponsor is simply helping advertise the jam and, as a thank you, I've put their name in the description. If the jam goes well and it happens again, there is a chance I may, some time down the line, give this jam a prize. But there's no plans to have a prize any time in the near future.
