Even though it was short, it's a good game with lots of potential!

These are the things I would like to add:

  • Make the player to be able to finish the level in power up form
  • Make the super jump a bit easier to do
  • Add more levels

Keep working on this!

In the future, I plan to improve the game (especially the wallrunning) and I originally planned for a toggle to switch between dimensions but I couldn't make it work so I just used 2 buttons for input :)

Thank you for the review!

I will fix the wallrunning and add more features in the future!

Thanks for playing :)

THIS GAME IS GOOD

I could relate to the developer as I do not know how to code any of those things without a Brackeys tutorial :)

The taking away the cursor was a smart move because the player doesn't have to do anything with it in the other parts of the game.

The story and voice acting gives me There is No Game vibes.

THIS GAME IS EXCELLENT! Your team did it waaaaaaaaay better than me :)

Though there are some things I would like to note:

  • The safeguards to avoid clipping are great (and something I never thought of) but it kind of confused me when I didn't know why it was beeping
  • The parkour was a bit challenging because I couldn't see where the next platform is on the other reality
  • The buttons are a bit confusing because I didn't know what it activated most of the time.

If these were meant to happen then just ignore it.

It's fine, the wallrunning is a bit unstable right now. In the future I will improve it :)

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Thanks for playing my game! I may need to improve the wallrunning system so that it's easier to learn and work on my map design.

Thanks for rating and playing my game! I'll review your game soon!

Wow, you actually got past the tutorial! Yes level 3 is a very hard level to complete myself. Will learn to make better maps next time, Thank you for playing my game!

The WebGL version does have an increased mouse sensitivity but the wallrun is really hard to control even in the standalone builds. But thank you for the review!

The wallrunning is something I will have to fix in the future. Thank you for the review!

I know that the wallrunning is very unstable and inconsistent,  in the future I will try to incorporate more mechanics and fix the wallrunning. Thanks for the review and will check out your group's game.

Would you please play my game? It is my first 3D game so I would like some criticism and suggestions to improve it.

Unity because most people in the game jam are brackeys fans

(1 edit)

I joined a game jam called Devtober 2021 and finished it. But one of the recommended things to do was to make a post-mortem or something that explains the positives and negatives of the experience. And here I am talking about my game, Number Cruncher.

Experience

I started making Number Cruncher before the jam, but it was originally a clone of the Castle Crashers minigame, All You Can Quaff. I made it because the minigame was removed from the remastered version. I forgot about the project and suddenly remembered it when there was only one week left in Devtober.

I started developing the game again and added some important aspects, such as AI, difficulty options, win and lose screens, a main and pause menu. The problem was that there were N O  V I S U A L S when playing the game except for the score counters and key press indicators. Then, I started making some backgrounds and visuals for the score system.

At the time, there was only 3 days left before the deadline and I still had to make the characters and food which would take a LOT of time. So, I switched objectives and loaded up a backup version of the project. I thought of a way to make the numbers the main visuals without the screen being too empty, so I thought that making the game look like it was being played inside a calculator was a good idea. So I started to modify the main menu's graphics, added the in game visuals and it was finally finished and posted 12 hours before the deadline. I wasn't too proud of how it looked because I only made the calculator aesthetic in one day but it was all I can do for that amount of time.

What I learned

I learned a lot of things during this game jam but this is the most important one for me.

Don't Procrastinate.

Because I had a month to develop the game I put it off until I only had one week left to develop it and I knew I could have made a better game if I made better use of the time given to me rather than playing Roblox everyday.

That is it for this devlog! Please check out the finished game HERE and share your feedback to help make my games better!

NICE GAME! Even if it is only a prototype it shows some massive potential.

This is a very good game prototype that could be made in a much better game engine to make an EVEN BETTER GAME. big congrats using scratch I haven't done anything that good with it.

A very fun game! But the sprites could use some improvement because they do not fit together. :)

Thank you for the link! Now maybe I can participate in the jam!

That's a really helpful unity package! But for some reason I can't download the file? Can you please post another download link to like mediafire? Thank you!

Unity with C# of course!

I get it, like its punising because its kinda like a rage game and the way I implemented the theme is less points then more screaming you will need to do. Also on the mode for people with no mics, because my gameplay relies on the microphone I don't see a way of making it work sorry. About making the objects you are dodging clearer I will try to make the experience much easier. This is my first game after all. Though I appreciate the feedback! It was REALLY helpful Im just starting out and this is really good info thank you!

Bro! What a good game! Yours was better than mine and you made it in two days! Though sometimes if I switched sizes in mid air I would get like a weird double jump feeling but I'm its supposed to happen then it's ok. But something so polished and looks and sounds good made in 2 days is amazing. You can definitely win this game jam. Also you deserve the rating right now.

WOW! Thanks for the high rating on design and innovation! Will check Kamatt's game later!

I already had a mac build but when it finished building the game jam submission time was over. I still have the file would you like a link to it?

A very good game! It's very well polished, the colors look good, the music not so much but the gameplay makes up for it. And if you added more levels and maybe a boss battle it might be an excellent full release game!

Here is mine it needs a microphone.

Thank you for the advice! Will apply when I polish the game!

(1 edit)

So I made this game with a microphone as a main mechanic and its SO HARD to get it to work properly so please let me know on your thoughts and what you think can be improved.

https://thesticky-studio.itch.io/screamy-hoops

I am now incorporating the theme but got all main mechanics dow

Also you guys are welcome to share yout games here even though you didn't finish it in time for the jam. :)

good for you that you actually submitted a game!

I guess it is! Let's just do better on the next game jam

Yes sure I will send mine shortly!

sadd :(

Thank you for the support will do it! But I'll try better in the next game jam I will be participating.
