I'd be more than happy to proofread and offer suggested edits and corrections to your game's dialogue and text. That's the sort of work I want to do more of!

I don't have Discord; would it be okay to contact you about this on Twitter? (I'm @ThePotatoWitch on Twitter, btw.)

Normally I charge for my proofreading services, but I'm currently running an offer to proofread your game's text for free, on the condition that I'm listed in your game's credits as a proofreader, and I can list on my website that I did some proofreading work for your game. In other words, yes, I am temporarily offering to work for free, for the exposure.

Full details of the services I offer can be found on my website, but in a nutshell, you send me your game's text in a Google doc, and I will proofread and make suggested edits and corrections to things like grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. You know, making sure you're using the correct your/you're and it's/its, that sort of thing. If the intent of something isn't clear, I'll contact you for clarification so that I can make the best suggestion.

My goal is to make sure that your game can be received as well as possible by players, without any linguistic confusion.

Email me at renderbug.quadnines@gmail.com and we can discuss turnaround times based on the wordcount in your game.  (It will take longer for me to proofread a 50,000 word visual novel than it will to proofread a 15-minute horror experience, for instance.)

This offer is only good for emails I receive by 11:59 PM PST on Friday, July 23rd, so if you want to take advantage of free proofreading services for your game, now's your chance!

Nobody's perfect when it comes to spelling and grammar and use of language; we all make mistakes. But so many indie games (and, to be honest, big-budget AAA games) contain mistakes in grammar or irritating typos, which can create a poor 1st impression of the game. I want to help give your game its best chance by proofreading and correcting such mistakes.

I offer 2 different levels of service, both with very competitive and affordable rates.

1 - I will clean up the game's text and make sure it's as free from typos, grammatical and punctuation errors, and commonly misspelled words as I can make it. This is a basic clean-up, essentially, and is best suited for people who want a final eye on the game's text to make it as error-free and clear to players as it can be.
Cost - $5 USD per 2000 words.

2 - Everything from the 1st service, but more in-depth and extensive. If English isn't your first language but your game is in English, this is the option to go for, since it will require more potential edits than the 1st service allows for. This isn't translation or localization, but it is a comprehensive grammar, spelling, punctuation, and clarity check.
Cost - $5 USD per 1000 words.

All of this would be done by sending me your game's text (item descriptions, character dialogue, narration, etc) through Google Docs, where I would make any needed corrections. Changes will be tracked so you can see suggestions or requests for clarification. Payment is best done through PayPal, but other arrangements can be made if necessary. Turnaround times will vary based on the amount of in-game text that needs to be editing; a basic grammar check of a quick horror experience will take far less time than an in-depth edit of a 40-hour RPG.

Additional details and examples of problems I can save you from can be found here: https://quadnines.wordpress.com/proofreading-services/

I have a lot of time on my hands right now, due to being out of work (thanks, disability), so if you're looking to give players the best 1st impression of your game that they can get, don't overlook proofreading services. I made my rates as affordable as I could because I know many indie devs don't always have large budgets at their disposal, but that's no reason that their game should be filled with typos.

If you're interested in my services, send an email to renderbug.quadnines@gmail.com and we can discuss the project. I look forward to working with you!
