Just a quick note on v.7.7

WD PRE

The MIC / LiNE and IMPEDANCE sections are cut off on the GUI. I think there was a phase rev button too but I can't see it anymore.
Toggling to the Prescision, Porta, Clean E, or Tube Tone will reveal a ghostly image of the impedance section.

IRON knob produces loud artifacts when twisting or double clicking after audio has been played through the Class A 73 system.
To reproduce play some audio while on 73, crank the gain, stop audio, tiwst or double click the IRON knob.

WD FET

LIMIT, DE-ESS, GATE, and DIRTY buttons are big/white (placeholder?)

Amazing, looking fwd to it. I'm gonna put some WD plugs through the paces next week on 5-6 mixes. I'm excited to hear how SUM CH / BUS will sound across 24+ tracks.

(1 edit)

BRIGADE is sounding very cool, and fun to manipulate with MOD and SPREAD. The SPREAD is very touchy, but not unlike DARK MEMORY from Audiority.

I'm not sure if the NOISE is working though, or maybe its just super subtle. ?

Any chance a HP / LP filter could be added pre echo?

How are you making these so fast? haha

Not sure I understand your comment re:Delta. Just took me a moment to realize mix @ 100% included the dry signal, and when is Delta on then it's all wet. All good.

Your soothe idea is an interesting one.

Will get back with thoughts on the BRIGADE. I'm demoing the new BBD from PSP as well.

Looking forward to it. I plan on exploring the current builds this week further during some real world sessions.

I personally am more interested in quirky analog style plugins oppose to digital / surgical tools.

Mismatched tubes, crosstalk, iron, motors, spring tensions and tape splices etc are more exciting to me but I will definitely check out a couple in your Dropbox folder. Thanks!

My main goal is to put together a console system that is easily tweakable depending on the type of song I'm working on. Air Windows Console kind of does that for me, but if I want to audition a different flavour I need to load a new plug-in (within the plug-in) on all channels / busses. Love the sound, but the setup can be annoying, especially since his output fader needs adjusting to gain match when bypassed.

I think Summer, Span and AX will all be great workhorses for me. The distressor style plugin is maybe my favourite I've heard! Kiive close 2nd.

Anyway, keep up the great work!

Couple more minor bugs from testing V 0.7.1

Win 10 / Cubase 15 / VST3

WD Duress
Love the feel of this compressor.

Could the selected ratio text colour be green, or some other by default without custom css? I find it hard to know which one is selected at first glance.

HP80 button and IMAGE button do not visibily change to let user know if engaged.

The bottom of the plugin says WD RACK, intead of WD DURESS?

WD ECHO
On the rear panel, the FRONT button does not have the double arrow icon like other plugins

WD FET
The bottom of the plugin says WD RACK, intead of WD FET?

WD MU
The bottom of the plugin says WD RACK, intead of WD MU?

WD OPTO
The bottom of the plugin says WD RACK, intead of WD OPTO?

WD PRE
If audio is playing, the gain is cranked on any of the five presets, and the user double clicks the gain (to reset to default) there is a loud burst of audio as it "resets". Most notable on Tube 76 and Porta-4 track systems.

If MATCH gain is on and the gain is cranked, after double clicking to reset the gain, the metering for gain / match gain will flicker indefinitely until match gain is turned off. (Source can be mic or line)

WD SPAN
"Front" button on rear panel seems like a placeholder button.
This plugin sounds amazing to me.

WD SPRING
"Front" button on rear panel seems like a placeholder button.
Haven't played with this long enough, but I like what I hear.

If using as a 100% wet return the delta needs to be engaged. Took me a minute to figure that out, not a biggie.

WD STRIP
Haven't played with this much yet.
Clicking "Rear" button loads rear info below the preset bar (which is cool) but button continues to say REAR

WD SUMM CH / SUMMER
Ok, these are pretty cool. I'm using SUM CH in the POST fader insert slots of Cubase, and SUMMER in the first insert slot on GROUPS.

FRONT button on rear is placeholder.

I just discovered the similar Doc Shadrach / Reaper plugin, but since I cannot test that I will A / B against Air Windows Console 9 which I also love.

WD TAPE
Haven't played enough with this yet, but prett cool sounding.

WD VCA
FRONT button on rear is placeholder.

WD XQ
On the rear panel, the FRONT button does not have the double arrow icon like other pluginsHaven't explored this one enough yet.

WD TEC
Pair Drift knob does not turn for me.
Term & Feedback knob cannot be reset to default with double click.

😁

Where can I find Summer Channel/Bus? I'm not seeing it on the main site.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply. Looking forward to testing the update.

I have a few ideas for new plugins

1. Dolby A / 361 style processor. A big reason why I love u-he Satin is for the Dolby. Particularly Type II on drums.

2. BBD style delay. Clock whine, aliasing, dynamic bandwidth changes, compander interactions.

3. Spring reverb. I know you've got a spring built into the ECHO plugin but could much further, investigating dispersive wave propagation, nonlinear resonances, mechanical interactions, transducer saturation.

4. Console system - less about colour but more about a believable analog signal path where gain staging, channel count, bus loading, and signal flow all contribute to the final sound.

I know there are a few other console systems like Sonimus, Brainworx or AirWindows (my preference right now) but I'd be really curious to see what WD could do.

Something like...

WD CHANNEL on every audio channel and it models input stage, line amp, pan circuit, channel variation, crosstalk etc.

WD BUS then goes on all groups modeling a summing network, bus amplifier, loading effects, saturation etc.

WD STEREO BUS goes on final stereo bus, models the mix amplifier stage, transformer, metering and power supply monitoring.

So the idea is driving more channels increases bus load. The bus amplifiers saturate differently depending on how many channels are active. Channel tolerances create subtle differences. Shared power rails introduce measurable interaction between sections. Crosstalk increases realistically as channel count grows.

The default settings measure like a properly aligned console and the published console specs become validation targets.

Every module is bench-tested against measured performance.

"Character" modes remain optional rather than the default via the rear panel.

Can't wait to see what's next!

Not exactly sure how I came across this dev, but I've been demo-ing for a couple days and feel these tools are almost perfect right out of the gate. The delta, rear trims, auto gain options and metering are all top-notch. And of course everything sounds amazing. I didn't know I needed a send/return plugin!

I'm having a few issues I'd like to bring up.

(windows 10 / cubase 15 pro / vst3)

- Resize is not remembered after closing the plugin. Hoping this could be an easy fix. I need to resize the plugin each time it is minimized / closed.  I have tried saving a default preset with the gui size I would like but that does not work.

- WD TEC metering is not working. Eq curve/in/out/coil/iron all not working.  Also while the IN buttons do work when toggling there is no graphical indication on the IN button itself whether or not it is active or not.

Looking forward to exploring WD RACK next!
