Hello, Weenter,

Thank you so much for your detailed response and taking your time to help me with this! I don't know many devs who would go out the their way to give me tips on this, so I really appreciate it. I just finished working on a game for a game jam with a friend. While not a sidescroller or a ninja game, it was a good learning experience on how to use github for collaboration and despite some technical hiccups along the way, we were able to make a really cool game. Even though it's unpolished, it's still pretty fun. If you want to check it out, here's the itch.io link: https://team-midnight-rain.itch.io/loopy-lunatics

Since we made it together, we created a new account for it, but my team name is in the credits in the game description. If you play, let me know what you think and things we could improve! We didn't get a chance to put in sound effects yet, and the door for the fifth level doesn't work so we'll have to fix that as well.

Anyway, I really appreciate your advice on the aminations as well as that street fighter animations for reference. Right now, I'm focusing on learning JavaScript with my uncle to do a reboot of his educational geography game that got discontinued, but I plan on starting a ninja platformer soon, possibly after that. I've been thinking about it, and I'd like to maybe try a single-player game almost like yours but maybe more of a metroidvania style with some inspiration from 1986 Legend of Zelda dungeons and upgrade elements. If you'd like, I'll let you know if I make any progress with it.

Also, I checked out a couple of your games and I'd like to give feedback. Overall, the ninja game was awesome and my favorite feature was probably the double-tap to run, which was really interesting for speedrunning and also added a Sonic-type element to the game in that you could go through early stages quickly to get to the new stuff. I also liked the checkpoint system, it made the game less punishing but still just difficult enough with the challenges of the platform and enemies. The only thing that was a bit punishing was the parry system. Maybe I just didn't get the hang of it, but it felt like you had to make the parry exact in order to block opponet attacks. It might be better if you lengthened the timer of the parry so it is a bit easier to execute. However, it was a great game and provided a complete experience.

I also checked out Monster Battlegrounds. This game was also really well done. It felt like an arcade fighting game and was well-polished. I didn't really come across too many issues with this one in particular. It was well-done, the graphics were great, and it was cool that you provided the option to battle the cpu.

Thank you again for you feedback. If you want feedback on anything specific about any of your games, let me know.

Best Regards,

Team Midnight Ninja

I really enjoyed playing this game, thank you for making it! Didn't get a chance to play the multiplayer, but the singleplayer was amazing. I saw you might need help with a Godot 4 port. My dream has always been to create a ninja platformer, so if you still need someone to help, I use Godot 4. I do have to admit I'm still a beginner with only one project released so far and another on the way that I'm working on collision and level design for, and I'm not at the level where I feel comfortable with 1 on 1 collaboration, but if you end up putting the code on Github, I would love to try porting it to Godot 4. If you wouldn't mind, I might also try expanding the singleplayer with more of a story and maybe more of a metroidvania feel. I would also give you credit for the project. Anyway, let me know if you would like me to help you, and I would be honored to continue this project. It looks like it has a lot of potential.

This is an awesome Ninja Game! I have always wanted to create a ninja platformer, and your game inspired me. I like how fluid the animations are and how cool the enemy ai is! It has a lot of strategy in combat, especially against the blue enemies where you can make them turn on each other. The parry is quite difficult to execute, but the attacks looked great! It would be cool if you could add more single-player levels if you have time. Honestly, I think you could make this into a mini hollow-knight if you wanted to! I am also a game dev. but just starting out. I am wondering how you designed the attacks so well. I am not very good at making solid melee combat, so if you get a chance, let me know!

Awesome game! I like how thoughtful this is, at first I thought it was just a simple runner but it's really cool how you guide a seed through the dirt to fruition. It would be cool it there was maybe an option to grow a rarer plant with a higher difficulty level, but it's a fun and intriguing game!

Oh, wait, I didn't read the instructions enough, this game is awesome! I love how it shifts perspective and adds to the puzzle! This is a great game!

Couldn't figure out how to get past the 3rd platform. I wasn't sure if there was a double-jump or something I was missing? It's really tough to tell how good the game is without playing much of it, so I won't rate it bad.

Hello,

Thank you so much for your feedback! It means a lot to me as a developer to know my game is played and appreciated. I had to toggle some page settings, and the game went off for a day, but should be back up now. Thank you for your patience and kind words! Let me know if you have any suggestions for what I could do better with this game or the next. It helps me develop better games in the future.

Best Regards,

I really like the combat, it was strategic, yet simple enough to keep things fast-paced. I would say one thing to do would be to have a break in between waves. Even if not much happened, it is hard to feel the transition right now between them and can feel like one endless stretch of combat. It would be more rewarding with a simple, "wave clear!" statement or something similar. Also, it was hard to see the text for enemy specs in the corner, maybe move them somewhere more visible? I loved how you could zoom in/out on the battle, it was a nice touch. Overall, the game has great potential and is really fun!

Thank you for your kind words! Do you have anything you'd like to see with this game or anything you think I could improve on for the next? Also, did you feel like the difficulty curve was good or too easy/hard? I'm still learning how to master Godot and this is my first public game, so feedback is always appreciated! Look out for our next title, a fun game for the SNES Style Graphics Jam #2. A killer concept and a unique mechanic is already in development, and we can't wait to see what happens from there!

Thank you for your feedback! I toned down the difficulty on the first few levels so more people can enjoy the boss rush of the last 4! If you play, let me know how the difficulty curve is and if it is too easy or too hard or if any levels feel out of place. I'll try to add checkpoints if I have time, but we are currently working on a game jam and have a killer concept idea. Follow if you'd like more updates and I will try to redo the checkpoints later if I can. Let me know if you have any more feedback or anything you'd like to see in the future!

Thank you for the feedback! I'll definitely have to fix the buttons, I forgot about them being small at first. I don't always know how the player likes certain things, so this is a big help. I'm also thinking about remapping the checkpoints, maybe I'll do it Ninja-Gaiden style where you can't lose after you get to a certain level, you just go back to the last checkpoint. Then losing a life can just restart the current level. Since you made it pretty far into the game, did you think the difficulty curve was good or too easy or hard? I had to hurry a bit when I cut back on the level difficulty, so if any level felt out of place with difficulty, let me know! Thank you once again for your great feedback!

Hello, my bad about "dialog", you were right about it being right and I should've checked first. I definitely learned something new there. It's cool that's it's more of a turn-based rpg feel. Turn-based isn't really my strong suit for games so I don't really know how slow it is compared to others. I think the combat system is cool, but the weapons weren't explained as well. That could probably help the game be more strategic and fun.

Hello,

This is an interesting game! I enjoyed the nice graphics and everything looked cool and complex. Everything seemed well done and polished I have two pieces of feedback for you. The first is that the word "dialogue" is misspelled in the tutorial at the beginning. Not trying to be picky, just letting you know so the game seems more professional. Also, the combat could be a little long from what I played and there wasn't much of a break between fights. Maybe this changes in the later game, but I think it could be nice if you let the player explore a bit and have a few more pathway options instead of just being sped into fights. But all in all, cool game!

Hello Everyone,

I am a new developer who just released their first complete game in Godot called Master of Pong. It's been a couple weeks now, but NO ONE HAS BEATEN IT! It is a 10-level tough-as-nails boss-rush pong video game with lives, checkpoints, and power-ups, and if anyone thinks they are a truly skilled gamer, I present to you a challenge. Be the first to defeat the ELDER and comment with a screenshot of you beating him in the comments section. Whoever is the first to have proof of beating this seemingly insurmountable challenge will get a shout-out in my next devlog! Have fun!

Here is the game link: https://team-midnight-ninja.itch.io/master-of-pong

The 4 bosses in Sequence:

The Strategist

The Grower

The Sniper

The ELDER

This sounds really cool, I like the idea of save features and weather effects are awesome.  Do you plan on releasing this for any other platforms such as Steam when it's finished? I look forward to seeing how this game turns out!

Hello, this is a cool game you have! I like the idea of dodging bricks with a ball controlled by the mouse! There were a few things you may want to fix, first, I couldn't really play the game outside of fullscreen mode. Also, you may want to add a start screen, because it is hard when the game starts as soon as you click the play game button. The game could also get a bit slow at times once you got the hang of it and could be too easy. I would recommend making the bricks slowly speed up or get more frequent, so it doesn't get too boring. I am learning to program, my latest project is Master of Pong. It's a 10-Level pong game with powerups and music I made myself on a keyboard. If you get a chance, you can check it out and leave some feedback. I am interested to see what players think of the different paddles and special attacks and how well they are weighted. Also, if you get to the Elder, please let me know how he is! None of my testers that I know have beaten him yet! But overall, it was an interesting and fun game!

This is an awesome puzzle game! I love how you keep the controls from the player until they've figured out the new ones. I also have to say, the sleeping mechanic is brilliant! I wasn't sure what to expect from this game, but it has to be some of the most brilliant level design I have played on this site! I made it past the sleepwalking part over to the taller cliff-type zone, but couldn't figure out how to get past a few of the barriers, which means your puzzles were difficult! The biggest thing I saw that you could improve is the visual polish, especially with the title menu. The buttons and menu were good and felt complete, but it could be nicer if you added a title picture or some color to the backgrounds there. I am also in the Continue Your Game jam, my project is Master of Pong.

Interesting concept, it was a nice game. The spinners didn't spin as well as I hoped but quite satisfying to burn down the moss!

Really awesome game! I enjoyed the platforming and the art was exceptional. I couldn't figure out how to get over a platform next to the lava, but I'm sure it can be done. It was an awesome progression and I love how you did the lighting, it looks amazing.  One thing, maybe to try would be to add a few more secret areas, even though I only played through a bit, exploring didn't feel as useful, it was more of survival and platforming. I am also a game designer, (I just finished my first public project, Master of Pong), so I know how hard it is to do this right. Great game, though, it was really done well!

This is a really cool game! I love the graphics and how the environment feels alive with the soundscapes, like how you had the birds fly away when you walked over them. I played a few times and died a lot. It was a really cool game, the enemies were just challenging enough, and I liked the overall progression and the linear structure of the game while also leaving you with some choice as to the direction you wanted to go. The rpg stats at the beginning also added more depth. One thing I noticed was that when you click the attack button a few times in a row, the player will continue attacking and you can't control them. I wasn't sure if this was intentional or a bug. I am also in the continue your game jam, and my game is Master of Pong. It's my first public videogame, a 10-level Pong game with powerups and music I made myself on a keyboard, so if you get a chance, feedback is always appreciated. Anyway, I think your game has a lot of potential and it was very fun!

Really cool game, it's well done. The levels are challenging but beatable and when you lose, it feels like your mistake rather than the game cheating or trapping you. The levels could be a bit long, and it was brutal to have only 2 lives, but just beatable enough to keep playing. Well done!

Interesting Game concept! I really liked that you gave the player multiple options for what they could do and upgrade. The music was also fantastic and fit the theme well. It would be cool if there was a way to avoid the enemies, maybe keys to move your diver at back/forth angles as he goes down. But overall, it was a nice game! I am also in the One Game a Month #55 Jam. I made a 10-Level pong game with powerups and music I made myself on a keyboard. If you get a chance, you can check it out and leave some feedback. I am interested to see what players think of the different paddles and special attacks and how well they are weighted. Also, if anyone gets to the Elder, tell me! None of my testers that I know have beaten him yet!
