IN DEVELOPMENT. Not bad per se, but I got bored of the story after a while. On paper, the story does what it's supposed to: It provides a goal for the MC to work towards, character development, and worldbuilding. But it's not really interesting to me. Never have I thought "That was a cool scene" or "I wonder what happens next". The story doesn't provide enough entertainment value in my opinion, that's why I dropped it.

What I liked was the frequent character sounds, stuff like gasps, sighs, nyas, moans, etc. Though the characters themselves feel pretty one-dimensional. The animations are decent, but there are some ultra-fast 0.1 second camera pans to show the position from different perspectives, I think a simple cut would've been better in those cases. And the game has some RPG combat, which is fine, it doesn't make the experience better or worse.

Overall, it's okay. I can't point at anything that's bad, but I also can't point at anything that's exceptional. Quite forgettable, sadly.

The Windows version also works on Linux, just run the .sh file instead of the .exe file. The dev forgot to add the Linux icon to the PC version's download option.

Maybe try you luck on the Chinese translation's site, since it specifically caters to players like you!

What are you struggling with exactly? Are you unable to download or is it something else?

If you're comparing it to installation using an app store, where a new game can be installed with just a single tap, then yeah, you're right. For tech savvy people it's quite straightforward though: download, extract, install, and move a file. For everyone else it's a learning opportunity, but also, admittedly, a major inconvenience. Here are the reasons why the installation is not easier:

  1. Google doesn't want 18+ content on the Play Store, so the single tap solution is out of the picture.
  2. APK files for Ren'Py games can't be larger than 2GB. That's not enough for the amount of content the game has right now. Hence a workaround is needed, which is the big rpa file that you need to move during installation.
  3. That then means that you need at least 2 files to play the game + a file with installation instructions, so you need a zip file that bundles them together into a single download. But having that zip file adds yet another step to the installation process.

I have to admit, there are ways to streamline this, the status quo is pretty much an improvised solution. However, Android isn't the dev's priority right now: Google is looking to ban the installation of third-party apps, so right now the play is to wait and see before investing into a solution that potentially becomes obsolete very soon.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

IN DEVELOPMENT. Only 45m long so far, but promising. There's a clue system, so apparently you get to play detective in later episodes. The characters look nice, but some environments are quite bland. No lewd content so far and just a bit of non-lewd animation. The writing is nice so far, but it's really too early to properly judge. Definitely a nice start! I've reviewed Divine Intervention yesterday and that review is almost identical to this one, but I like Bound by Blood slightly more, primarily because of the clue system!

IN DEVELOPMENT. So far, this AVN is only 35 minutes long. No lewd content so far, just some teasing, and only one non-lewd animation. The characters look great, but the environments look a little bland. The writing is nice so far, but it's really too early to properly judge. The hook could be better. If you can help it, I'd recommend you to wait for one more update before you check it out.

Thank you for considering my feedback! I have one counter-argument: As it is right now, the minigame can't be played with one hand. You need the mouse to click and the keyboard to type in the arrow sequences. You could have one hand switch between mouse and keyboard, but the arrow sequences are under time pressure, so that's a suboptimal way to play. You could mitigate by not starting the timer until the first key is pressed, if you decide to keep that mechanic at all.

IN DEVELOPMENT. I do see potential here, but some fundamental design choices don't make sense to me. At its core this is a highly stylized linear story game, on that front the game performs pretty well. But at the start of each day there's a recurring point-and-click sandbox segment where you can scavenge for resources, maybe spot some secrets, complete tasks for money, and buy items from the shop. I don't get this sandbox segment at all, it doesn't make the game meaningfully better. And it even breaks immersion, since the following main story segment sometimes starts with you getting out of bed in the morning, even though you actually spent the first half of the day during the sandbox segment: traveling through the city, scavenging stuff, and completing jobs.

And on top of that, those jobs you're doing solely consist of a recurring repair minigame that you also sometimes encounter during the main story segments. And this minigame is really boring. It's not interesting, it's not deep, it's not rewarding, it barely even qualifies as a minigame. Though it looks a lot better than some of the improvised minigames in other AVNs, I'll give it that.

Really, what the game especially excels at is visuals and overall style. The biggest plus is a large number of well-made looping animations, some of which are lewd and some of which aren't. The characters look nice, and everything feels very polished overall.

Regarding the story, I'm a bit torn. On one hand, the game definitely has its moments here. On the other hand, it occasionally feels like there are not enough renders to properly represent a scene visually.

Minor complaints:

  • In some dialogue lines, the characters use the MC's default name instead of the custom one.
  • You can buy multiple upgrades of the same kind, but those additional copies don't do anything, leading to wasted money.
  • If the dev already knows that the title screen music is too loud, why doesn't he make it quieter or reduce the default music volume?
  • In Ren'Py games, the S key usually takes screenshots and even the controls screen lists this keybinding. However, it doesn't work, presumably because the S key is used for the minigame and when looking around. The dev should consider binding screenshots to another key.

To summarize: Visually and stylistically the game is amazing. The story has its moments, but the gameplay side of it is bad. If the dev works on the troublesome parts, this could turn out to be a really unique AVN!

Agreed, it's the same with trying to select a choice using the keyboard. All you can select is the character overview button in the top right and nothing else.

Very impressive! I'm trying to think of negatives, but this AVN does pretty much everything really well. All I can come up with is taste-dependent:

  • There's a LOT of sex. It feels like I spent almost half the time playing in lewd scenes. You could reduce it by not playing like a manwhore like I did, but sleeping with girls also has positive story implications, so I'm hesitant to turn down lewd opportunities. I prefer Eternum's approach, where lewd scenes are sparse, but all the more rewarding because of it.
  • No animations. I personally don't care at all, I'd rather have lewd scenes with great stills and writing than ones with bad animations.

So yeah, I'll definitely recommend this one. It can be both funny and serious without being jarring! Though there were less action scenes than I expected for a game that got second place for "best action". And remember: Give Evelyn your virginity, no matter what.

Have things changed that much? ZArchiver still looks the same to me. Though sections 3 and 6 are kind of obsolete by now, I don't think anyone still needs to use them. I'll do some overhauling in the coming days, thanks for the heads up. But 90% of the advice here should still apply, what are you struggling with specifically?

Community members have written mini mods that automatically unlock all lewd scenes for you:

  • This mod unlocks all scenes, except the ones in the most recent update.
  • This mod unlocks all scenes, no exceptions.

Is this a bug of the base game or my mod? I know that some Android devices have trouble playing audio and video, leading to silence, black screens, and crashes when they play Eternum (with or without mods).

So you're proposing a potential fix that at least stops the game from crashing, though the experience would still be severely impeded (since there's no audio and black screens). However, preventing crashes would still be a major improvement, so thanks for sharing! I can't verify it though, only very few Android devices have that bug.

On Discord you always get pinged when someone DMs you. I got your message, don't worry. I generally don't accept random friend requests from strangers, you can just DM me when you need something. Discord only blocks non-friend DMs if we don't have at least one server we're both members of.

At 0.2.1: The story is amazing, I'm really impressed! It's an overall high quality AVN, I do recommend you to play it, but I have some critical feedback as well, which I hope will make this AVN even better in the long run:

  • Some characters' faces could be better.
  • The freeroam segments are fine, but navigation can be cumbersome. Maybe add a small map, so it's easier to tell where I am and where I'm going.
  • The animations are nice, but I don't like the ones where the (non-POV!) camera movements are overly synced with the thrusts. Doesn't look good.

The tutorial never instructs you to move something with ZArchiver, we only use copying. In ZArchiver, "moving" is called "cutting" (& "pasting").

If you aren't actually using ZArchiver but your phone's default file manager to move files, instead of first clicking "move" and then selecting the files to move, you might have to do it the other way around: First multi-select the files to move (start multi-selection by pressing and holding the first file you'd like to move) and then click on the "move" button that should become available.

Does that info help? Otherwise, you need to provide more details on which step you're struggling with.

I'm not using macOS, so my information may not be entirely accurate. Your system should store saves in ~/Library/RenPy/Eternum-1610153667, so as long as you play Eternum on the same computer, they should always be there. You can also make a backup of that folder if you're afraid that your hard drive might fail or if you're switching computers.

The archive.rpa file needs to be exactly in "/Documents/Ixalon/com.caribdis.eternum/game/" if there's a single typo in any of these folder names, then it won't work. Uppercase/lowercase shouldn't matter though.

Also, some people make the mistake of naming the final folder "game directory" or putting a "directory" folder into the "game" folder, both these are wrong.

It's pretty good! I didn't expect much, but it's creative and has solid writing. Every character is interesting in their own way and there's plenty of humor, frequently leaning to dark humor. Don't play this if you're easily offended.

The lewd scenes range from really solid to kinda meh. There are quite a few RPG elements and even a combat system, which I didn't find that interesting, unfortunately. And while the UI is very functional, it doesn't look good and you're looking at it a lot.

I like this sandbox AVN in principle, but it didn't really hook me and I ended up dropping it in favor of playing other games in my backlog. You have your typical events at different locations, visiting them in a random order in hopes of being entertained. There are story threads, but never was there anything I looked forward to or really wanted to know more about.

In conclusion: It's entertaining, funny, and does a lot of things right, but it doesn't hook you very well.

Update: I saw your post in the comment section of the Spanish translation! In internal discussions the translators said that they don't even offer an Android version, which very much begs the question how you even got here.

Are you using an emulator to play the game on Android? Joiplay maybe? If yes, maybe Joiplay has a setting for activating self-voicing. Or Joiplay can emulate a PC keyboard and you accidentally brought it up and pressed V on it. Those are my theories so far.

I still appreciate any feedback, even if I don't agree with every suggestion ;)

I've never seen that on Android. I see you have a Spanish translation installed, so it might have something to do with that. Try asking the devs of the translation! Also bear in mind that the mod is probably not compatible with the Spanish translation.

SPOILERS

Thanks for the compliments and thank you for your suggestion! Though honestly, I have reservations regarding your suggestion. The only reason that I've decided to show a recommendation before the murder mystery is that butterfly would've implicitly spoiled the outcome of the murder mystery because of the repeated voting system. If you expect to be corrected when you vote incorrectly, then the whole segment kind of falls apart.

The trial doesn't have that same spoiler potential. And anyone is free to disable butterfly whenever they want anyway, like you did, if they want to raise the stakes. And finally, I think that failing the trial is a bit disturbing and there is a decent chance to fail on your first try. So, personally I actually wouldn't recommend everyone to turn off butterfly.

Hi! This was a bug in the day-one Android release of Eternum 0.9.5. It has been fixed since then; downloading and installing the new Android version of Eternum will fix it. My mod should be compatible with that version as well, so no need to update the mod.

You're in luck; for this walkthrough we've arranged that even black, grey, and white count as colors, so you're good. Unless you're one of those invisible dudes, then I have to ask you to get lost.

I assume you're Chinese; you need to install a translation to play the game in Chinese.

Hi, check out my colored walkthrough, it has all the info you need! For your particular problem, start reading from page 123. The walkthrough mod from this page would assist you too, but I'm guessing you want quick answers, so there you go.

Thanks!

Oh, that may be a bit misleading, yes. With "0.9" I was talking about this 9th Eternum chapter in general. Caribdis does this too. But nothing was uploaded by me when I posted that update.

I never uploaded a mod version that was just called "0.9". There's always an m in the mod version number. If the mod version starts with 0.9.5m.... and your Eternum version on the Credits screen is 0.9.5, then you're good to go!

Oof, that's a big question for such a small comment section. So instead I'll point you to this reddit post, with answers written by people who are a lot more qualified to talk about this than me.

The download options on Eternum's game page say "0.9", but the version you then actually download is 0.9.5.

It is out since yesterday, you can download it!

Yes, sadly, due to spammers.

Thank you, I kind of needed hearing that <3

Thank you for your forgiveness <3

Thank you! <3

Hi, I will publicly release the 0.9 version of the walkthrough on 2026-01-21 at 16:00 UTC, which is exactly when Eternum 0.9 is also publicly released!

I might spontaneously do a prerelease in the #spoilers-early-access channel on Cari's Discord server. Though I won't make any promises as for when I'll do it and whether I'm even going to do it at all.

I'd love to do earlier releases, but I'm working on this in my free time and I have to pay for early access like everyone else does.
