The art is amazing!! Very well done! Fits perfectly with the music and overall aesthetic.

However, I didn't enjoy the gameplay very much, simply due to a LOT of information provided all at the same time, I suddenly had about 55 papers on the murder scene, and I had NO idea where to even start!

You should stop the player from doing this (getting too much info and getting insanely confused, maybe make some of the dialogue options only available once you figure something out?), and you should add tooltips for the papers with explanations, so that you can review what the information actually means without having to exactly remember.

I like the different outcomes when you choose who to blame as the murderer! Very fun and interesting.

The collisions are the worst thing about this game, I spend more time battling with them that battling with enemies!

The ingredients also aren't utilised that well, or aren't explained properly. Yeah I did sacrifice my friend at the beginning, but do I even sacrifice anything during the actual gameplay?

Also, it's completely unclear, how I gather the points needed for upgrading, and how to upgrade overall.

AND, the audio should play from the beginning, not only after the cutscene. (sorry for the nitpicks)

It's a good idea for a game, and I loved the intro cutscene (bonus points for that xdd), and I like the dash!! And shooting!! But has a lot of room for improvement.

After playing the fixed version, I must say that the game is very fun!

The movement is VERY clunky though. When you release SHIFT you shouldn't instantly switch speeds, it should be a smooth transition. This is pretty jarring.

BUT! I like the graphics, the environments (Dejvická metro my beloved), the sounds and music are good, although they could use a bit of polishing (i literally cant understand the AI voice), even the chaning music enhanced the experience a lot B)

Also (nitpick), there's no reason to use the rocket launcher and pistol. They should be buffed!!

Few ingredients are used, but they're pretty well implemented. The castle! Sacrifice!

For a gamejam game, very fun. If polished (a lot), this could be a fun retro shooter!

The biggest downside for me was the messy audio. At the beginning in the tutorial, when you move your mouse ,you can hear very weird sounds! (of the hovering mouse over objects)

Also, the battle music ends before it gets intense, it starts building up, and then it's dead again. It should be intense from the beginning!!

And the battle sounds, I respect that  you've covered all animals! But the sounds are sometimes very weird and unsatisfying, but definitely kinda funny.

HOWEVER!! The ART is beautiful, the gameplay is VERY fun, and the vibe is great! It remind me of Botanicula (a scene where you construct animals from different animal parts, and you have to create the correct combination)

Not many ingredients utilised here, but sacrifice and reincarnation are done very well in my opinion, so I'll give props for that.

Very well done overall!!

That's funny, because a lot of people found this game very difficult! I'm glad it was't as hardcore for you as for others!

It's also possible to lose either by losing all your people, or lowering either the devil's or god's bar to 0%. But food is the most difficult to manage. And yeah, it's pretty unclear on how much food people eat each day, this should be looked upon.

Thanks for the feedback tho !!

Thanks for the feedback and for such nice words about the music and art <3

We had no time to finish the UI's graphics, as it was sadly a lesser priority than making the game functional. We're glad that the UI was at least intuitive!

Regarding the difficulty, you're right. The game IS very difficult, which was intended. However, we might've gone a little too far.

Thanks again!

This game reminds me of Angry birds space, which is a good thing! Pretty nostalgic.

Having the choice to either sacrifice the planets or save them is a very cool mechanic, gives me basically two approaches to all levels. The other ingredients are very slightly implemented, but the sacrifice one definitely is implemented well.

The game is difficult and could use a curve that shows you approximately where you're going to go based on gravity. But I appreciate the previous arrow staying! Helps a lot!

Beautiful graphics, interesting use of ingredients and very fun gameplay.

The authors are either VERY skilled with creating crazy good graphics quickly, or they've used assets created before the jam (there's so many different variations of environment!!)

Either way, the game looks and plays very well.

Sometimes, it was difficult to understand the tutorial (I got stuck at the part where you have to die to get multiple erases), and it was confusing that the second jump in the double jump was basically a dash (it didn't give you a vertical boost, but the animation implied that it would)

Otherwise, great work.

The broken checkpoints sadly weaken the experience, and I don't really have the patience to try again and again from the start :/ but I appreciate the attempt at implementing them <3

The idea is quite interesting, as in gathering orbs from platforms and putting them in different platforms to make them appear. I quite enjoyed this mechanic! Plus the respawning animation? Both felt pretty satisfying. If improved, this could be a solid platformer.

If fixed, this game could be really cool. 🙏

First of all, I really like the setting! It's very unique and tells a quite interesting story.

However, the story is told through a pretty basic platformer, with not-so-great controls.

But, there are some cool ideas regarding the platforming mechanic, and the art itself is very good.

The audio is pretty nice, but the music sadly doesn't persist after restarting the level, restarting from the beginning every time.

Also, the UI is clean!!

Overall, good job!! It's a nice little game with a nice take on the ingredients, just not crazily unique.

This game is catastrophically badly optimized, and unplayable :/

If there's something I learned while making games specifically in Ue4, ALWAYS INCLUDE GRAPHICS SETTINGS!!! Even if it's a gamejam!

The capsule colliders aren't hidden in game, thus making this feel like a debug prototype rather than a finished game (but I get it, it's a gamejam, there's no time)

I will however give you 4 stars for the audio, because I really like the narrator's dubbing in the beginning, and it seems like there are some nice sound effects present.

Hope this is a learning experience at least 😭

I LOVE the music, gameplay, art, everything!

The mix between a world-conquering map game and a factory simulator is amazing. I've spent about 45 mins playing this, and I can't get enough.

9.9/10

However, why can't I fullscreen? Is it a problem on my end? It's very annoying.

Also, at the start, it's kind of confusing on how to send the items to the nations. You should make it obvious that placing a cannon on it's terrirory gives it to the nation. I figured this out on the fifth playthrough, and then I got 2 whole nations!!

Anyway, great game. 99% sure this is going to be the winner.

A very fun and unique game!! I managed to get into day 13 I think? Not sure if there's an ending.

The graphics are awesome, and it's super impressive you did this in PICO-8! I always wondered if any gamedev uses this besides the devs behind the original Celeste, super cool.

Sounds and graphics are super clean, the gameplay very easily understandable + just enough challenging! And the learning/tutorial phase is expertly done!

Only thing I'd critisize are the cutscenes. they are far too long and the dialogue takes ages. First time playing, I skipped the cutscene, thinking the snake is just going to endlessly go left and right endlessly. This could be improved.

The ingrediences I didn't really see that well utilized, but maybe they are more towards the ending? Idk.

All in all, great job with the game !!!!

Thanks for the review!

Ships weren't all supposed to come from one direction, that's a bug, but at least it was easier to finish the game xD.

I know that lighthouses do this stuff automatically, but I thought it could be interesting to have the player do it himself, that's why I chose to implement it this way B).

Sadly I didn't really have time to implement more interesting gameplay mechanics (and to polish the ships backing up😭), but I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere!! It was a huge pain to get the lighting to look decent.

And I agree, 50 MB should be enough, again, I didn't have enough time to fix this issue ://

Thaanks for playing!!

This game is missing a key component, a SIMPLE and BASIC INTERACTIVE tutorial for the programming language used to play the game. After a long time, I kind of understood how some of the language works, but I have no idea how to actually use it to play the game. It's simply too confusing :/

However! I really like the UI and graphics! It's clean and works very well! I must say, this game has one of the best UI's (on a technical level) out of any gamejam game I've seen so far.

The music is also pretty relaxing, and simply nice.

Also, the theme is really interestingly implemented! Really like the idea!

If the game was explained better, I believe it could've been actually fun, but sadly I only got confused.

Ahh, that's an english error I didn't notice. Good catch.

Exactly the feeling I was going for, thanks 💯

:(( I need to do a mac version next time

I'm glad, thanks for playing!!

(1 edit)

The vibe reminds me of Firewatch! If you expand on this and maybe give it a narrative, it could be a very cool experience.

The footsteps are kinda weird though, and weirdly cut out and echoey sometimes. Should be looked at.

But it seems too long of a time investment xD

When I became "Ded" I really felt that.

Also pause menu is kinda broken, when I died, "Continue" did nothing.

Nice work!!

I'm glad... you had a lot of stress >:)

Thanks!!

Hahahaha I bet you can't wait. It will follow you everywhere you go...

Lawn's collider definitely is an issue, thanks for letting me know :)

I'll check yours out!

AMAZING, this might be the best game of the jam I've played!!

The visuals and audio are extremely polished, I love how the storm gets more intense as time progresses, that's SO COOL!!! And the final storm-tornado thing that destroy everything? I was just staring at it in awe. I love it.

The player controller is also very smooth.

I still didn't manage to beat it after about 5 tries, and sadly I don't have time atm, but I will definitely come back and try to beat it, since it is very fun so far! (Some gates have no wires tho, which is confusing)

You can sometimes jump around to get to places where you can't get the normal way, and I don't know it it's intentional. It makes the game much more fun, but makes it unclear if you're doing the right thing or cheating the game. Idk how you'd fix this tho. I managed to even get stuck in an area I jumped into too early.

Good job <3

Let's do it B)

Hey everyone! I'm in need of a few more ratings!

If you also need ratings, let me know and let's play each others games!

I don't want to blindly rate each other though, let's exchange proper feedback!!

https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-12/rate/2972860

Ayyy thanks! The UI issue is something I'm very upset with myself, it happens to a lot of people :/ I guess next time I'll make sure it works properly on all resolutions.

If you do the tasks in a random order, you should eventually win :D  but thanks for the feedback !

The sheep minigame is a really good idea, I might add something similar in a post-jam update.

Valid criticism, the interaction area could've been larger and clearer, sensitivity settings could also be added.

I watch some of my lectures online xD, so that's what I meant.

Anyways, thanks!

I really like the idea of you creating the weapons for the soldiers defending you, and how well you make them making a difference! That's a concept I haven't seen before.

I just wish there would be a way to visually distinguish well-made swords from bad ones. maybe make the good-sword knights more colorful? Idk.

I tried making the worst swords possible and I still got 1.5 stars twice xdd, but NICE!

I told you everything on discord already haha,  so nice game!!

Yoo a really fun game!! It was pretty confusing to figure out what to do at the start, but after I got to the final boss, I kinda figured it out haha. There could be a better tutorial i guess.

Also the theme isn't really utilised here, or at least not crazily well. But it's fun anyway, so I don't mind :)

Great job!!!

Yoo REALLY FUN!!

I really liked combining the boost and the melee attack, felt really satisfying!

I wish there was a better way to do slo-mo in the middle of combat, however really fun and satisfying to play!

Yoo thanks !!

Thx <3

Haha, I'm glad it was hectic! Thanks!

Man do I just love Unreal with the Steam VR stuff... I've heard of this issue and I'm appareantly supposed to disable it for each project somehow, but it simply never comes to my mind, since It's never booted up on my PC. I'll try to resolve this for future projects tho, thanks.

The text is a very good point, it could use an outline or something to make it more visible, I didn't have much time to polish the fonts :D

Anyway, thanks a lot!!

Haha, that's how it is IRL isn't it?

Tysm for playing !!

We all make stuff tired at 2am, it's okay. Let us know when it's fixed xd

we both are cooked

I don't really publish mac versions of my games since I have no way of testing these, but maybe I could try next time I get a chance. Good point.
