Yeah the gameplay is boring sadly, we decided to focus on the story too much and we left the mechanics last, it was our first game jam though, so we hope we will improve in the upcoming jams and focus much more on the gameplay

To clarify things:
If you talk to npcs they tell you fun facts about the gambling minigames.
You can buy items from the cat vendor to increase your luck and become more powerful.
Each combat level has a boss room, after defeating the boss you get a key for the next level. The room where the boss spawns has a door to go back in the overworld casino level.
Some sound effects for battle were added an hour before submission and we didn't get to playtest everything:(
The combat was all based on luck, you could buy lucky items from the cat vendor to increase your luck. Then in battle you had a hugher chance to draw a higher card than your enemy and roll a critical hit.
It was a lot of work, now we know not to make a game at this scale :)) The combat worked like this, turns alternate between defense and attack and every turn you draw a card, if you draw a card with a value higher than the enemy then you roll 2 dices, if both dices have the same value you deal critical damage. I wanted to add abilities too but time ran out.
Liked the game but couldn't finish it due to some bugs. When going in a room interacting with an item would glitch the audio and that item cant be picked up. I played it for like half an hour, found the white paint then went in every room and tried to find some more items to finish the game but the only item left was the one in the bugged room. There were also some collision bugs that allowed the player to walk out of some map rooms. Some guards could also detect me even when I had the uniform. I really liked the story telling and the gameboy feel was captured really good :)
