Hey sorry, I just saw this!  But we figured it out together in discord!

Thank you so much! What a great compliment! As for the expansion itself, it is only compatible with GuyEngine V2. V1 is essentially just a legacy plugin at this point.

The process of getting these through the PS2 hardware was a bit of a nightmare to figure out haha, but now that I know how to do it, it'll be great for my Kingdom Hearts expansion!

Haha thank you for saying that!  I'm definitely glad to hear that you enjoy both for different reasons.  There is something kinda special about v1.  I had to shelf it just because the framework I used when making it is just so limited, I needed to be able to do so much more.  That's how V2 came to be actually.  There were things I wanted to do that I just couldn't because of the limitations.  If you're still using it and getting enjoyment out of it, then that's great!

Thank you!!

Thank you!!

Hey!  The serial number is found in the "My Library" section of your itch.io account.

- Click the little arrow in the top right corner of your screen
- Click "My Library"
- Click on "My Purchases" on the left
- Click on GuyEngine V2
- Scroll to the bottom where it says "Claim download key"
- Click the button that says "Claim download key"
- Write it down! 😁

Hey thanks for your comment!

The expansions all go in /GuyEngine V2/Expansions/

An easy way to find it is to just open the plugin, navigate to the preset browser, and then in the top right corner, click "more" and then "show preset folder" and that'll open the /GuyEngine V2/ folder I mentioned above. You should see a folder for expansions. Inside that folder, you'll place all of the subfolders that start with "000"

So GuyPalette would be installed like /GuyEngine V2/Expansions/0006 GuyPalette/

Remember that all of the "000" folders that are included must be also in the expansions folder due to the plugin's indexing system. I hope that helps! Let me know!

Here ya go!

Requesting resolution for delayed payments and lack of communication.

I’m waiting on a few payments, the oldest of which was requested 22 days ago as of this post (that's August 23, 2025). There’s also additional money I can’t request yet because these payouts, and a third, are still pending.

  • Support Ticket #309245 - Payout #196352
  • Support Ticket #309675 - Payout #195775

Thanks in part to itch, my VSTs and sample packs have reached indie composers, musicians, and devs aiming for that late-90s/early-2000s vibe. I’m genuinely grateful for that.

However, the unexplained, prolonged withholding of creator payouts is unacceptable. Many of us (myself included) have integrated development into our livelihoods. Any delay of payment is concerning, and I’m seeing a number of public reports of far longer waits than mine, for even larger sums of money, with little follow up (like Vintage Story). These payout delays also affect collaborators I need to pay.

I understand itch is run by humans with limits. What’s made this worse is the silence: no clear timeline, no status page, and little acknowledgement for those waiting on funds that are rightfully theirs.  When was the last time an admin has responded to this thread directly?

I won’t speculate about causes - but I am concerned for the future of devs and creators on itch.

Regardless,

Payouts must be predictable and timely.

Because of this, I’ve de-listed all of my paid products on itch and moved sales elsewhere. I’d like to return, but trust requires on time payouts and transparent communication. Please process the payouts above or provide a concrete ETA, and publish clear guidance on payout review triggers and typical timelines.

I hope this is resolved quickly. With or without these funds, the platform has lost my trust as things stand today.

Okay great!  Here's a link to the server.  You can post in the tech support channel, or you can DM me directly if you're more comfortable with that.

Hmm well that's annoying! Would you be open to hopping on discord to troubleshoot in realtime?

Also, if all else fails, just totally delete any trace of the plugin, scan in your DAW so that it clears it out, and then reinstall the VST and scan again and that might do the trick

I'm not sure what 1.0.3.1 refers to, but GuyEngine V2 is currently on version 1.2.3.  When updating to a new version, make sure you either completely replace the previous version, or delete it entirely.  Older versions can cause conflicts with newer versions.

Also make double sure that everything is in the correct folder.  Additionally, if you're using VST2 and VST3, they must both be updated or they can conflict and just not work.

Hi, could you give me some more details?  What OS are you using?   What DAW are you using? Is this your first time downloading GuyEngine V2, or are you updating from a previous version?

Spyro is on my todo list, but it will be its own expansion

I love this idea!  Unfortunately those samples were pre-made to sound like that old-school low bit/sample rate vibe.  They were made long before GuyEngine was conceived, but I included them so that folks would have a bigger library to choose from.

A lot of those sounds are recreated in GuyPalette, and more of them are coming.  GuyPalette is going to get more content over time, so you will hear higher quality versions of those sounds.

Have you update GuyEngine to the latest version? The problem you're describing is usually associated with using an older version.

Try downloading the latest version (1.2.1) and see if that fixes it!

Hey thanks for your comment. This is a really common annoyance that comes from the framework. If you want to get back to the factory presets, you have to deselect the currently selected expansion in the leftmost tab of the preset browser. Then you'll see the left-middle tab repopulate with the factory stuff.

It's extremely annoying and we're working to fix it! But you can still access the content, it's just a dumb way to do so. 😠

I hope that helps!

Hey, version 1.2.0 shipped with an error.  1.2.1 was just uploaded literally moments ago.  If you grab that one and replace, you should be good to go!

Hey!  The impulse responses are a separate file.  Just go to where you download GuyEngine, and you'll see a zip file called Impulse Responses.

We're working on it!

Here, the music in this video is made exclusively with Materia. It uses the standalone rather than the expansion, but the contents within are identical.

Here ya go!  This video has a few demos.

Just click this little tab, and it'll pop right up for you!

Additionally, the loops in this particular pack were made using real 90's hardware - so those do technically contain the PCM samples from those synths, but what makes this different is that these are performances rather than "rips."  The melodic loops are quite literally just me playing the instrument - the original hardware.  As it is my performance, the legal license belongs to me and I'm free to sell or license it as I please, hence this sample pack!

So you can use these loops in your own music, but if for some reason you attempted to extract the PCM from the loop, that would technically be infringement, and against the pack's EULA.

Haha, thanks!  That's very kind.  And no I've never heard of anyone being targeted legally.  I highly doubt that anything like that would ever happen, but in the event that it did, it's very easy to prove that my sounds are original.  I wouldn't call those older samples the "source" so much as the "inspiration," as my work truly uses 0% of them, and 100% original creations.  For example you can null check my samples against any similar sounding PCM or retro sample and you'll see that it's very obviously not the same.  Alternatively, you can compare the spectrograms and see that they are distinct.

I'm not a lawyer, but I would strongly doubt anyone would come under any legal fire for using these samples.  There's just no real reason to.  If they would go after someone, it would be whoever they suspect of illegally distributing their copyrighted content - which is not me.  However, websites that distribute video game soundfonts (which contain those copyrighted samples) are susceptible to legal targeting.

If I'm being honest, the quality of my samples is not really on par with those classic samples.  While I do work very hard to evoke the feeling of that era, my sounds are still amateur productions made by one Guy™ rather than professionally recorded, processed and produced.  I'm very proud of the work that I do, but it's not really on the level of something like Roland, Korg or E-mu Systems.  And that's partially by design.

My samples are designed to sound not just exactly like the samples of those old romplers and synths, but specifically the unique texture that they take on when compressed for use in games like N64, PS1, PS2, etc.  I'm going for the "vibe" rather than a perfect 1:1.

I digress.  In short, there's no legal trouble with any of these works because they are all distinct and original creations that contain absolutely none of the data from the games or music equipment that inspired them.

Yes you can use any of my products commercially. Nothing is ripped or taken from other sources, it's all original. Many sounds are designed to be reminiscent of classic games and genres but are still made from scratch without any copying or ripping of any kind.

100% clear

Hey, thanks for reaching out, sorry to hear you're having trouble. Could you share your OS and specs, DAW and version?

Thank you very much!  Want to share anything you've made with it?

It's my pleasure! Thanks for checking them out 😁

Hello! GuyEngine doesn't have the ability to load external audio files, so these are just a stand alone pack of samples to be used in your daw or sampler of choice.

Currently it's just audio files, not compatible with GuyEngine V2 yet.  But eventually it will be!

Hi! Yes these are just tools to create your own music

Hello! Check out this video, it should help.

Beautiful music!  Thank you!

Nice job guys!

Ah dang, well it should work. If you're having trouble it might just be an install location thing. Let me know if there's any way I can help

I'm pretty sure that it does, but when in doubt you can always try the free version first to see.
