We are looking for a 2d artist.
I'm currently gathering people to form a little team of friends that
ocasionally participate on game jams, my goals is to have a reliable
team, grow our skillsets, learn about the process of making a game and
build our portfolio.
We currently have 2 people on the team, me and Cole. I'm gonna talk more
about us:
skidnney
(speaks portuguese/english | gmt -3 | 21yo)
musician and sound designer, i'm currently expanding my composing skills outside
my confort zone, listening and getting in contact with music from other cultures
and expanding my knowledge of music related to games. I'm developing a process of
research to learn specific styles that now are iconic, like, the n64 style, NES,
Orchestral and go on...
I can tell you more about my process, i love sharing knowledge
and learning with other people. I'm also learning togheter with cole how to use fmod
to integrate my music and sfx in our project, learning the basics of fmod is essential
for any game composer that want to work with games and beeing in a team like that makes
the learning process way fun and easier.
Cole
(speaks english | gmt -6 | 26yo)
he's a mechanical engineering and physics major with a masters in computer science,
fresh out of school, he's also have experience with 3d moddeling, physics simulation
and environmental design (architeture, plants, trees, procedural generation) and it's
now leaning rigging animation and fmod. he works on Unreal Engine and codes in C+ and python.
What we are looking for?
I will list the skills we need from an artist in order of importance:
• 2D Assets: 2D art of characters, objects, places, levels, UI and stuff like that.
• Textures: we need textures to put in Cole's models.
• Character Design: not essential, but it will add a ton of value if you know a thing
or two about basic character design, translating our ideas into visual input.
• Concept Art: again, not essential but will be great for us, all jam games start with
a bunch of ideas, if you know how to turn that into levels, environments, characters (...)
in a visual way, the process will be much easier.
it's okay if you don't have all these skills, you can learn and improve them along the way.
ARTSTYLE
i'm very receptive to any artstyle but i have some preferences...
i love hand drawn sketches, paper and photo collages, mixed media, vector, doodles...
we are not looking for a pixel artist.
I'm thinking about making 3d games with 2d assets and fully 3d game with 3d models.
here are some examples:
