Surprisingly fun shmup for one with shop system! Really ambitious too! It took me a while to get used to how the game works though.

That said, WOW, the ship inertia is REALLY aggressive in this game. I’m used to arcade shmups where there’s no ship inertia, and Western shmups typically don’t have, like, a lot of ship inertia. I think the ship inertia should be reduced or make acceleration faster.

I constantly ran out of energy at early and late game.

I think if I seriously considered going for scrap counterstop, I’d go for a:

  • Main weapon: shotgun
  • Sub-shot: quick shot
  • Third shot: rocket setup since the rocket shot is super duper good due to splash damage.

I kept manual shooting since I wanted to implement lives, so that precise shooting would be important. I ended up being under extreme lack of time, so I implemented death counter instead. I’d probably implement auto-shooting as a toggle by a separate button.🙃

3500 lives, WASD and left mouse click control, and homing popcorn is certainly mood. I really enjoyed playing it though.

Really creative game. But the heat spam is too egregious. I can’t play it for too long or else my fingers would break.

Enemies get INCREDIBLY fast at levels 10+. On one of runs I struggled to run away even when going all for speed options.

The vibes are really good though, I liked them. I got used to glitchy look over time.

The game was designed with bombs in mind, but I chickened out because I started to implement them a few hours before deadline. I wasn’t confident enough to make area collision in GameMaker. 😭 Hence why it’s so hard to dodge.

Yeah, I had to downgrade gameplay compared to Starry Sunshine. I don’t know why I decided to double dip despite knowing I’m in the middle of exam week.

Infinite lives were actually because of lack of time 😅 think I started to implementing life logic a few hours before deadline and I was just feeling catatonic wanting to make sprites for life counter. So I decided to hold on.

Did you know that you can cheese red fairies? Stand on one of bottom corners, then very sliiiightly tap to the left or right side. It’s actually a common bullet hell dodging technique AFAIK.

Not polished at all LOL, I’m just familiar with shmup dev, so I quickly mocked up how I usually make shmups.

And yeah, I did all art myself like for UGJ119.

So, yeah, next time I'm not working eith GMS2 editor's built-in palette. It's really aggressive in contrast TwT

I wanted less durable, but wide shot wielding enemies. I don't know how else I'd approach them. Some shmups like Raiden and Touhou have enemies that shoot bullets after being destroyed, but I wanted something that constantly shoots bullets...

Got a score of 447,300. How.

The softlock does happen with music having ended and boss probably existing somewhere infinitely off-screen or having silently despawned (I forgot what happens). Bombing while not colliding the bomb with the boss resulted in weaker milk, so I couldn't pull pseudo-infinite milk off.

Just got a score of 380,400. I believe there might be a pseudo-infinite score milk at bird boss' second phase that would result in a softlock since afaik the outro object won't be properly summoned, but I haven't tested it yet.

Fun fact: double KO with bird boss still results in a clear! Try it out. The "Lives left" field should result in -1.
