Amazing how such a simple idea can create so much fun. This is just a playground where you get to add in anything you want and have fun with it, and it gets more and more chaotic as you go. My only suggestion is to remove being "killed" (for example by sharks) entirely - it cuts the fun short. if getting hit by a shrk just launched me in the air instead, it would be much more exciting and on theme for the game
Thank you!
If there is one thing i leaned from this jam it's that no matter how easy you try to make it - as the developer you'll always struggle to understand what comes naturally and what doesnt to someone who's playing for the first time. I definitely could have spent more time teaching the mechanincs
The puppet-show theme is pretty cute! I know you only had 24 hours, but if you had more time here's what i think you could improve in your game:
Maybe give the chicken and egg different abilities / behaviours so the game changes depending on who you're playing as.
I seem to lose more points than i gain no matter what i do - maybe be a bit more generous with points :)
Good job on submitting a game in just one day!
Amazing game!!!
Through the first loop i was thinking to myself "wouldn't it be funny if they force me to remeber which cabinet I put each file in" and 5 seconds later I discover Thats exactly the point of the game. This is original, funny, looks and sound really good and most importantly - just plain fun!
(Not to brag, but I finished the game on my first try)
I'll start with the good, because there is a LOT of it:
Your game had me fully on board from the tutorial. The visuals are incredible (I stared at the main menu screen for a couple minutes lol) and the story really got me excited. Its a creative twist on the "stuck in a timeloop" idea, and the notes from your past iterations reminded me of my favorite games like Outer Wilds and Tunic. The pressure I felt going into this really had me excited to start deciphering. The line in the tutorial that said "if you know why you're here you know you should skip this message" (or something like that) especially made an impact.
I was a little dissappointed though to find I can just spam through the buttons to get the code right and I didn't actually need to do any puzzle solving.
There is definitely a good basis here for a time-loop puzzle game where it takes hundreds of iterations to get the right solution - its just missing the complex puzzle.
played and rated!
would love it if you could rate mine too: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-9/rate/1924318
It took me a while to beat even th first level, and I couldn't make it past the second, but the game is very good and very well designed!
the only thing it's missing is starting with a bit easier levels to teach the player how the game works before getting to the harder ones :)
now you don't have to but I'd be happy if you rated my game too: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-9/rate/1924318
I'm very close to 20 ratings :)
