thanks for the hard work :p

i just keep discovering stuff since i got a mister ... when will i get through the neo-retro games i missed lol .. another awesome looking and playing title here

lol yea wouldnt that be something ... (btw : https://retrosouls.itch.io/old-towers )

or how about this for a coding64 challenge :

https://store.steampowered.com/app/368230/Kingdom_Classic/

lol - in general if DOS is retro, if Saturn and N64 is retro id say md is retro why does it have to be so complicated - to me retro is 8bit too first thing i think but i dont do all that stuff like calling c64 oldskool and amige midskool (in which case an md would be midskool) i just love them all and call them retro, i bet vanilla WoW o a pentium3 800mhz will be retro soon enough - the game looks a bit like something called realm of the mad god it certainly looks promising

for a beginner its a lot but this is one of the best tools i could have hoped for as rank amateur noob lamer hobbyist (lol) who happens to be not rich to do hobbies with adobe either, some of the examples are so complicated they hang my medium pc here but its just awesome. I say if 1.4 takes longer then let it take longer, i always finished products over early access :p this is great work man

it runs great on linux mint (21.3 atm but before that too)

#!/bin/bash

awk '$0="!byte "$0' $1 > "$1.asm"

stuff like this and rodzillas material maker is like bumping into running water or sliced bread as a poor hobbyist (but its actually SO pro, i personally barely use the scratched surface here) ... when people do stuff b/c they do before they get paid and it turns into a passion, yo, this is great, thx man, i hope you keep on going at it until its as big as unreal engine haha

i understand, its like i said its for patient people and not of this time anymore ... ill give it a run tho with 2 or more players i against i and if i bump into something i'll let you know. Would be nice to see an a.i. but i have a hunch how not simple that is. Good luck with it, id love to see it happen, new stuff post-2020 that runs on fpga is always awesome

in case you read this still i gave it a run on the mister and sent you a mail (hopefully it arrives with the screenshots attached with some stuff) if you want to mail back so you can keep your itch feed here prim :p no rush ofcourse

actually its not that im not willing to try but i cant promise making several hours at once, and i dont know if retroarch runs the same on linux, maybe if you have some kind of PBEM mode like alpha centauri had, in that case i could do my turns when it suits , i certainly would give that a try, the old PBEM days are quite missable, like ppl who used to play chess by sending letters across the country or continent one move at a time (maybe im too ancient for the 2024 times) at any rate its great to see stuff like that being developed if you can do PBEM let me know ill be one of your strategic pen-pals lol

i appreciate the enthusiasm but im not much of a chatter anymore , i was just testing mister fpga stuff and came across this, i certainly have a steam account  : https://janesondergrond.art/index/janesgeems.php click steam profile you can always add but i dont chat much there either, i also dont have a windows partition anymore since the last one somehow forced my ssd firmware into a state of "overused" and i cant undo it (its a new one so its almost impossible that its past its read/write maximum)  but before i go offtopic too much ill certainly keep an eye on it, but mostly running it from mister fpga so to me the .vhd files are better . If this is a game-jam game then gamejams certainly have evolved lol.

this looks awfully promising for a 2024 neo-retro game taking full power of the old amiga, i havent gotten to the full play yet b/c life (and #stuff) but so far the farm update.hdf works, the dev version 2024 01 however gives something about .exe not found (i play on mister fpga , minimig, setting 68020 cpu/aga) - this is feedback, not criticism as a civ fan of the first hour on the st as a teenie id really like to see this thing happen, thx!!

very nice

"you have reached the end of tek demo" ... best demo on csdb so far this year hahah

i dont know enough about it to give any kind of decent advice, sorry , all i know, like websites on browser updates it tends to not survive every OS upgrade (while in fact i think the original idea was "appimage removes the need for all that")

good luck !!!

this is pretty good, reminds me of a game "spelunker" the kid loved to play a lot and that addicive hopman game by inufuto-the-multicoder ... since you asked for bugreports : the ST version (on mister fpga) doesnt work on ST or STe with emutos(1024) , the megadrive and c64 versions work fine but havent tested on the real c64 (tho i bet thats fine too) , not just the music but on the ST core it just wont start, GREAT STUFF OTHERWISE !!! (and since you asked, no trolling, just feedback) !! ganbarre!!

Operating System: Linux Mint 21.3

          Kernel: Linux 5.15.0-97-generic

    Architecture: x86-64

i get the errors that looks like i need a different compiler version or something similar on the appimage (usually that means "this will not work on this version number of your linux) as well as something about missing libflac on the standard download executable (im not trying to troll, just feedback , i know linux has become a mess where you need to hunt after and keep older versions around) fyi ... looking good tho i kinda wanted it

xcellent ... i could feel the marriage proposal coming, theres a few things like when they take briley and it switches to sebastian you can pass by the zone and theres no one there, but afterwards it flashes back to the zone and the story continues with her there ... and a few minor things that are probably due to lack of 500 playtesters (which i wouldnt wanna be b/c it would ruin the story heh - o woe ! ) ... thats not criticism but honest feedback from a gamer since yars revenge who digs jrpg style games a lot too ...

Assuming no one pushes the easyflash format to its potential (which is 2mb) and incorporates it into VICE as well as sells soldered kits from a new kungfu-type i can only hope you dont rush the next instance since you'll still "only" have 1mb to work with ...

Meanlawel seems stale, rpg64 is silent i havent heard about any others (jrpg or ultima style games are kinda more work than gamejams i suppose) so BWC3 is probably the next one ... take your time plz

gg , thanks!!

i get all kinds of error 403 ( = forbidden) when the page tries to include phaser as well , but it seems there are plenty oline, From what i see at a glance it gives cross-origin trying to load the script from a subfolder (as in the zipfile) ... but nobody here's a pro so in essence its too much hassle lol

and responsive too hheh, thanksss!! i just discoverd the loadmaterial from site i wont know where to look first this is like the shaders of unreal m not sure if ill have to make anymore myself but godot will be a labour of love for sure , this is great i hope you find the time to continue on it, sadly im not bill gates the supersponsor but ... i also hope you dont sell out lol , anyway, its not my business, but you do have something great here, i wish i could code at that level

i need to set the scaling (uv) on a mesh3d in godot to 3 / 2 / 3 but im fairly new to the whole godot thing

i just got it for something i want to move to Godot (which i mostly booted for the first time now) and this thing is pretty amazing, its like the $5 version of substance painter with options and limited to the person using it, quite intuitive , even for a lamer noob like us here. It has trouble closing (cinnamon mint 20.2) when its been open for a while (but the pc is what atm would be low-end i suppose, intel Xeon i7 and a gtx 970 w 16gb ddr4 (its a nice benchmark if things run on that they got options for more) and its not the only application that seems to have some trouble with cinnamon. I cant say if its a memory thing or anything else b/c im keeping it open at the same time as godot. Im not complaining (but i bought it anyway heh) tis just fyi . Anyone who cant tax deduct stuff like notch and adobe probably needs this. thx !! looking forward to more (especially 10000 cc0 mats on the website by 2025 hahah )

thanks, i figured it out the hard way already but thanks for answering. I basically used a hex editor to copy paste the chunks (CHIP s) and how to use eapi, other than that 64studio isnt in a total finished state but does the trick ... looking forward to bwc2 !!!

Insight, foresight, more sight :p ... more important to know where to be on the screen after a wave than to have tekken 8 valid reflexes . That was a real nice 16kb , i assume 2021 moved to zetawing but im glad to see the "official announcement" at RGN for briley2 , this must be the first shmup i finished in like decades heh

(1 edit)

hm ... my type of rpg but the scrolling is a bit epilleptic lol, nonetheless im gonna try and pwn it (pretty priced tho, add 21% VAT for gatland a bit on the hi-side but i guess for once ...)

thats awesome and thanks for your time (sorry to bother) self-modifying code would be the point for a "persistent world" like at least one ultima i remember, but i'll do some more poking around and check back in the mail later. Again sorry to bother, enjoy your vacation !! (i notice the briley .crt image on my kungfu carts asks if i want to overwrite (=save games) the image so i play from a backup. I will definitely mail you after i prod around some more. pioneering alchemy lol have a great day overthere

hai, sorry to bug you again but im stuck with a question mark (nothing to do with your fabulous work as such but i thought asking cant hurt)

If you could be so kind : what cartridge format have you used and what tools to combine the banks or compile the code into one .crt image please. Im personally much interested in 1mb format .crt images and it seems the docs arent very abundant. If you dont wanna give away trade secrets i totally understand but i thought asking cant hurt.

Thanks in advance (even if you keep it NDA hehe)

Hai, i was very interested in the "compiles to easyflash(1mb)" format, however i seem to have some issues and before i start an archeological dig on tools and docs i might as well ask : (most tools i find come without documentation for CLI and/or have their original websites removed, vice has a cli tool but you need working .crt files for that if i dont misunderstand)

so the thing : i install the program and it boots just fine, however no wizards and it wont run vice (gtk3.6 64sc) when building (but thats not the real problem) im on USA-dos (windows) 10 64bit (obviously) for this so maybe im missing something im not a daily windows user. i know a bit of asm ( https://janesondergrond.art/dl/#c64 ) and would like to know more in order to create a game sometime between now and 2050.

The problem is here i load the easyflash template and it compiles but vice hangs on a blue screen. If i load the 64kb template and compile it, add some code to switch screencolor between banks it all works but i cant add more b/c i get too many bytes error or something - oversized )

If i copy the code from that to the easyflash file it doesnt work either, if i use the example from codebase i get the same blue screen so

(sorry for the lengthy text) is there some kind of pointer or tutorial (or full script with several banks and how to switch) i can use for 1 mb carts . Im sure i can find it and puzzle it together if i spend weeks googling but since asking is free i thought id start with that.

The format doesnt really matter as long as its .crt and 1mb which i can load into my kungfu (and should work on an easyflash hard cart i suppose) and there doesnt seem to be too much docs on it or maybe i just didnt find it

Long question for a probably short answer, nothing urgent, if you feel like it it would be awfully nice if you had a pointer or a script somewhere, thx !!

wow , thats active, keeping a tight eye and replying the same day yourself, i must say i have been nothing but impressed and the way the game uses the 1mb format (like EOB, the scene-release) opens up vast possibilities (including in my dreams games surpassing the 10 disk 1,8 mb format of some ultimas) by using crt images as floppies and a floppy to save (just dreaming)

I read you write lite novels and short stories too so i dont have to guess who did the storyboard and the directing heheh and to hear you are already on briley 2 fills my 64 with joy ... as always as i ask anyone on and off scene, (thanks for everything but) dont rush it plz, just release when ready so its the best possible experience.

Thanks in advance (and retrospective) for all the hard work, i enjoy a blast of neutron now and then too but since im a finish-the-gamer more than a run-with the packer i wont get to the zetawings until i killed neutron first (a nice projcet too for a 16kb .crt compo)

You truly have some mad skills. Im really looking forward to more witchsoft (and smokey !!)

(and thanks for the really fast reply - quality CS you wont get from crotter hahah) have a nice day !!

Im finally past the point where i can get out of town ... i was wondering all the time if this was a one-person project but there seem to be two (which doesnt make it less impressive) im just gonna have to put this in my all-time favourite top 10, more like 5 probably top 3 games ever for the c64 (exclusive ?)

Altho i understand the massive amount of work it must take for 2 people to fill up 670kb of cartridge memory we are all rooting to see the engine used for more ... it seems like a waste to have a storytelling framework like this used for only one game ...

now , if everyone dont mind, im gonna continue some

i do i did and i have , theres a lot of trees on the map tho :p

thats good to hear, i hope to see more of your stuff too

--potential spoiler alt---

First of all id like to stress how much i like the game (with a full cinematic demo at the end). I hope you get through the turbulence with business going belly up here and there and everywhere and also the EU-sabotage on the carts and we'll see the start of a series to be known as finalfantasy64 heheh

But, im not sure if this is a bug and if you're still active on it (i can imagine motivation has taken a hit but scenoids never stop, right?) but it "made me look" and now i kinda half feel like i lost the game because i didnt look in every tree in every forest.

the thing is when i got back from dragonland (the old frozen world) i didnt get anymore encounters on the green lands and stuck with 4 coins (pay coins) i couldnt get more items so i think the item needed to de-freeze the guy was out of reach.

Now i found thanks to 8bit flo (and some serious cursor keying) that i was actually one-click away from the end (o irony) but i really thought i was stuck b/c i couldnt unfreeze the guy , so

fyi : if its intentional its not a game-breaker since i could just finish it after seeing the final tree , if its not then its a bug (vice-windows, i cant run the .d64 on the sd2iec and the .d81 wont save tho on my sd2iec if i attach a .d64 then go to the c64 screen i CAN save files "10 print helllo" and stuff so not sure (its a sd2 drive from futurewas8bit.com)

thus ... thanks for the great game, maybe you'll try your hand on EOB2 or a meonlawel / briley witch style ... or a 1,8mb ultima 6 10 disk (nevermind)

i hope you continue, if just to the scene and that was my usual shorthand way of saying something fast
