I'm talking about a desktop application, but the real answer is that I'm actually talking about DRM. You may like it or not, I realize, but that's another story... I have no difficulty believing in your words, but I've also noticed that many publishers only leave a demo here, and then sell the full game only on Steam... Could it be a coincidence?

The itch app give access to some services to authenticate the user and check  if the copy is purchased or not... That's all.

Hello. I'd like to know if is possible to discourage the download of game from a browser, in favour of itch app. This question because of I'm using server side API to authenticate the user, implementing manifests with .toml files.
Thanks.

Really no solutions?

Hello everybody!
First time on itch.io and first game uploading... I've a draft page of my game on itch.io. I'm trying the butler application and I think I understand most of how it works. But I have, still, a problem.
My game come with a demo. The demo itself is maded by same files of complete game with just a library omitted. Consider also my game is arranged to accept future "expansion packs"... Because of all, I need demo, complete application, eventual expansion packs stay in same folder, after downloading. I've noticed, instead, they are downloaded on differents folder.
How can I solve it, if possible?
