NEW VERSION OUT NOW, with added pause menu

HEY if you look at my profile, I uploaded a new version of the game with a pause menu. you seem like an avid gamer so I challenge you to make it to 8 minutes

pretty funny game. look down and hold left click, your screen will be bright pink, you will hear "ARRGH", and then you win. Its an odd one but I can tell that you guys were laughing your heads off when making those sound effects so thats what matters at the end of the day

this game has slightly glitchy assets. 1 star

Roguelikes are favourite genre and I really like what you did here with the binding of isaac-esque game combined with the theme. I sensed the bugs but I don't know how they were a feature. I found myself just getting frustrated when the room just went black etc. Also It took me a while to realise that I had  to click the staff to be able to be able to use it, silly me. But to be fair, the writing etched into the floor was quite hard to read, you must have chosen to do this because it looks like it suits the environment but, at the end of the day, they looked quite bad and didn't serve the purpose. 

I made a game like this once, called Agent Googar (see my itch) for the last summer game jam so I realise just how hard it is to make a game like this in only 4 days. Don't let my grouchy criticism dissuade you from making games, you did a fine job. Keep up the good work.

I can't tell if the game was actually buggy or if it was meant to be lol. Sadly I couldn't get past the first bit of dialogue because of the lag. If you manage to fix it and reupload, let me know and I'll play it!

Thanks For Playing!! Yeah I didn't have enough time to implement a pause feature because the game pauses when you level up so it would've been a bit tricky last second. I think it fit quite well with the theme because you use the common unity Errors to upgrade your character. Maybe im just dumb but it was the best i could come up with. Oh and the insects are just because I didn't know what to do for enemies and since bug also meant insect, i did that. 

Also, as soon as you spawn in, It says that ESC = quit, Another last minute addition, I apologise if it wasn't very noticeable or intuitive.

cool core mechanic, although you can grapple onto your existing rope which meant I couldn't shoot the grapple hook properly in certain situations.

i didnt attempt the parkour too many times because there was no checkpoint :(

hey guys, found a bug for you. if you have a full inventory and press E on an object, then use an item to free up a slot, then press E anywhere, you will pick up the item you tried to pick up before. 

I found this by accident when i picked up a snowball from across the map.

so much potential. i can see from the google drive link that there's tons of cool art, sound, concepts and ideas that went into this. honestly, if you guys just keep going with this over summer and keep it simple, you could finish the game with the assets you have now. i was thinking of downloading the project myself and doing it but then i realised that 1. that would be incredibly disrespectful. 2. it would be a weird flex and 3. i have no idea what the design was and where it was going. but yeah i nominate nathan to try and complete the game and just do some simple enemy stuff.  it would be amazing to not have those beautiful assets go to waste. dm me if you need advice but im not that good so maybe i wouldn't know. im great at simplifying hard stuff though.

hahaha sorry we are working on a fix for that problem, we will get on that shortly.

honestly, great work guys. games like this are hard to come by, the art is f***ing epic, the sound is great and the game is really functional. there is **Actual** gameplay and i enjoyed it. im suprised we even completed this game jam so the fact that you managed to squeeze so much work into a small amount of time shows pure GUMPTION! keep up the good work and ill look forward to doing a collab at some point!

cheers rico, you said that 'functionallity' was the problem but you listed alot of what i would consider to be design choices. i'm the programmer so if something like movement, shooting, snowman AI or health doesn't work then i'd like to know that. thanks for your concern about the design tho, we realise that including the instructions in the game description wasnt good enough. Also. we know the setting REALLY didnt make sense and that we used those assets because its all we could find which means the presentation suffers but you fail to explain how the gameplay itself was less fun. was it too easy? was it that shooting heals too much, that windows take too long to close or that the snowman runs away too quick? or was it that the core mechanics actually weren't fun?

its cool if you get back to me on this but i understand that its christmas and that you may be busy lol

hey guys, personally, im  really happy that everyone seemed to think our idea was original but my friend is quite worried about the fun and presentation of the  game. i was wondering if anyone who played 'snowicide prevention' could

 drill into us and tell us what we did wrong so we can come back stronger for the next one! 

oh yeah same for us, seems like we needed to finish the game halfway through the time limit to be able to playtest it enough. bugs happen when we only have 4 days

really good game all round, i loved the grappling hook mechanic and it gives me that hollow knight vibe and some undertale characteristics with the town and the graphics. however, i think we broke your game. the penguin boss guy just disappeared and we got stuck in the hole because the camera  is fixed.  still, really good game guys!

headphone warning! lol! its a great idea and i love the design of the little penguin guys but you need to explain that you need to pick up snowballs to be able to throw them. took me a while to figure out. also the movement is a bit janky but apart from that, Great  game!!!!!!
