Thank you very much !
We added a little feedback for the mail one after various comments about this, hopefully it should be a little better. The mails remain the same though, the ambiguity is important to us in this one (since you would need time to read mails and sort them properly but you just don't have it)
Thank you so much ! We're very glad you noticed the clocks on the main menu =)
We added a little feedback for the mail one after various comments about this, so hopefully it should be a little better We've left the clock one as is though, since we thought the feedback was best to be had after completing the game once to encourage replaying and to avoid breaking the player's count
The concept in really neat !
The visuals and sound design are really nice too (I'm especially fond of the animation where you... well... condemn an innocent)
The 20 seconds limit made it pretty hard though, I haven't managed to clear 4 rows once during the time limit even though I played in human mode
I had a hard time with the controls as I kept eliminating people I didn't intend to pick, but maybe that's a skill issue on my part
Really great game
I love the way the rules add up bit by bit, and the difficulty curve feels very nice
The game feels very polished, and it's really impressive how well balanced it feels given that it's a jam game
It could be nice if you could add localization for different keyboard layouts though, but it's not a major problem since you're only asking for WASD and most people are familiar with their placement on a QWERTY keyboard (it might just add a slight handicap)
I think the change is mostly noticeable (especially with the lighting, and the cursor is a really nice detail I think - hadn't noticed that the fox got brighter though), it juste made me wonder why the light had a different effect on the fox during day and night, and since I hadn't read the description I did not understand the rule was different depending on the time of the day at first
I think I'll try checking your game again in a few months, then
It makes me very curious to see what you have planned
For the suggestions :
- it could be nice adding an "if" statement to avoid launching the same level twice in a row.
You could even remove each level already finished from the pool before resetting it once they have all been tried
- going from day to night can be a bit confusing as you're not expecting the rules to change (well that's mostly on me since I didn't read the game description first, but it didn't seem necessary to understand the rest of the game). It's not really a problem as you can understand what's going on pretty quickly, but maybe changing the spirit's color (or even model) could help distinguish them visually and give an in-game explanation for the change in mechanic ? Or is there another in-game explanation ? (I'm genuinely curious)
Thank you very much !
I'm really glad you could feel a difference in the passing of time between games
I'll see what I can do for the mail icons but it will probably have to wait after the holidays since we're planning on joining a new jam tomorrow (so we're resting and trying other games from the jam today)
I absolutely adore the game concept (I had seen a video of it from the discord and I really wanted to try this game first when browsing submissions) and it's very fun to play. It's also very cute and polished visually.
I think it would be a nice improvement if you could capture the mouse in the game though. As someone who likes to have a pretty low sensibility, it wandered off the game window quite often and it was a bit frustating at times. I would also have little suggestions to share for user experience if you're interested, but nothing too significant.
I see that there are other levels planned apparently ? I'm pretty eager to see that as well. Thank you for sharing this game, it was a very nice experience.
Thank you very much !
For the font, there are a few features with Godot that make the switch quite easy.
First, I'd recommend using a theme (see the documentation for Theme if you're unfamiliar with it) and simply changing its default font via code when you press a button - it's just as easy as changing any variable.
To make things simpler and more mangeable (and keep coherence), I'm using the same base theme everywhere on a parent control and adding more specific tweaks with new themes on children controls.
You can also use containers like vbox and hbox to keep things aligned correctly.
This is what made everything work so well in this project at least (with the exception of the quote at the beggining which required to move every control on font change).
I would also recommend using fonts with a similar size, or maybe trying to tweak the font files to get a better match (haven't had to try that yet).
You can also change the default size with the theme, but it would not work if you're changing it locally.
Thank you very, very much !
This comment really made our day yesterday, as it was our very first comment on any game we made (except people we know) and it is just so nice. We're seriously thinking about printing it and framing it x) Sorry we took so long to respond, we were a bit overwhelmed.
And don't worry, we're definitely planning to keep it up !
