This game created a lot of funny moments for me and my friends. Because of my own forgetfulness, I had some troubles running it initially, but when I extracted the game, it ran well. I got a score of about 8,000 before I lost to the hammer minigame because my depth perception is terrible. I know you guys don't plan to continue working on the project, but I don't think it'd hurt to find some royalty-free music online and add it into the game! Or, you could even reach out in the community and see if any composer would like to retroactively make something now that there's free time. It would really elevate the player's experience, and it could help a creator add something awesome to their portfolio.

I love the approach your team took the game, too, micro minigames are super fun and a great way to teach! Kudos to you all :))

The aesthetics of this game are incredible. It's super eye-catching, and I love how you guys made the 3D elements really stand out! The humming of certain machinery when walking nearby and the SFX were all on point. I think it'd be awesome if you guys added some concept art in the final level hallway + more relevant resources and images.  It may also be cool to give the player character a design, too! Helps people feel more connected in the world.

In regards to some technical stuff, I experienced a small bug where the screen was flashing black whilst playing. There were also times when the security systems panel model would disappear when walking close, which is honestly such a small thing in comparison to everything this game has going for it.

Overall, super awesome game! The visuals hammered home the environmental story-telling, and I hope to see more from you all soon!

First and foremost, I will say, I LOVE this cute lil sea lion. The colors of this game are super pleasing to look at, so kudos for that!

Though, I will say some of the environment settings confused me! I understand it's part of the narrative, but some of the choices for environment were more difficult to navigate (e.g. climbing inside of the trees). I had some small issues with collision, particularly in this area where I would have to wiggle the character through some gaps in the trees. I would also love to see some more visuals, like during the opening. Since the narrative is introduced as a story, it would be neat to add some more visuals and make it a storybook or a dusty research notebook to show the lack of engagement with this theme (like the human character talks about near the trees). I think it may also help if the camera is centered, too, so the player is able to look before leaping.

Otherwise, the platforming was fun! One of those games that makes you tell your friends, "just one more time!" Love it.

Played this game during the prototype, and I'm astounded to see how far it's come! I hope you and your partner feel proud of the work you did, because everything is incredible. Tagging onto some of the other comments, I would definitely love to see some more material engaging with the theme, and perhaps a stronger lean into environmental storytelling instead of the dialogue-based approach some reveals took (e.g. the AI-generated disasters being revealed at the end).

I would also like to recommend having the dialogue controlled by a button press rather than being timed to skip, cause my friends and I love to read through game conversations but struggled to pick up key points when the text disappeared. Otherwise, I LOVE everything about this, and I hope you guys work towards more great projects in the future!

Hello Jace,

Thank you for your kind words! The hazards are actually drawn, too, but were unfortunately implemented too small-scale to see. Here's the full art if you want to take a look! Thematically, the "spikes" were meant to be scrap metal from the fires, as scrap can hold traces of flammable materials. It also ties in with the presence of machines, too.

Thank you for playing Orbyter!

Hello William,

Thanks so much! To answer your question, yes, AI-generation is one of our UnNatural Disasters. However, I will NOT be using ANY AI-generation, as it goes strongly against my beliefs and is harmful to the environment. I'm eager to touch on that topic in particular when the time comes. Thank you for your kind words, and good luck with your game, too!

Hello Khaprani,

Happy to help with that! Thanks for checking out Orbyter 💙

Hello G,

Thank you for your comment! I know the lack of relation to climate disasters was a common concern players had, but I can assure that we have lots of fun, engaging ideas to tackle the theme. This playtest was more focused on movement and mechanics. I'm hoping we'll be able to get another playtest out before the deadline, but we'll have to see how progress is going. Here a teaser of one region to look forward to!

Hello TheImmuneCkay,

Glad to hear you enjoyed the story direction! We put lots of effort into everything. For more concept/inspiration art, I encourage you to check out our game page full of more conceptualization. We weren't able to fit a moodboard onto the required one-page game document, so we stuck to the essentials and filled in from there + linked sources. To clarify about the disasters, there are actually several Natural and UnNatural Disasters, but we showcased sinking cities and generative AI on the doc. The labels for such can be found below the image.

If there is a way we can better communicate this in the future, I'd love to hear any potential suggestions you have! Thank you for checking out Orbyter, and we hope to impress you with our prototype :)) -Rotogi

Hello William,

Thank you for taking the time to write this warm comment! I'm glad we were able to communicate Orbyter's character well, and we're excited to show even more of their lovable charm in the game. To answer your question about the choices, the player will have the option to backtrack and spend extra time revitalizing the world before reaching the ending. This may include putting out fires, pumping water into the ground, etc. Completion goals will be real-life solutions based in science to inform players of the ways they can help. The ending will change depending on the choices players make.

We hope to see you for Orbyter's launch! Thank you :)) -Rotogi
