Oh wow, the atmosphere and and artstyle hooked me immeidately! Making movement a part of the fun really helps give this game it's own identity. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!

Congrats on your ScreenAus success too :)

Hey thanks for playing!
Appreciate ya making a vid of you trying it out too 👍

Hello! A linux executable has now been uploaded; alongside an update to the demo addressing some bugs.

Sorry for the delay, and thanks for your patience 🙏

Hey I'm really sorry; but it turns out the Linux build did not work 😞
I'm working from a Windows machine only, so unfortunately it's quite hard to troubleshoot these Linux builds which are honestly new to me.

If I come up with a solution/working Linux build, I'll be sure to upload it here and reply to this comment for visibility

EDIT: Same issue with the mac version. My apologies for the moment

Rat Trap is a 2D hand-drawn metroidvania adventure about a lab rat trying to escape it's captivity.
What havoc could a rat cause if it came across a mech suit...?

Swap, Fuse and Split to escape!

Featuring high-speed gameplay, dastardly puzzles and multiple playable characters with unique abilities and upgrades.
The demo / standalone microvania contains 30 - 80 mins of gameplay with plenty of secrets, along with a colection tracker and speedrun timer.

I would love to hear any feedback you have on the game, good or bad!

Happy escaping!

Hey thanks so much for the feedback and for getting through the demo!

There are a LOT of things the player learns throughout this demo, so you may have noticed that I tried to keep tutorials quite sparse when I could.
But this approach certainly also has it's downsides, as I think you're quite right in suggesting the pace and cognitive load demanded from the player is pretty high throughout.

In the full release, there would be so much more time and space to play around with each character, mechanic and ability so the learning curve isn't quite so steep.
So I 100% agree with you!

And the optional puzzle is certainly a tough one!

Cheers for your help! I have some suspicions of the root cause and will look into updating the demo to resolve ASAP :)

Such a kind comment! Thanks so much for playing

Hey thanks a bunch for playing and for your kind words!

Bummed to hear about the performance drop though, I can't apologise enough about that. If you remember, did this happen at any specific point in time? (when you unlocked another character for example?)

I will certainly look into it!

Awesome work! Cool idea, I found the most un screens where the ones where the camera was locked. The horizontal arrows got me good.

Very well done! Great AI work for such a short time

Briliant idea! Very satisfying puzzle too. I think you could expand on this implementation for sure

Nice job! I think this could become very addictive with a few more units and levels. Cohesive art style works well too!
