I slowed them down a stage in the new update, and its better, theyre still too fast to dodge but theyre visible now, WAY better speed.

Yeah i ended up doing the new event page thing, I initially misunderstood your comment and thought you meant new map page but found your meaning when i couldn't do that easily.  now old man self switches to

The maps will be bigger when the game is built out more so the rats will be less crowded.
these are placeholder maps to reference after i intended to get some free,  drawn assets off this website.

Im shooting for a squished up tinymap concept game which i will then paste the events onto new big pretty maps when im done.

yeah those chickens are just a 4 healthbar battle at these speeds on these maps, its for sure going in the fix notes.

I would definitely be interested in some art help, but i dont think im at that point quite yet.

fun fact, the shop is a rude guy who wont let you inside because that was the first map i built and accidentally used non steppable tiles and decided it was a story beat instead of fixing it, im adding a switch that makes them change to walkable tiles when you are wearing expensive stuff.

Yeah so ALL my guys respawn when the area reloads, and I really appreciate you showing me how to fix that.

The rats only exist to frustrate the player, they are next to the heal pad and they only poison and dont even damage, so they force you to keep turning back into the healing room over and over, just kind of a hostile design to make the world feel inhospitable and unwelcoming.  I did NOT mean to make them vanish on escape but i think it's conveniently merciful considering how annoying they are.
I might slow them down a stage so they can be seen better.  but my logic was that there are always rats in a medieval town and the rats in my world are venomous because of evolutionary pressure of living near monsters or maybe a wizard did it.
the poor kingdoms will have more rats, the richest kingdom wont have any rats.

the players choices can effect the economy  of cities and change the number of rats as game progresses.

I got so sick of that guy transforming that it's a floating crystal now.
but I still  have a level where a pheonix chases you and it keeps transforming into a big purple demon when it moves.  all my big guys turn into either a grim reaper or a big purple demon when they move. .

I really appreciate your feedback. it helped a lot.  and i agree it's confusing right now, it makes more sense in the notes and will eventually be clear in game.   although the whole "why is there sci fi in my fantasy" is a deliberate nagging question with an actual answer later in game.

Thank you so much, I will keep updating the file as i work so this game will keep improving.
Today i made a new quest and filled out the potion crafting system work and sorted and statted 25 different ingredients and potions

Tomorrow i will definitely do the movement controls you suggested on characters like the rich old guy and portal him to a jail room on the smokemap after he dies.
