I have a full time position available in NYC for a game developer. Can be remote but an in office candidate who can commute some number of days a week will be heavily preferred for when we go back to work. I have posted the description below but you can also see it here at the indeed link, and if you are interested please apply via Indeed: https://www.indeed.com/job/html-game-developer-92ca63be1cb44ad1

--------------

Halo Media (halopowered.com) is seeking a motivated individual who is passionate about building digital experiences to become a member of our rapidly growing team in the heart of NYC (and all over the world). This role is ideal for someone who loves to create engaging experiences, building game jam style games, and loves playing small team indie games.

In this role you will help us create both original concept as well as reskinned games and experiences for our clients, as well as developing repurposable game engines for our product library. The role is not limited to purely game development and can also work on heavily experiential work as well.

This is a Junior to Mid level role. The role will include both team projects and solo endeavors, so you need to be a self starter. Please include a portfolio of relevant work examples you have done with your application. Happy to look at contributions on itch.io and Github as well.

Characteristics we look for in our team members:

  • Be Thorough: Own your work, stand by it, and put in the extra effort to over-deliver. Be critical of your work on even the smallest projects and always push to do better.
  • Be Organized: Write clean code. Optimize your assets. Keep clean records. Manage your daily workload.
  • Be a Teammate: Work with designers to understand the asks, work with producers to allocate your time, and be a vocal member of the team who contributes whenever they can.
  • Be Curious: Focus on learning more and always pushing to know the next thing. Share your knowledge with others.

Qualifications

  • College degree or comparable education/experience in related field(s).
  • Experience with at least one game development engine for the web such as Phaser, Unity, Gadot, Construct, etc. Experience with multiple or app development a plus.
  • Working knowledge or experience with HTML, CSS, JS. React/Angular/Vue a plus. Having built a functional website before heavily preferred.
  • You can open a Figma and extract assets, and prep your own sprite sheets or image assets. Design chops a big plus.
  • You know what is going on in the gaming world, and not just for AAA Console and PC releases. Web, Casual, Indie and more.
  • Experience with Git

Nice to haves

  • AR/VR development
  • Experience working with CMS platforms like Wordpress (both standard and headless), Netlify, Strapi, or any number of others. The more the merrier
  • Shopify (liquid development language or Platform ops)
  • Bootstrap
  • Bitbucket
  • Google Analytics, Search Console, Lighthouse
  • Just because it is not here does not mean it's not important, so tell us what you know

What we offer

  • The opportunity to work in a laid-back but hard-working (remote) office full of passionate creatives and development nerds in the heart of New York City
  • Health, Dental, Vision, 401k…all that sweet, sweet insurance stuff.
  • A strong “right-brain/left brain” client roster. We build digital experiences for many fun folks you’ve definitely heard of as well as some others you probably haven’t.
  • Work directly with agency leadership on a regular basis
  • Ability to help us grow a team — you’ll be an integral part of shaping our agency culture
  • A fun, supportive team that works hard and plays hard together. Karaoke is not mandatory, but it’s highly recommended…never mind, it’s mandatory.
  • Flexible working environment

Job Type: Full-time

Looking for Pixel artists and/or Developers who would be interested in building a game similar in look and style to the old Lucasart/Sierra games (Monkey Island, Hero's quest, etc). Would be amenable to teams or people who run solo.

Would be building the game in conjunction with an indie rock artist to support the story from their album. Game would be short, playable in 1-2 sittings, and would ideally need to be build for browsers and mobile web. Open to Phaser/Unity/whatever. It is a marketing piece in that it is tied to the promotion of an album, but we want it to be a real experience as well with a well crafted story and polished play experience.

If you are interested send an email to gamedevs (AT) halopowered.com with your availability, portfolio and/or resume, location, rates, and a bit about yourself. This would be a paid contract engagement.

Some (simpler )games my team have put out before are below. What we are trying to make now is more ambitious:

Fantastic game you have here, reminds me a little bit of Half-Minute Hero from the PSP days. Anyway to contact you directly for potential commission/paid work?
