Thanks for playing!

BTW, I believe the last key you're referring to is the one in the C1 shelf in the library (it's kinda just placed on top of the books).

Edit: OH, I just realized I may have written the wrong shelf number for the hint, that's embarassing xD. Thanks for pointing this out.

I loved it. I appreciate that the terminal acts like a real terminal and I can instinctively use commands like ls or clear. The screen effect and typing sound really help it stand out from other terminal emulator games. In fact, it was so well done I was tricked into a sense of security and forgot it was a horror game jam... and you probably know how that went haha.

Thanks for playing! FYI, you can always select the "Compromise" option in the game over screen to receive extra handicap health any time you die, so the game can be as manageable as you want. I appreciate the honest opinion though, and I definitely should have made the game more accessible.

I really liked the small math puzzles in the middle! For some reason it reminded me of older games that has a lot of weird little mini-games. I also appreciate the subtle pixel-art animations, like when the protagonist leaves the room or when the uncle is stumbling backward, it really adds to a scene that would otherwise just be static.

Wow, definitely a unique game! Love the art direction and sound design.

The gameplay is also very cool! I think it's really hard (or maybe I'm just missing out on some mechanics), but that's a good thing since it encourages experimentation. One strategy I came to use was always having wood on stock with the minions, so they can be ready to repair as they are helping the witch brew. Given this strategy, I think it might be nice to have an indicator that a minion is already holding since I lose track sometimes.

One other mechanic that I thought could fit (but you might disagree) was maybe some way to heal? Or atleast regen. On one hand, the game gets very tense near the end where you have low health. But sometimes I messed up near the middle and get stuck with low health for the rest of the game.

But anyway, definitely one of the most unique gameplay I've seen in this jam! :D

Thanks for noting the issues on other browsers, I'll definitely have to take a look. Regarding the control scheme, I actually aren't aware of a standard control for this kind of game? Could you maybe suggest the control scheme you would prefer? The main 3 games I modeled this after was Hollow Knight, Momodora, and Sekiro, which doesn't really have anything in common in terms of the controls so I just went with a mix of all 3.

Ah, I think I didn't make the purpose of the guard clear enough, since it's the main reason the combat is slow. I explained it in the description, but if you guard right before the attack, you'll perform a parry which damages the enemy and won't lose any gray bar. The window is very tight, but I modeled it after Sekiro so that once you learn the attack patterns, parrying will be almost broken since you'll be doing so much damage back. (I think I ended up making the same mistake as Sekiro by not making it clear how important parry is haha)

Anyway, thanks for the comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I definitely agree with the slow controls introduction haha, I wanted to use this jam as a chance to practice more 'diegetic' tutorials, but of course I ran out of time as always and had to cut the game shorter than my initial "small" scope so it definitely felt small.
Thanks for playing tho! I appreciate da comment <3

Sure, go ahead!

One thing I ask is that credits mention that the sprite are modified so that people know that the original sprites are not NSFW.

Thanks for the comment! And you're super right about the dialogues... since it was quite long we decide to have it go by quickly so that it wouldn't interrupt the gameplay, but it's so fast that many other players also had a hard time reading it. We'll definitely try to watch out for accessibility in future games!

Hmm... I still couldn't find the Download Button, as it seems like it's set as an online HTML game based on how its shown on the Jam page (usually the Jam page would link to the download directly). Maybe I'm just missing something, but could you double check where the button would be?

Very ambitious game for a jam!

Overall the the gameplay is fine,  but enemies might need a bit of balancing to feel right (i.e. the fast Spot enemies should probably have less health). With a bit of polishing this could definitely be a fun single player game!

Surprisingly fun game!

I was really impressed with how dynamic the camera was, really adds a lot of excitement to the gameplay.

Overall great game! The character animation was surprisingly smooth, and the sound design really helped built the atmosphere.

Hello! Your game looks very interesting, but I couldn't quite figure out how to play it. Is this an online HTML game or a download game?

Lovely game! From the screenshots I was expected some boring platforming assets, but the sketch-like hand drawn graphics looks very nice. I also really appreciate the double theme interpretation!

Although some levels were a bit hard to figure put (was stuck on one of the level because I keep messed up the platforming), the fact that each level actually built on previous mechanics was really cool.

Yup, for the art atleast! I made it along with my friend for the scream jam, so we might've focused a bit too much on the art and not the game design haha

The music and sounds are creative commons stuff I found around the web.

You can use it in commercial projects as long as you either give credits or donate :D
