what reasons are there for the scientific database score to go down?

I‘ve have had situations where i landed on a planet with rich resources yes the scientific db score jumped from 50% to 39% for example.

Whereas in other similar situations it remained at 85%

Could someone explain the exact mechanism? Or is there a bug? Thanks

If you join a planet-spanning civilization with the dictator, there is a malus but your people will become part of the other culture anyway.

By the way, when people are killed after you failed to eject the dictator, it appears that it‘s never the dictator who gets killed by these events (dust particles, rough landings, earthquakes etc). Bug? Or is it done on purpose?

It could be a viable strategy to try to get rid of the dictator…

I don‘t know how much control you have over the page containing the iframe, with a little javascript you can pass on query parameters from the page to the iframe

The link works if you link to the page itself on itch.io instead of to the iframe.

There was a discussion about this game at HackerNews last month. See https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45142704

One interesting post: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45181812 by user haversine02:

I've always wished the planet descriptions weren't so dry, the RNG generates some pretty compelling combinations sometimes. So I spared an hour or so and vibecoded this quick tampermonkey extension for the game. It scrapes the page and assembles a prompt from planet stats for AI image generators. Try it out if you wanna give it a try, it supports both Gemini and OpenAI API, or you can just copy the prompt it generates and input it manually: https://pastebin.com/tGcJTBQw Example of what it does - https://imgur.com/uIpthQS

I'd say Gemini(Nano Banana) definitely generates more interesting stuff than gpt-image. It's output is less realistic and it messes up often, but it actually manages to synthesize some pretty neat novel environments.

When you finish the game you get a link to the final screen that you can share with other players.

However the link points to the wrong instance of the game.

I.e. i look at the scoreboard at

https://html-classic.itch.zone/html/12121226/index.html

and the link of a game i finished there still points to

https://www.johnayliff.com/games/seedship/index.html?mhCirajmrs.0-0.Arctica.1000...

For all those playing the game on itch.io, it's annoying that it's running in an iframe and when you scroll sometimes it scrolls the background.

So if you want the direct URL for the itch.io version it's at https://html-classic.itch.zone/html/12121226/index.html

I see! I‘ll switch to the itch.io version then.

There‘s one issue i noticed with the new version after briefly playing it:

If you establish a colony, click on the share link, navigate to the game page and then to play the game, it will show a game to be continued, despite it being finished, and you can resume the previous game as if you hadn’t established the colony.

i landed on a planet and had the cultural database at 100% yet the text says the opposite.

I managed a score of 0 but the game did not finish!

😭

Can i use 45 seconds of this for my company's answering machine tune after purchase?

the sheep don't have an outline on MacOS

edit: it worked on the fourth try

I'm stuck in the puzzle where the lady with the burning head wants a few seconds of standstill. Can't get the sheep to sit/sleep. Weird.
