Wow, stunned by the production quality and originality. I could really listen to this on a daily basis!
Shame I can't vote since I didn't participate
Hey cool stuff!
It's weird to me that (almost) everything is playing the same rythm throughout the whole piece. It's a pretty original take but I think it would benefit from some counter rythm between the harmony and the lead. The ending is a bit of a tease on that because I felt like I'd hear the release I was waiting from the start :)
Some really interesting ideas here! I especially love the choice of instruments.
I think you could benefit from playing with rythms more, like on the space between each note as we usually mean, but also on the duration of each note so it well sound less choppy and add some variation.
In bossa rythms they usually use long notes then a short one (so as to cut it), or short then long, which would suit the guitar nice here. And for the vibes, it's a sustain instrument so you can use longer notes!
Interesting chords that work pretty well for the theme! A bit more variation would be nice, on the progression itself or just rythmically.
2:30 is a nice change in pace, but some variations could also happen earlier.
I also agree with the bass part. It could be in a lower range/louder. At 2:05 it's good.
Nice job overall!
Thank you!
I agree with you that this doesn't really catch the elevator vibe. I think more of it like the music playing in the lounge part of a fancy hotel (next to the elevator ;)), or something like that.
Upon listening again, I get what you mean by circus show, it's kinda true!
I actually try to focus more on the composing part rather than the mixing part, which is why I did it directly in Musescore and it may not sound like a 10B $ soundtrack :). And it's rather convenient to have the music sheet available I agree.
