I just received an email from itch Support saying:

"Our records show that your account may have downloaded malware from a page titled 'Game Name' "

If I understand correctly, at some point my account downloaded a game from itch that was later flagged as malware. Support asked me to scan my Mac and confirm that my system is clean before they remove the limitation on my account.

Of course, I scan my system from time to time anyway, and I checked it again now.

Honestly, this was a very unexpected reason for an account limitation. But if I understood everything correctly, it actually seems like a reasonable safety measure to protect users

The only thing I am still wondering about is what happens next. Will my account continue to be limited again whenever I make normal changes or updates to my own game page, or will it be removed from this risk list after Support reviews my confirmation?

I already replied to Support directly, but I wanted to ask if anyone has had a similar experience.

Yes, yelling at anyone is never the right thing to do! I've been in the same situation before, and I know that posting on the forum is the only way to get that unsafe build warning removed from the game's download page

Unfortunately, there isn't really anything else I can do. I'm not going to ask players to spam the staff, so I just post here from time to time and hope for the best...

I didn't mean to offend you or yell. I just try to bring attention to my situation once a month

I know how this system works, so I've been trying very hard not to touch my game page at all.

But today I opened the page just to check the game's stats and accidentally clicked SAVE without making any changes whatsoever.

And, of course, the game immediately disappeared from ranking/indexing and got marked as "potentially dangerous", which it definitely isn't.

I’m sorry for adding extra work for you. I honestly didn't mean to trigger anything.

I would be extremely grateful if you could help my game get back into indexing/ranking.

Hi,

I made changes to my game page on 2025.09.21 (2 months and 3 days ago), after which my game was sent for re-indexing and started showing the message "WARNING: This Page Has Been Quarantined" when trying to download it.

On 2025.10.10 (1 month and 14 days ago), I sent an email to support at support@itch.io asking for help and received the ticket number "Your request (315415)"

My page has been out of the index for more than 2 months now, and I'm sure the moderators have simply lost track of it

Please help me resolve this! Please! I don't know what else I can do!

Maybe I should delete the game and create a new page? (Players can't download it anyway, it gets flagged as unsafe when they try) 

Guess my game got buried somewhere in the admin basement 😂

I promised myself I'd never mess with the page again after what happened every time I changed something, but the spam in the comments made me do it.

Should've just kept deleting it three times a day, honestly  🤷

Maybe I need to change something in my gameplay?
But will I get any email notification in response to my ticket 315415, or is everything fine and the moderators are just really busy, so I just need to keep waiting?

It's been 11 days since I submitted my request, and I still haven't received any response.
I've had issues with losing indexation after making changes to a page several times before, and it was usually resolved pretty quickly.
I hope the admins will find some time to look into it this time as well.

From your review, I got the impression that the game has no redeeming qualities and requires a complete overhaul rather than improvements:) Your comments, like "lacks depth and purpose", "poorly written dialogue" and "cast feel flat and unconvincing" feel very broad and don't give me a clear idea of specific points to address. I must admit, I didn't enjoy Baldur's Gate 3 at all, and I could easily write a review similar to yours about it, it just wasn't for m:)

That said, I really appreciate your feedback and the time you spent on my work! I hope you’ll find the time and interest to revisit the game at some point in the future. I'm confident I'll be able to make it even better!!!
