If Itch is selling something illegal, then I agree with you that it should certainly be removed from the platform. However, "because it is illegal" and "because I think it's not right" are completely different issues. Rules should be judged based on the law, not according to the preferences or standpoint of certain individuals or groups

I'm not a game developer myself, so I don't know the exact details, but as far as I understand, Itch takes 10% annually if creators leave their revenue in their Itch account without requesting a payout.

In other words, creators are made to earn money for Itch, and Itch refuses to pay out the funds based on "payment processor policies," taking 10% of the frozen funds each year. After 10 years, 100% of the funds end up belonging to Itch.
Itch needs to find alternative payment processing methods so that creators can receive their earnings.
Otherwise, it’s no different from exploiting creators to generate penalty money for Itch.

It's shocking that Collective Shout's threatening email takes precedence over consumer protection laws. I can't understand how a game can be deleted from users' libraries without any prior notice, even after they’ve already purchased it. And Itch will likely shift all responsibility for customer complaints onto the creators, while they themselves run off with the frozen funds of those creators. Truly smart of them. It makes me sick.

I do not blame Itch for pursuing a no-NSFW policy. However, no matter how harsh the pressure from the payment processor was, Itch should have given creators enough time to explain the upcoming changes and how those changes would affect their projects and their customers. Itch unilaterally removed games that buyers had purchased from their libraries without any prior notice, seriously violating their rights — and even shifted all the responsibility and cleanup onto the creators.  This action clearly deserves blame.

Even if Itch had provided at least a one-week “evacuation period” through prior notice, Collective Shout would not have destroyed Itch. Deleting content in the middle of the night without any warning — That is truly cowardly and unjust behavior.
