Thank you for playing! Yes, that was the goal!

(1 edit)

Okay but the jam host isnt "Player First Games"

its "First Player Studios"

this jam is a scam.

Thank you! I had plans to refine it all and make it a bit more smooth to play, but yea this was so rushed lol. Just wanted to make something silly. Thanks!

Yea, it was going to be much better with more content. Understand it was a bit confusing and i wasnt able to implement any UI or menus, which isnt like me. I just didnt have the time. All the controls are on the game page though, hopefully people are actually reading it :D

thanks for playing

Thank you, there was plans to do all sorts of other physics things like breaking items, throwing stuff, using kitchen knives etc, crafting weapons, but all these plans couldn't be done in time :(

Maybe after the jam.

Thanks for playing!

All controls are written in the game page. Please do read it! But thanks for feedback, as I say, I had very little time to work on it and had to cut so much, including menus and control layout UI.

Thanks for playing!

Yea, it's buggy as hell. I was going to add blocking, and it needs a lot of fine tuning and a delay from when an ememy can hit you can. Currently I think they hit you like a bunch of times in 1 frame so I missed a trick on that.

Didn't have time though, thanks for playing! :D

I don't know what's common or not but considering anyone can make a jam, you just need to be on the look out for anything fishy, even in big jams people make alt accounts and all sorts. Honestly this one is clearly just some random person who want to try publish a game, they can't even make a decent logo. I would avoid this and do one of the actual good looking jams with cash prizes etc

(1 edit)

Do you have a source? I just don't see why this jam and the prize on offer would be worth it when they don't even seem to care to build a professional page or any links to socials etc

I see one game published on steam, if thats even the same people, and their game has 1 player. My first steam game got more than that with little to no marketing, just me sharing it myself.

they don't even have decent logos or a decent picture for this jam. This is looking quite dodgy. You don't need them to publish your game. You'd do better yourself.

Well done to everyone, this was a great jam, shame it had to come to a judge vote but it feels right now! Great work from everyone!

Checking the jam hosts page, no links, no socials, seemingly little to no following. How exactly does that mean they are a good choice of publisher? It sounds to me like a sneaky way to take a cut from others work.

Be careful is all.

Visually pleasing! But I found the gameplay quite buggy, although maybe it was part of the tricks lol. Nice work

Good entry! tricks were pretty good, funny ending

Super wacky game lol

it would mostly likely be the grass rendering! What helps is only rendering grass the player camera sees. Any other grass shouldn't be rendering at all and I assume you used GPU instancing? That would be the main cause of lag.

hahaha, yea i totally forgot about that shortcut when I made crouch Ctrl. You can just make sure you are pressing W first then ctrl, or use arrow keys.

I'll just say... April fools ;)

Managed to get past the 2nd part, had to pause and jump when getting to the end of the hall to get above the ground.

I think optimization of this would REALLY help. My GPU is a bit outdated to be fair, but without any graphics settings to change, it's unplayable once I get to the mushroom/grass section, so thats as far as I got. I have a GeForce GTX 970, so it's most likely due to that, but I can play a lot of other games with similar more demanding graphics, and its still a solid GPU, so I think optimization is a bit lacking.

It's a big shame because I so want to play this, it felt great, really well polished, could definitley be relesed already. You should release a video playthrough! I've rated what I can based on what I could play.

I can't seem to get past the 2nd part, I think I'm getting spawned under the map? So far the visuals look great, I really want to fix this so I can rate it because I think this would be my highest rated game!

Decent platformer, could do with some sounds and polished up art but well done.

Decent concept, cool music

Pretty decent entry! The art was nice, and it felt fairly satisfying to do damage. I felt a bit unsure what to do at first, and once time stuff started happening it felt like I was just idle and stuff was happening in a loop for a while. But otherwise, good entry!

I like that you just drew your own art, always a charming way to go about making any style. Nice story, quite simple but it meets the themes. Having some sound would have been better, but overall nice job!

Thank you! I'm glad you enjyoed it!

Thanks for playing!

haha, hope you enjoyed!

Got me there i guess 😂

Was it the "system TIME couldn't sync" error? Yea that's the April fools man, press OK and keep playing haha

IF the tab closed, its maybe becaue you pressed Ctrl+W to close tab. That's my fault, I was silly and made Ctrl crouch as well. Use arrow keys to move or, press W before Ctrl to move forward while crouching

I see, it wasn't obvious I could do any of that!

Fun idea, but I ended up waiting for way too long for the next day. Wasn't sure where the trickery theme was.

The art and UI looks well polished and sleek. I like it! But the gameplay is really a bit lacking. There's potential for sure!

This was a great submission! And if this is really your first game ever, really well done.  I don't know if I really beleive it's your first ever game, or just the first one you've uploaded to a game jam? Did you use any free assets? Extra credit for having custom music. Is there a page for the musician? I don't really know how the "trickery" theme was being met though, as it's a puzzle game, a puzzle isn't really a "trick". But otherwise, it's really good!

Is there no yellow crystal then? lol

The art is great, assuming it's all custom? I didn't feel too tricked or maybe I missed the trick, but otherwise, nice little game!

Yea, thats fair! Its defo a cool concept and game, well polished. I guess u could argue it fits with the themes if you justify it somehow ;)

(1 edit)

REALLY appriciate that man, yea grabbing objects had to be janky or it objects would just go through walls haha. Didnt have time to refine it. I did actually rate yours! It was very funny! I enjoyed it

Ah ok, I was trying to figure out how it fits the game jam themes, I do like it as a game though! but wish I had more interaction with where to dig

True, but also WebGL is a great platform in terms of ease of use, so it's still worth learning!

This has a good look to it, and it's clearly well polished in terms of UI, animations, sounds, etc. But I really don't get it. Do i literally just idle and let the dwarf dig down randomly? Am I able to make any choice of direction? Is that the "trickery" aspect? Just a bit more detail before I leave a rating would be good! :)

hahaha, fair play cappy, fair play.
