thanks man! Yea it was ambitious for a jam, still didn't even use the full 9 days but its something! Even made some title music haha. Had fun making something differen, when I read the prompt it just came to me.

Thanks! Yea, it's the nature of jams really. It's hard to test as the developer as I know how to play without breaking it lol. It's been really condensed for the jam, I planned a few more levels of puzzles and more mechanics like controlling bullets etc. However, there was no time. I'm not sure If i'll reallly bother to re-visit this as I've got other projects i'm focusing on. But it's a fun idea, unsure if the mechanic is just annoying or not!

Thanks, yea the camera angle changes I did just with trigger colliders. It was probably not the best way but it was quicker for me. So if you walk through the trigger a few times while rotating it may cause some camera angle issues. And yea, the manhole part is I guess a bit tricky but it's certainly doable! Try the windows build and just work the manhole cover into the hole as best you can. She will walk over it fine! It's just the nature of a game jam game really!

Thanks so much! Honestly I just don't have the time in my life to put as much time into a game jam even with 9 days. Still lots of commitments that take up time. I'm not sure I will bother with this game after the jam tbh, i may put an updated build that fixes a couple things but otherwise It may just stay as is. Not sure yet, It would need a lot of people actually wanting it for me to put more in. But thank you! I appriciate the words.

thank you! Yea, it's a bit tricky with the current janky game jam controls, but if you use the windows build it is possible to get through! Just check the playthrough video if you just want to see it all :)

Ah I see what you mean. Yes, so the reason that may happen is there's "on ground" detection on the girl character. It's got a slight delay on it so if there's a gap under her for too long she is "falling". For now to prevent her falling forever in that case, she will die if falling too long. Of course this can not always be the case, and in a full released version would be much more tuned. However for now, just working the manhole cover into the hole with as small gaps around it as possible will allow her to walk over it. Please do remember it's a 9 day game jam, and i only used a few hours in 7 of the days, thanks for playing! I hope the rest of the game was interesting enough for you

Download the windows build. I promise you it works better, web builds from unity for some reason can be very different to other builds.

Yea, for some reason controlling the movement of objects is way harder in the web build than in the Windows build. It makes no sense but this is an issue i've noticied in Unity, web builds can be drastically different with physics controls.

Thanks! That was the hopes with making things coloured for importance! glad it seems to have worked

Thank you! Yes this is one thing I said in the discord, I bit off more than I could chew and didn't get to do more than 1 actual puzzles level, and all my ideas and plans for the story got essentially skipped. But ah well, thats the nature of it!

Yea, multiple times. I be going crazy slapping.

Thank you! Yea, the UI was a bit rushed, I was probably better off just doing screen space dialogue at the bottom of the screen rather than in the world space above their heads. But I wanted to try something a bit different.

Thank you! I wish I had time for more puzzle levels.

I've not rated this yet because the game simply does not load in browser for me. I'm guessing there's a lot of particle effects etc, it's fully slowing down my browser. My graphics card is fairly old so it may be on my end but I can't load the game at all.

Yea this one's great, so simple, this could basically be a complete game/mobile app. Could be a winner, great puzzle idea.

Well made! the only thing that kept getting me for a bit was I thought I had to line up the note with the smaller box below with the key bind in it.

I looked at the wall. Still slapped everyone. Then slapped them again when they were down.

This was fun! it felt a bit intense right off the bat with little understanding, maybe a slower build up with fewer enemies and some breaks between waves would be good. But I couldn't really figure out where the babies where being snatched haha, otherwise quite fun!

Thank you! There's so much I want to fix and tweak to make better, with all the aspects you mentioned! working with physics isn't always easy.  If i had time I had SO many ideas where to take the mechanic, e.g. a mugging scenario where they have a gun, and you control the bullets!

Well made game for a game jam! If there was attack animations it would feel a lot more satisfying! but still, well done

I like this! It reminds me of small internet games on newgrounds that still have a nice aesthetic! Pretty good use of theme too!

Ahh, I actually see now I have the maps. I didn't see each fragment before, I saw "you dont have this treasure yet" and thought it was the map I didnt have!
I tried again, and it makes much more sense! very nice.

It looks like a lot has gone into this in the space of the game jam! well fleshed out, it's quite a tricky platformer too! Only thing is, the music got annoying after a while haha, sorry but the percussion notes are just way too loud and repeat too often, so combining that with frustration of missing jumps made me lose attention quicker. Otherwise, nice

My favourite game so far! Definitely one of the most fleshed out!

Really nice style! I love that you did some hand drawn art, and it works well with the game. The only thing is, I have no idea what to do. I can use the tools in terms of their controls, but to actually find anything, I have no idea how to find anything or how to use the tools to figure it out, get clues, etc. Maybe a little more instruction even in the game page would help!

yep that's intended, you're a ghost and she can't see you. Follow the colour red. Try walking through the door next to the counter in the cafe.

The bar? as in the cafe? the camera should follow you around at set points, setting an angle you can see. try walking around or back where you came and you should hit a point the camera moves. if it's after you go in the red door, just walk forward

Thank you for playing! Yes, that was the goal!

Okay but the jam host isnt "Player First Games"

its "First Player Studios"

this jam is a scam.

Thank you! I had plans to refine it all and make it a bit more smooth to play, but yea this was so rushed lol. Just wanted to make something silly. Thanks!

Yea, it was going to be much better with more content. Understand it was a bit confusing and i wasnt able to implement any UI or menus, which isnt like me. I just didnt have the time. All the controls are on the game page though, hopefully people are actually reading it :D

thanks for playing

Thank you, there was plans to do all sorts of other physics things like breaking items, throwing stuff, using kitchen knives etc, crafting weapons, but all these plans couldn't be done in time :(

Maybe after the jam.

Thanks for playing!

All controls are written in the game page. Please do read it! But thanks for feedback, as I say, I had very little time to work on it and had to cut so much, including menus and control layout UI.

Thanks for playing!

Yea, it's buggy as hell. I was going to add blocking, and it needs a lot of fine tuning and a delay from when an ememy can hit you can. Currently I think they hit you like a bunch of times in 1 frame so I missed a trick on that.

Didn't have time though, thanks for playing! :D

I don't know what's common or not but considering anyone can make a jam, you just need to be on the look out for anything fishy, even in big jams people make alt accounts and all sorts. Honestly this one is clearly just some random person who want to try publish a game, they can't even make a decent logo. I would avoid this and do one of the actual good looking jams with cash prizes etc

(1 edit)

Do you have a source? I just don't see why this jam and the prize on offer would be worth it when they don't even seem to care to build a professional page or any links to socials etc

I see one game published on steam, if thats even the same people, and their game has 1 player. My first steam game got more than that with little to no marketing, just me sharing it myself.

they don't even have decent logos or a decent picture for this jam. This is looking quite dodgy. You don't need them to publish your game. You'd do better yourself.

Well done to everyone, this was a great jam, shame it had to come to a judge vote but it feels right now! Great work from everyone!

Checking the jam hosts page, no links, no socials, seemingly little to no following. How exactly does that mean they are a good choice of publisher? It sounds to me like a sneaky way to take a cut from others work.

Be careful is all.

Visually pleasing! But I found the gameplay quite buggy, although maybe it was part of the tricks lol. Nice work
