Thanks for the review, nice to hear back from you again! I've heard quite a bit of feedback about the melee attack recently, so it's something I want to look into relatively soon. For the music I switched to Bandlab fairly early in development because of its larger variety of instruments. I also played your new GC game recently but can't remember if I commented on it, nice to see the community coming back together to some extent.

Been a while since I played and I don't think my progress got saved but I remember trying it for a while and not being able to get where I needed to be

Fun concept and feels really good to play! Can be pretty difficult (right now I'm at the lilypads level) but I keep wanting to try again. I like it!

At one point I thought I needed one of these moveable blocks to get to the area in the top right corner, but when trying to get it down I realized I couldn't pull it through platforms which resulted in it blocking what is as far as I can tell the only way to get up there. Whoopsie...

Fun sussy game ඞ, I think it could've benefitted from invincibility frames though. It's easy to get hit multiple times by the same enemy without being able to get away and get killed from it. Other than that I enjoyed it!

Really fun concept, enjoyed it quite a bit! I don't know if this is just me but I did feel like the hammer swings were way too hard to time lol

Nice game! Like the atmosphere and level design. Got 8/8 spirits in 22:33.

Cute game, it's of course simple due to Pico-8's limitations but it's still fun to place rides down and watch them. I think it would be nice if there were also more ways to customize the scenery by being able to place down trees and decorations, or even being able to terraform the landscape by adding water or replacing the grass with sand etc. Already enjoyed it as it is though, keep up the good work!

Finally got around to beating this game! Without repeating what I said at the demo too much, this is a really fun game and very well done for a first year student project. Some mechanics especially relating to the combat could do with a bit more visual cues (it took me I don't know how many tries to figure out how dodging during the boss worked), but overall this game has a lot of cool ideas, a great looking artstyle and that Efteling charm that I would expect from it. Very well done.

But y'all swapped the blue and red track colors from the real Joris en de Draak, so 0/10. Jk.

Good level design, I like

Simple but fun metroidvania! I got a score of 1740 in the end.

I love how well this works with the limitations of Pico-8 but still resembles the original game very closely. Great job!

Thanks for your feedback! I definitely agree about the vertical camera movement, the demo level is designed around it but the camera still needs more fine-tuning for sure. Other than that, glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks! I think you have a good point there, it feels like there should be a bit more variety as you get further down, but I suppose there's only so much you can do in 48 hours. If I decide to build onto this that's definitely something I want to look into!

Thanks! You got a pretty good score, unfortunate that it started lagging. In the rush of actually getting this game finished within 48 hours I didn't have a lot of time for optimization, which I know starts taking its toll the further you get especially on older devices.

Nice way of combining strategy with RNG!

Thanks, I did this one on my own! I'll take a look at your entry as well

Thanks! One of the main gimmicks of the game is actually that your high score only gets recorded when you use the ladder, but I did a rather poor job actually communicating that in-game. The lack of audio is something I totally agree on, it was originally planned but got scrapped due to time constraints.

I like this concept! I do feel like the randomness can sometimes lead to unfair deaths, but it definitely fits the theme and also makes the game more chaotic.

I like this one! Got 14 points, thought it was easy until the level got flipped upside down haha

Really lives up to its name, for better or worse

Weird, for me it doesn't seem to happen. Sadly I can't fix it now anymore anyways. For the high score system keep in mind that only climbing the ladder will save your score and dying won't, it's a risk vs reward decision where you need to "roll the dice" ;P

Huh, really? Does it happen when you go outside the screen on the first jump or is it something else?

I like this one! Really satisfying to play!

A demo level has just been released for Platform Jumper, a 2D pixel-platformer about using your axe as a platform to cross large gaps and climb walls!
