The "shortcut" just removes the luck requirement from the Hidden Glade. The hidden glade is an encounter in the mystic woods that normally requires 30 luck to be interesting.

They're all good if the benefits fit your play style, and bad if you'll never use the benefits. All of the drawbacks can be (nearly) overcome by just investing points in Max Arousal or Willpower, so think of it as sacrificing a few levels for a unique perk.
I think the worst one is Succubus Sex Toy, because its benefit, being better at penetrative sex, is directly countered by its drawback, losing faster to penetrative sex. That said, it can also be overcome indirectly by just investing more points in Max Arousal.
You can bypass almost every one of these checks in some way, so there's very few builds that are just locked out of content. The hellhound requires something like 30 power, but ignores your power if you're level 50 or above.
The only one I know of that can't be bypassed is 6 allure, technique, and power in order to learn the demon layer holy skill.
This is intentional. You have to battle her at a higher difficulty than last time to receive a reward. Once you complete all her battles you don't get any more rewards.
Future higher difficulties are planned, presumably until you get all of her rewards, but for now there are only three? maybe four? I can't remember.
That's not right, you can get both of them without donating to the church. It's locked behind increasing your relationship with Lillian, which can be done by using all of her dialogue options, buying her holy water repeatedly, or just progressing the game.
I think the second (actually good) one is locked behind raising stats too, but not very far.
It's honestly not even just the quantity of text, but how that text is stored. There's no single master file with all the text in it, but a ton of different events stored seperately, each containing their own writing. Adding translation options would be great but it'd be a large coding task in addition to all the normal work that goes into making a translation.
