I hope this helps someone. I tend to "overthink" and "overcomplicate" things and this system is brilliant in its simplicity. It's only using a handful of variables with conditionals.

When I went to make a similar system, I had like 20 variables involved for three characters. This is especially wonderful if you are like me. ^,.^

Sorry for the repeat comment, but I am actually using this version and not the lite version and I felt awkward about deleting it, so...

This is amazing! Thank you for your hard work. I am combining it with a CSV for dialogue. A neat little trick I found in a discounted plugin. ^,.^

I've been learning that on this site, if you happen to sneeze while typing, you will be restricted. >.>

Shoot me an email at itch@jems.quest - I will reply with my real email and send you a forum link. ^,.^

Oh yay! I will try not to watch the clock for the next 4 days. ^,.^

I can't get discord to work on my deck (main PC after desktop died). Are you okay with email or forums?
There are also a lot of obscure instant messengers on here, if they work for me.

Literally just setup the project, picked a protag art asset, tested a single scene and installed a few plugins. Didn't even finish making the map. Not a single line of dialogue, etc.

...and did a few hours of foundational work on this a couple weeks ago. I haven't touched it since. Only thought about the world and such while working on something else. Is that okay?
Can I still submit the game?

I was having some account issues. (kinda new) My post was actually submitted a week ago. I went ahead and just made a silly little game for this on my own in the interim. Any interest in working on a slightly longer project?

I actually started on a project for the Penthouse Horror Jam. Going for psychological horror, no jump scares, etc.

I really liked Always Dusk Somewhere. Listening to it now, actually. Are you still looking to work with anyone? I already started working on a silly little game set in a sort of fantasy version of the forums.

Thank you!

This one is hitting close to home. I have a multi-year plan to make it to Japan to attempt to sell my stories and art.  That is easier than trying to make it in the US without connections or selling your soul.

Done. ^,.^

Please let me know if that is better.

It reads that a password is required to view the game. :(

Oh wow! This looks amazing! I think your thumbnail might be underselling it. I will buy this as soon as I can come up with money.

Basing an entire little game around these. Amazing work!

(I have also been learning how to make my own thanks to them.)

I greatly appreciate your effort in this! These battlers will be used with love. They look amazing.

Not suggesting abandoning itch entirely, but maybe using newgrounds and others as alternatives is a good idea. They don't seem to have these issues. I really love all the jams on here, but if no one can see the game then what's the point? Can't become a better developer without feedback.

I found a list of alternative game hosting sites that I have bookmarked, including newgrounds.

I absolutely use a VPN myself. That's basic internet hygiene in the US. Especially for survivors.
Maybe that is the reason for my restrictions. I don't have them anywhere else despite using a VPN everywhere.

Hi Smurjo,

That sounds pretty frustrating. I've seen far worse than that on here. It doesn't seem like your game triggered anything. I didn't even realise it at first and figured my games must just be too new to show up, but then they never did. And then the commenting restriction.

I haven't been told anything. I've not dealt with such a lack of customer service since I went looking for Netflix support years ago. I've sent multiple e-mails, have multiple support ticket numbers. At this point, I've started looking into itch alternatives and held back on supporting the bundles I wanted to support.

I've only personally had similar issues elsewhere when automated systems flagged me as suspicious for "unusual activity" which is me being autistic and disabled. Inconsistent usage schedule, etc. I am trying to assume the best here.

Hi,I don't know what I have done to deserve this. I haven't ever been able to find my games or pages in search, and now I'm restricted? I barely post the past two weeks or so. I was posting frequently before then and wasn't restricted. Then I make like one or two posts after taking a medical break and I'm restricted.

I was feeling overwhelmed by the task of trying to clear up space and scrape the forums. This gives me something specific to focus on. Much less stress! ^,.^

Anyone want to collaborate on a game about all the Gotcha Gotcha DLC?
I did some (dirty) maths on how much it would cost to buy it all...

I was spacey while first playing this, left the train, talked to the guy, left town and then had a game over. 10/10

Thank you for playing and commenting! I will work on more "sign posting" so players don't feel as lost.

I have an idea, a website, and a handful of quite useful plugins. I excel at mapping and writing, but I can do passable pixel art and music with time. Coding requires caffeine. Lots of caffeine.

I am also willing to adapt my idea, or toss it in a blender with yours. It is currently attached to a larger setting, but that can also change.

(I mentioned the website because discord doesn’t work on my system)

itch@jems.quest ^,.^

Between the lack of privacy with AI, the constant payment spamming and their systems enabling of "PDFs" across many US states over years? No... I think the latter was the final line crossed for me.

Also it's fixed.

Thank you! I just learned the trick to make plugin resources automatically be included. >.<

I don't have discord anymore. :(

Are you willing to use anything else?

There is also the option of Matrix and Element. Literally just discovered them, but they look interesting. I don't have a VPS or I would setup chat on my website. I could setup forums though...

Mastodon, bluesky, email, SimpleX, etc. I also setup forums for the game I am making. Well I enabled them, but I could properly set them up.

I don't have discord anymore. If you see this, do you have any interest in some light work with another writer?

Are you still looking?

That new version is out. The game strongly guides you towards the kitchen early on in the day to meet the Food Witch. She has a real name you can discover. Fishing, farming, hunting, cards, NPC activities and NPC emotions are all setup. Their explicit moods are not yet setup though.

Staff will start to ask for pay after a week and I will expand upon the management features, but they will be limited at first since the protagonist did not plan to be a host.

I can make things a bit more on rails, but the NPC emotions, NPC activities, and such are almost finished being setup (in their early states) and I am hopeful that will make up for the lack of quest markers. The next version I release will have a lot more non-routine NPCs as well more world appropriate minigames. (NPCs will die if you don't provide food resources)
Though this is still an early alpha for my first game, so please keep that in mind.

I guess, why be precious about it. There are actually several hints towards possible mysteries involving the house and main guests in the cover image for the game. ( ˶ •́ ω •̀ ˶ )

Kekekekekekeke.... I have a lot of plans. Lots of systems already setup in testing phases (only available if you find the dev mode switches). There are a couple mysteries already hinted at if you interact with enough objects in the house. ^,.^

The one thing I didn't think to interact with was the bed.. of course. >.<

(I don't sleep in a bed)
Thank you.
