UUUUOOOOOGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

THIS IS STRAIGHT UP MY TOP 1 FAVORITE SUBMISSION IN THIS JAM AND IM NOT EVEN KIDDING NOR GLAZING (if we don't include shrimp rap that is)

I literally have nothing else to say. I just love it so much, everything about it.

Spongebob Ascending Meme Music | TikTok

Edit: One small tidbit is that the story is a bit too corny for me (I just read it lol), but who tf cares, right? As long as the music is bangin' then we vibin'

I don't want to be presumptuous, but it seems like you're new to music composing, yeah? (Please, do correct me if I'm wrong!) I gotta say your composition is VERY ambitious and I deeply appreciate that. I think you really have the talent in music arrangement because your sense and choice of notes for the melody is VERY good (to my ears at least), and I don't say that quite often.

I'm going to give one teeny tiny criticism, but as a preface: this is purely subjective and you may or may not agree with what I'm going to say. If you do believe in your sense and vision, please keep believing that!

One small feedback that I will give you is: know and understand when to stop. I'm going to take "vs Loneliness" as an example here. This melancholic composition reminds me a lot to Omori's final boss theme "Omori" (you may check that out, but if you're interested in playing the game there might be a mega spoiler lurking around so just a heads up for you lmao), which took reference from "Hana" by Asa-chang & Junray. Now, why do I make the comparison? If you listen to the references I just sent you, you should immediately be able to feel the weight of the song despite it's simplicity. They're only repeating the same chord progression over and over yet they work and they work really well. Going back to your song and the story, I really like the early part of the song, but somewhere around the middle, the melody wanders around a bit aimlessly and that's the part where I felt the weight was lost.

I understand that it's easier said than done because "understanding when to stop" is something that one will learn through experience and I really do hope you've learned a lot from this jam!

PLEASE NEVER STOP LEARNING AND MAKING MUSIC!!!!!!!

It's nice, sweet, and simple. At first, I kinda wanna crush the snail under my feet, but upon listening to the songs, I have changed my mind. Now I wanna crush the snail under my guitar. "fishes dont have fingers so they want me to play the guitar to save their kingdom" is my fave, I really dig the melody :3

I love the visual animation as well, it's actually crazy with how you were able to pull all of these off in less than two weeks. Props for that!

Also, this is peak cinema btw:

"You snailed it!" - the wise snail spirit
"Ugh." - the girl

There's this one PS1 fishing game that I forgor the title which I used to play a lot back when I was still a snotty brat. And I remembered there was this level where the "boss" was this gargantuan dinosaur ancient fish and me as a child was scared as hell when I looked at it. That was the moment where I dropped the game because I was horrified beyond repair, and even when I came back playing the game again, I would NEVER touch that specific level. This OST somehow reminds me of that core memory of mine, so deeply thank you for that.

jk gang its peak

HOLEE WACAMOLEE, this is hands-down the best submission with "less is more" approach! This is my personal take, but I normally dislike when people make complex things because they want to flex their skills instead of being actually honest with what they want to express and this submission is the exact opposite of that which I deeply appreciate!

Lastly, I just want to drop this one quote that I always keep in my mind whenever I make art:
“Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

bro ngl it gives me a huge metal gear rising vibes and it goes HARD!!!!!! (something is rising but it aint the metal gear)

GGRRRUUUUHHHHHHHHH ANOTHER SUBMISSION THAT MAKES ME JEALOUS!!!!

It goes without saying that I'm sure the creator is a mega experienced music producer. The mix feels 100% intentional and no matter which output devices I use, it still sounds beautiful. I don't think I'm capable of providing any valuable criticisms here. Did NOT expect the vocaloid in the final song, but since I'm a loser vocaloid fan, I definitely APPROVE!

I have been playing Cross Code recently and the moment I heard your OST it immediately reminded me of the vibe of the game, so in the regard of sounding good for a video game you've done a really great job! I think it really captures the vibe of playing a modern game with retro-style aesthetics!

Now on to the more technical parts. The composition itself is already great, I don't think I'm unable to give any valuable inputs for that, however I may have a few criticisms regarding the mixing. That said,  please note that this is NOT objective, rather just a "how I would do it, if it was me".

I really like the groove of the overall OST especially since that's your main goal this time around, I think the composition itself is fantastic. Now, one thing that I would do to really improve the sound is by adding a bit more groove compression to the mix bus. I'm unsure whether you've already had that in place or not, but regardless I would try to be a bit bolder with it!

Another thing is the way how some instruments don't feel like they belong in the same "space" as the other instruments. Take for instance the Sax in Baile en la Playa and Sunstolen Espionage (really love the way you compose the Sax there btw), while by itself they already sound pretty nice, if it was me I would try to make it blend a bit more with the rest of the instruments, perhaps with glue compression, or maybe add a bit more reverb, or dynamic EQ, or simply re-adjusting the levelling (point is that there are multiple ways of achieving that).

Again, those are subjective and please do take my criticisms with a grain of salt because I myself is still learning as well. If you believe in your sense and style more than my yappings, then please keep believing that and just ignore everything I've said! Overall though, I think it's a really great submission and you definitely materialized your vision well through your song!

uuhhh ummmm... excuse me sir/ma'am, m-may i uhhh... eat your music p-p-pweasee?? idk why but when i listen to your sound design it makes me wanna eat them like candy yum yum yummers

It seems like you're relatively new to music composing, yeah? Genuinely, I think you might have a certain talent that many don't have and that's quite apparent in the sound choices. You have both the bravery to pick outlandish sounds and the sense to make them work. I'm not going to glaze like this is the craziest submission ever, but at the same time I'm not going to ignore the huge potential that you have. Please please PLEASE never stop making music!!

Okay first of all 9 tracks with 21 minutes duration is CRAZY! You must've worked really hard for this and it definitely paid off!! All of them are very well-produced and don't feel rushed in terms of mixing quality. The sound design in some parts like in Please Don't Touch The Electronics is just uuooooggghhhhhh! The reverse thingy in A Really Big Shadow is also a really nice touch. NOT TO MENTION THE GRANULAR NOISES MY BELOVED IN THE BENTHIC HOUR!!!!

WHY THE FUCK IS EVERYONE TRYING TO MAKE ME JEALOUS IN THIS JAM WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS???

(1 edit)

I'M SO JEALOUS OF THIS SUBMISSION I HATE IT SO MUCH (I LOVE IT)!!!! It sounds mega professional, you can tell the creator has years of experience of making music, if not then it's definitely a talented one. Everything sounds so CLEAN it's actually insane. Things are well-put together without trying too hard. If someone tells me this is from an actual game, I'd definitely believe them.

ANOTHER UNDERRATED SUBMISSION!! You have no idea how good your composition actually is. In my head, the notes are hitting the right g-spots. It's quite experimental actually, yet it works! I'm learning a thing or two from this!

STARWEAVER is so good!! I actually bopped my head while listening to it, I didn't expect it to go so hard immediately right in the beginning. Kind of reminds me of the energy of "World's End Valentine" from OMORI with how high-octane it is throughout. Overall, great submission! I love how the beat sounds in all of the songs.

okay first of all, as a sound design nerd, i appreciate the experimental uses of electronic sounds! im actually learning a thing or two by listening to your music :0

now for the music itself, its ambient which ive to be honest a genre that i dont listen to a lot. however, it does feel seamless when i listen to music while i just go about doing stuffs on the side so i think that's pretty cool! i also love the way you connect the tail of each songs to the next one, its a good touch id say myself. unfortunately, bandcamp is kinda ass for streaming so i wasnt able to enjoy the seamless experience as it was intended to be T.T

Nkumo Atoll SLAPS btw i love the buildup from the beginning to end! i love slow-burn songs like that

THIS SHIT IS SO UNDERRATED HOW TF PEOPLE NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS YET IM SO MAD GGGRRRRRRRR

me lovey the waltz in the beginning, im always a huge sucker for those. i normally love dark/minor songs, but for some reason the "major" songs in this album is that it gives me this feeling of... idk somewhat melancholic? which makes sense since you're taking references from OMORI and Undertale (which is BASED AF btw i love both of those games) and i love it! the minor one though on the other hand lacks the emotional "cut"(?) i like my dark music to make me wanna vomit all over the floor, but that's just me. ALL IN ALL ITS PRETTY GOOD :D

LOVE THE VOCALS!! Overall and especially the first song somewhat reminds me of Made in Abyss OST by Kevin Penkin if you've ever heard of it!

Me likey the overall VN-like vibes and I think you've managed to achieve that aspect! It feels like I'm playing an old-school VN, almost like a retro feel like the other comments have said.

One criticism though, which admittedly is very subjective and heavily based on preference, is I think the mix feels a bit too washed out, could be because of the reverb and overall instruments levelling. Based on the story context, it's supposed to be an intimate and emotional story which usually needs an element of intimacy and nearness. To create those feelings, in my personal opinion I think it's better to focus on just a few instruments and let them really shine. Take for instance in "Come With Me", the drums, pad, and piano to me all feel like they're trying to overtake each other therefore it feels a bit "washed out", I think it would be much better if say you pick the piano as the main focus and really play with the melody to maximize the emotional impact.

A trick to make instruments feel "closer" to your ears is by playing around with its transient. Generally louder transient will make a sound feel closer and vice versa. Although this method works better with instruments with little-to-no sustain and fast attack, like plucks or drums/percs.

However again, it's all subjective matter and really dependent on the vision itself. If the core feeling that you want to achieve is an ephemeral feeling instead of nearness, then never mind what I've just said because I think this "washed out" type of mix would work really well!

fortuna is scrumptious me lovey classical-like composition <3

feels like im driving and vibing to the radio along the coastline road :0

Thank you! Wouldn't have been possible without all of the bugs!

Thank you for the kind words!

Thanks!

Glad no issues happened on your end. Thank you for playing!

We have fixed some of the bugs and uploaded an updated build! Check out our devlog to see the details :)

Really great story overall, keep it up!

I read the title at first and I was like "what the heck?? that's such a wack title" (in a good way). I opened the page, saw the art style and it immediately piqued my interest. Immediately it had this feeling of "looks wacky, but it seems to hide something", similar to when I see the backgrounds by SHAFT (the studio behind Monogatari series if you guys know it).

So I played it. The first time the MC met Saturn, I already got the gist of where the story was going and what's the twist gonna be. Granted, it's a common trope these days (not going to spoil in case someone wants to play it), but making this kind of story within the span of 2 weeks is already pretty impressive! Even though I did know what's going to happen, I really liked how you handled the reveal. All those "monologues" and the music really fit the moment.

Overall, I enjoyed it! I have a really short attention span, but this game managed to keep me in the zone and trust me when I say that rarely happens. Truly well done!
