Sorry to hear about that.

I didn't receive any notification or money from your purchase(s), so I don't think the purchase( was completed.

What you're experiencing sounds very similar to what was described in this thread:

https://itch.io/t/2550378/itchio-charged-me-but-didnt-send-game

Please have a look in that thread. According to leafo (itch.io admin), there might be a temporary charge taken from you even when purchases are not completed. But the amount should be returned to you within the next day.

Like it's mentioned on that thread, you can also contact customer support for more informations.

I hope everything gets fixed soon!

Yes, it is. The game is tagged with the ai-generated tag and it's mentioned in the first blog post. If you find any hand with extra fingers, please let me know!

"My confusion was that I thought once a card was played it was removed from the players deck permanently. (Did I miss it? Was there an explanation in the tutorial that at the end of the level the cards are returned to the player deck for the next round?). "

That's a good point, I should explain that better in the tutorial. I'll add a line or two about it.

"Does the Genius & Alpha card take all the points from the rival cards immediately? That's a major buff when there are 3 rival cards in play - maybe make it a slower drain?"

Yes, they do take it immediately upon entering the field. All effects that happen at the start of the turn are like that. Maybe I should change that so that all start of the turn effects don't happen in the turn a new rival enters the field and only in the next turn. That actually might make the game more fair because it gives the player time to prepare.

I'll also change the Genius/Alpha effects so that they only take points from 1 other rival card per turn and not from 2. This will not make a huge difference, but it's another way to give the player a little more time to react in certain situations.

"Now that I understand the rules better, there seem to only be a few unwinnable scenarios in later levels."

The goal is to make it as skill based as possible. There will always be some RNG, but the goal is that a good player than understands the mechanics can beat later levels consistently with different strategies, but a less skilled player will lose earlier more often. I think you're already seeing that there are less unwinnable scenarios than you first thought (and they might be even less than that, because you might have made bad plays those times you lost, meaning it was actually possible to win).

My job as game dev is to try to reduce those  unwinnable scenarios as much as possible, so that your choices as a player really matter to win or lose!

Thanks again for the feedback, suggestions.

Thanks for the feedback! To answer your points:

1 - "I've just upgraded to 0.1.1 and lost all the previous rewards. "

That's strange, you should always keep your progress from update to update. Are you using PC or Android version? On PC it should work automatically. If it didn't, and if you still have the back up Save folder, do this:

1 - where you download the update, inside the "Game" folder, delete the "Saves" folder.

2 - On windows explorer, type:

%APPDATA%/RenPy/deckedinlove-1646232969

on the address bar: you should go to the other folder that has your saves. This folder should have a sync folder, a ".save" file and a "persistent" file. Delete them all.

3 - copy your backed up "Saves" folder to the same place place where you deleted the "Saves" folder in step 1.

4 - Start the game;

On android, you need to: 1) download new apk file, 2) click on it, 3) select "Update".  As far as I can tell, that keeps the old progress. Do NOT uninstall the old version first, that will make you lose all the progress!

If you want to make sure your progress is saved before updating on Android:

1. connect your phone to your PC and go to: Android\data\com.mrsilverlust.deckedinlove\files

2. Backup the folder named "Saves"

3. Update the app

4. After updating, go again to: Android\data\com.mrsilverlust.deckedinlove\file and past the backed up "Saves" folder there

5. Play the game with your old saves

2 - "Have the choice from more than 3 items would allow greater freedom to build a specific type of deck, but it might make the game boring once you'd worked out a winning strategy. "

I agree. The compromise I found is that you can spend EX to reroll and the items and get a new chance to pick a new one. The EX cost will increase the more you use it, though. And you can't use it later on. I think having to balance these options makes the game more interesting for the player than just giving them more options while picking items.

3 - "Playing on android its sometimes hard to do a long press and read the popup."

Yeah, I did my best to make it as user friendly as possible on android, but it's a bit hard. I'll see if I can improve it a bit with your suggestions. The hard part is that the game engine wasn't really built for Android, it may not be as straight forward to implement your suggestions. But I'll investigate if it's possible/easy to do that.

4 - "It would be useful if there was a way to see the love calculation and all the different affects being applied. Once you get to the higher levels there can be quite a lot of things going on. "

While I agree with this, I'm not sure how to implement it. The game interface is already quite full, I wouldn't want to clutter it with more info. I'll think about if I can find an elegant way to improve this aspect.

Thank you for all the suggestions and comments, it's really appreciated!

At the end of any level, there's a chance of getting an option to remove any card from your deck, at the expense of EXP. Those cards will be permanently removed from your deck for future levels.

I think that discard mechanic would be too complicated. I think it's simpler as is right now: you just use it and spend the charisma. If you don't want it in your deck for good, you need to take the opportunity to remove it using one of the EXP stores at the end of the levels,

Yeah, right now, a discard card option wouldn't provide much value. But, in future updates, I want to add ways to take more value of discarded cards. Right now, there is a card that takes 2 love * the number of cards in your discard pile from any enemy. If you have 5 cards discarded, that's 10 damage for the cost of 2 charisma, which is quite good. You can imagine more cards/clothes like that. Also, new enemy effects that will be more powerful if you have more cards in the discard pile!

Thanks for the feedback!

1. I've lowered the stats of the wingman guy at the level 2 in the latest balancing update, I think it should be easier to deal with now with all the tools you can have at your disposal by then (damaging cards, boosting your active stat cards, having higher stats to eliminate it in one attack, silencing its effect);

2. Very good point. In the next update, I'll make it impossible for any level to start with 3 Rival cards.

3. I'm not sure if I understand this one. You mean swapping cards from hand with cards from your deck at any time? Being abale to swap any card would be OP, because you'd basically have access to any card in your deck at any time. I don't think any card game does that.

At some point, I thought about giving the option to the player to at least be allowed to discard any useless card from their hand, so they'd at least have a way to free some space for other cards that might be better for the situation. But I ruled out against it. The reason for that was that I want to add more cards in the future with effects/synergies with cards in your discard pile. There are already some effects like that and I want to add more. Giving the option to the player to discard as many cards as they want for free, would make that archetype super easy to achieve. For it to be balance and work properly, there should be a price to use and send cards to the discard pile.

So, I don't think I'll change anything here, for now. If you meant something else on point 3, I'm sorry, I might have misunderstood it.

(1 edit)

Roguelikes don't necessarily need to be like that- In fact, that's a "modern" twist on the genre that's more commonly called roguelite. But still, as you play this game you get access to more fantasy cards and the change of getting those also increases, so it does get easier with more runs, like you think it should be.

I will also push back on the sheer luck. I can get to level 6 around 90% of the time and can certainly get past the first round 100% of the time. You need to try different things if you can't do it! And that just shows you that there is more skill than meets the eye.

Nevertheless, the new update nerfed a few enemies to make it a bit easier.

You needs to click in the little X marker on the top right of optional cards like shops or gifts to discard them

Not at all right now. I don't know if I'll add any in the future.

I'm not a native speaker. The chapters are usually proofread/edited by a friend, but this takes a lot of time - we can't forget that, in number of words, this game is already bigger than the "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" and "The Return of the King" put together.

So, I thought it was better to release this chapter as is now, and edit it in the next months instead of delaying it even more. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good and all that. But it'll get proofread, sooner or later. The previous chapters have also been released more or less like this.

That being said, it's funny that you picked an example that it's correct. Prophylactic moves are a thing in chess. Every professional commentator talks about prophylactic moves all the time. It's the correct term used in the field.

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the bug report. You can tell me about them anywhere: here in the comments or in the discord server if you have a discord account.

The summary goal is about Emma, right?  That will be fix in a patch coming in a couple of days. Or is there something else I'm not aware of?

(1 edit)

Yes, the listed price includes all future updates. You just pay once.

I just let patrons "beta-test" an update first to check for bugs, but once everything is fixed (it usually takes 2 days) the update goes live on itch and anyone that already bought the game has access to it.

The next update will be released next month!

Funny you ask about steam because the page was set online just now :D

Just that one, sorry about that :p

Sorry, there won't be any sissification in the game.

The game is still in early access and is released in chapters. So, no path is completed. Right now, the story stops at the end of chapter 5. It's the same for all paths.

The development of each chapter takes around 4 months. There will be more scenes once chapter 6 is released.

(1 edit)

You need to be on Kim's manly path. For that:

In the conversation with Kim at the café in chapter three, you have to pick the option:

- You have nothing to worry about, just leave me out of it (cunning)

And do have a total amount of manly points superior than sensitive points.

Then, at the end of the scene, pick:

- What's in it for me? (cunning)

And then:

- Deal (cunning)

You will then be on Kim's manly path and be able to get the handjob scene in chapter 4 (and more in chapter 5). Check the profile menu to see in which path you are.

I hope that's clear enough.

Yes, you just pay one time.

Sorry for the confusion. This is an old post from April with an old version of the game. That version has since been updated and is not available anymore, making this post outdated.

Right now, the free version is available at:

https://mrsilverlust.itch.io/nothing-is-forever

If you scroll down, you'll get the option to download the free demo, which is version 0.3.3 and has everything until the end of chapter 3. Basically, it's the next update after the one mentioned in this post.

Good point, for whatever reason I didn’t think about including them in the credits, but I agree that it’d be nice to do it in future updates.

In  the meantime, I did write an open post about all the chess games featured so far in "Nothing is Forever", if you want to have a look.

Yeah, I agree with that. Unfortunately, I didn't develop her as much as I should have until now and she feels a bit hollow in comparison with the other Lis.

But she'll have more screen time and more meaningful interactions with the MC in the future. I hope that helps make up for that.

Not yet, but there will be in future chapters.

Yes, it'll be released on Steam. I'm not yet sure when though, but I probably don't want to release it there in yearly access, just the full game. But nothing is set in stone for now.

Once it's there, I'm planning to give anyone that bought the game here on itch a steam key so they can get everything in one library if they so which. I think that's common practice and should be relatively easy to setup.

Thanks for the kind words. Cheers!

Yes, you missed something. On the top left corner, there's a menu called 'Skills'. You need to open it and buy the skills you want with the points you have got from your choices.

Only after you buy the skills you can unlock the lewd scenes. Each lewd scene will require different skills.

Just a quick note: there isn't or will ever be anything forceful in this game. All sex scenes are fully consensual. Even if both people, like in that scene with Emma, are having sex while angry with each other.

"If you pick one is the other one off the table for life? Does the game assume you never want that other one?"

It depends. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The trouble is, some future scenes only make sense if the previous one happened. So, with each kink choice the player may be directed to a given path. Although, I also try to not make this a hard rule so that rejecting a kink you don't like doesn't necessarily exclude you from a girl's path.

This can be tricky sometimes because if a scene (for example Deb's feet scene on chapter 3) is rejected, now I have to write the following scene in chapter 4 differently to take into account whether the scene on chapter 3 happened or not. As you can imagine this can get very complicated quickly.

That being said, I agree that rejecting Deb's feet scene on chapter 3 shouldn't lock you out of her path. That was an oversight on my side, sorry about that. I'll rewrite some scenes a bit differently to allow her lewd scene on chapter 4 to still happen, even if reject her lewd scene on chapter 3. The next patch I make will have this fix. thanks for pointing it out.

As for Emma's kinks, yes each girl has her own kinks and some might be less vanilla than others. I'm aware that, the less vanilla the girls are, the less some players might like them. But I'm okay with that. The goal is that each girl feels like a different  person with their own needs and kinks. As long as each player finds at least one girl they like, it's okay if they don't like them all.

This is just a lewd game where I want to pass the message that it is okay to like whatever weird kink we might have. And if one’s kink is romance, cuddles and happy sex, without any “wild” thing added there, that’s absolutely okay. In fact, the majority of people are into that, and also don’t like all the other more kinky stuff.

Some girls are just at different stage in their relationship with the MC. It’s just difficult to give them all the same screen time and attention, while still progressing the main story forward.

So, yes, Bri’s first scene only happens at chapter 4, but she (or all the other girls the page banner) will be fully romanceable. I know it’s a bit annoying when our favorite characters don’t get the screen time we’d like to, but, sooner or later, all of them will have their time in the spotlight.

Each character has several songs that are used in their scenes. And yes, that one is one of Jen's theme songs.

(1 edit)

There's just one scene where three friends smoke weed.

All of those options are on the table and will be further explored in chapter 4, which will be released on itch in a few days (it was released yesterday on Patreon).

I don't want to spoil anything, but there will be different outcomes dependent on your choices on chapter4. The only thing I'll say is that you don't need to be dominant with Jen to have a relationship with her.

You don't need to touch your saves files. But, if you want to know where they are saved, check this info

As for the game files are located where you download them. Just try do delete that folder and make the download again from this page.

You can even just download the game again from this page and try to start it from the freshly downloaded folder that shouldn't have any corrupted files.

I’m not sure if that will work. But that’s a functionality handled by the game engine, that’s why I think something in the files must have gotten broken somehow. Especially because it worked well previously for you, and now you can’t even start a new game.

PS: Another issue could be the “rollback side” option. Go to the options screen and check if you have that turned on. When it’s on, if you click at the very right, or left side of the screen (depending on which side is selected), the game will rollback. But not if you click at the center of the screen or use the space bar. I don’t think this is the issue, but you can quickly check that.

Hmm... sounds like something is broken or corrupted in the game files. Try download it again. Renpy saves are located elsewhere in your drive, so you’ll still have them if you make a new download.

Did you get the “sweetness” skill just a bit earlier, as a bonus for having chosen Lea as your crush?

There is a bug that makes it so the “sweetness” skill acquired that way does not “work” in a very small percentage of saves. I already have a fix that should make it work 100% of the time, that will be in next update (just making sure I didn’t screw up anything else).

For now, can you please load a slightly older save, and get the “sweetness” skill the normal way ? You just have to buy the "sweetness" skill from the Menu like all the others, before you pick the same choice that would give it for free (but pick that choice anyway, it's important for the story and it'll give you your 20 pts back)

That should solve the problem. Sorry for the inconvenient.

(If you don’t have an older save: in the Load Menu, you can look in the “A” tab where the autsaves are.  Since those two choices are close together, you may have one auto save there that suits you. You can also load one autosave that’s closer to that choice and try to rollback to it)

PS: I’m assuming the problem is that you got the "sweetness" skill for free because you have chosen Lea as your crush. If you haven’t, please let me know, because that would mean it’s an entirely new bug unknown to me. Thanks.

Is it possible that you're playing an older version of the game that you have downloaded previously? In the main menu, which version number does it show? 0.2.3?

You need to download the version 0.3.2 (which contains chapter 3), unzip, and open the nif.exe file inside of that folder.

Don't use any older folder/executable for previous versions. Also, check the main menu to confirm that you are indeed playing the version 0.3.2.

Your save files will carry over to the new version.

Let me know if the problem is something else and which version you are playing. Thanks.

(1 edit)

Can you please tell me the platform you're using (PC, mac, linux, android)? And please check if you didn't download the wrong version, or if the download finish properly and it wasn't corrupted.

Also, if you are on PC, can you check if you have a 32 or 64 architecture software? The pc version is not compatible with 32 bit.

The android version might not work if your phone has too little space or memory available.

Other than this, I'd need more details from you to try to help. I believe it's not a problem with the game because no one else is reporting that problem.

Sorry for the troubles.

(1 edit)

I know... unfortunately that silly mistake wasn’t caught by the spellcheck.

I have an english native speaker friend that helps me proofread the scripts in his free time, but he hasn’t yet finish the last chapter’s script, which is quite big.

So, this chapter might have more mistakes than the previous 2, like that “limp” one. Once he finishes it. I´ll post a small hotfix that corrects everything and also improves the readablility of many sentences and makes them feel more natural. He really does an awesome job on that.

Thanks for the notice, and I’m sorry for the inconvenience. I'm glad you're loving the story though :)

Thank you for the kind words.

At the latest, chapter 3 will be available for free when chapter 4 is released. But I might even make it free a bit before that.

When that happens I'll make a devlog post. So, anyone following the game should be immediately notified. Cheers.

Good to know!

Usually it’s the Linux people that teach me how things work. I’m glad that this time was not an exception  :p

Okay, this is a first.

I don’t have a linux OS to have tested this before, but the Renpy engine automatically builds distributions that should work on Linux.

Inside the folder you downloaded you’ll see a file named nif.sh. Try to double click it and see if it runs. If not…

You need to mark the nif.sh file as executable.

(Note: if you don’t know how to do it: This may be slightly different depending on your Linux distribution, desktop environment and language. Right-click the file, select Properties -> Permissions -> mark as executable)

Then go to the "lib" directory and open the adequate Linux directory (linux-i686 or linux-x86_64) and look for a file named nif (without any extention).  Mark this file as executable too.

(Note: If you don't know which Linux directory is right for you, do the same thing for the nif file inside both of the directories)

Try double clicking again in the nif.sh file.

Did it work?

If not, try to run in through the terminal. I have found here a 10 min  youtube tutorial explaining how to do it with another renpy game (it also shows and explains all of the steps above). Just try to do the same steps for this game that has a nif.sh executable.

I hope this helped.

If you still can’t make it to work, I’m afraid I can’t help more than this. Sorry.
