We do this for fun so we like leaving the games as is. All the faults and problems are comedy fuel to look back on the time we spent on it, like a photograph of the journey.

Although! I think we should probably incorporate some accessibility features on our future endeavors, since in this one you rely on sound to know when the sniper shot, but a warning would make the game easier, which was not our goal. Game balancing is a complex art, and since this was a speedrun themed game jam, we erred on the side of trial and error rather than a more "player friendly" approach.

45 minutes, wow! You played it more than us. Regarding the problems:

- You need to watch out for the laser. There's a cooldown if the sniper hits you, but not if they miss. If they get their sights on you, they shoot. But outrunning the laser is too easy, so it also locks onto you every 15 seconds automatically. Basically, every 15 seconds, hide, then just outrun the laser, which is pretty slow. For the time we had, I think we got the tension and pace about as good as we could, but obviously it can be way better.

Went back and made a good effort, but I got stuck (get it?) at this part and that was the breaking point for me. I think it's really good, but really hard, damn!

(1 edit)

The tutorial is good, but the first level starts you off on that very difficult bounce, so you're replaying that section a lot and it got frustrating. Also, I think it's impossible to reach the "bounce" platform without gaining momentum. There were multiple times where I didn't get enough and died a centimeter away from it. EDIT: Looking back, I got too much momentum and shot past the platform before, that was the timing issue, but it wasn't that bad.

After getting into a rhythm it's easy to get to, but then I have to let go off spacebar and left key, otherwise I feel like it doesn't register down X, but the timing is too demanding for me to get it right. Without momentum, I found it impossible to make the bounce. A few times I made the bounce, but I fumbled the controls or didn't get into the orbit electricity, so on and so forth. Probably spent 5-10 minutes on that bounce yesterday.

I'm just bad at it. A speedrunner, though, could probably make easy work of it!

Dude! Killer looks but that first bounce is just way too tight. Could only get past it once, then I died immediately after.

Looks good though and I like the jump momentum gain, maybe if there were easier jumps before that one to warm the player up?

Well, a speedrunner would figure it out, wouldn't they? ;)

The restart is an error I forgot to fix: You need to have a checkpoint to return to, otherwise it sends you to the center of the map. Luckily, there is one right in front of the player, you just have to punch the X boxes. We didn't have time to playtest it much. Sorry!

Thank you! We aimed for the stars, ran out of fuel and burned on re-entry, like a modern Icarus. We also wanted to add a joke timer, a working elevator, a semi decent narrative, etc. Alas... such are the ways of the game jam!

We used the most recent version of Unreal, and several assets that epic gives for free each month. I don't really understand your concerns, but I guess it's healthy to be paranoid. It's a really shit game anyway, so luckily you didn't miss out on anything!

I too am here
