Oh my gosh! Not weird at all, that's a great idea!! π€© Reading through it, it definitely matches the vibes and could lead to some very fun interplay. You could also blend solo play between the games by yourself, or swap and remix with others' playthroughs!
Thank you for the recommendation. ππ Perhaps I should start listing others' projects that could work well together with all my games... hmmm...

I'm so thankful for this folding format... It's simultaneously more simplistically elegant in construction compared to Pocketmod, AND full of potential for panel-lifting expansion! I'll definitely be making several games that use this format — the first of which is RAMPANT, a biopunk game where weird experimental creatures mutate to escape their hostile lab-prison. Cheers!!
Thank you for doing this! ππ

Final Check-In:
WOW. The last few weeks have been JAM-PACKED for me!!! I got hit with the massive project of helping my dad clear out both his shed and his grandpa's workshop, which I've been committing to every day I have to spare. Not only that, but I worked to give my abode a major overhaul for a visiting friend, which resulted in me more or less gutting and rearranging the whole darn place.
And now that those missions are done (for now), so is this jam! Well, almost: we've still got a few more days... So maybe, just maybe, I can squeeze in a little spring cleaning on my digital home here at itch.io π€
I'm a big fan of this approach — so much so that I made a whole game around it. Love the lens ideas you pitch here!
Weekly Check-In:
I've begun my cleaning journey by helping at my parents' house, where we went through the lazy susan to clear out old food and effectively stash new food, then dug through old toys in the basement. Meanwhile, I've begun tackling my towers of dirty dishes at my own place, as well as swapping out seasonal bedding for less layers of wintery warmth. I think I'll need to do some general vacuuming and junk-clearing to make way for the expansive laundry-hanging in my future...
Weekly Check-In:
I haven't done a whole lot of actual physical cleaning lately... but as the weather gets nicer and I'll be able to leave my windows open, I'm thinking about some of the stinkier projects I can tackle, like the dreaded stove scrubbing. [shudder] I also think I need a better way to sort and store my laundry, because my current method (various themed heaps on the floor) isn't really cutting it...
Are you taking this time to tackle a project that doesn't really lend itself to a uploadable document? Give it life here! This space is for anyone to talk about their spring cleaning projects that are more ephemeral: redesigning your game pages, optimizing your workflow, actually cleaning your physical home, or anything else that exists beyond the usual realm of game jam submissions!
I super appreciate this!! The official Dropout version is very fun, but several of the rules require picking them out from the play examples. It's very helpful to have everything explicitly stated, especially right on the sheet that players will be using most! The die tracks are also a useful addition. And that's not even getting into all your tips, tricks, and tools for making a thrilling and satisfying story together! Really good stuff.
Keep blowing up! π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯
Hi! This jam is a cool opportunity to dive deeper into the Polymorph system, and I'm excited! However, I have some concerns I'd like clarification on, just to make sure I'm not infringing on anything...
Looking at the Free License you provide here on your website, I don't see anywhere how to state that a game has been "built with Polymorph." I know other systems often have such a clause, within the game itself and/or its description text, but couldn't find one here. Is there a template you'd like us to follow for that? Do you even require it, outside including the "Built with Polymorph" image?
On a related note, where should we obtain that image? There's a version of it in the license PDF, but I don't see a place to download a high-quality transparent version of it. (The link above has a larger image combined with your logo... except there it says "powered by," not "built with"!) Could you include the required logo with the license and/or here on the jam page?
Finally, the license asks us to email contact@9thlevel.com if we make a Polymorph game... but I'm assuming that, as you folks will see all the submissions here, that step would be redundant? π (I know it's already optional, but I don't want to pester you if such an email will merely make you see double!)
Thanks, and hopefully these questions aren't too nitpicky! Looking forward to building with Polymorph πΊπ§π·π
I am so glad that this resonated with you! π Yes, it can be quite hard to break the habit of telling ourselves what we've so often heard, especially when thrown at us with such force... But I too have been learning how to replace those voices with ones that truly bring value to my life, instead of simply declaring it.
Though this road has many rough patches, always know that you are far from the only one to travel it. Hopefully with enough footprints, we'll wear it flat for future travelers together. π
Aaaaaagh, work and COVID have made my life too crazy this last month... I'm so upset that I just barely missed this, seeing as superhero stuff is my favorite!! π«π Is there any chance I might be able to squeeze in a late entry? I've heard such a thing is apparently possible in certain situations, but I don't know if this fits...
Here's a link to the game I'd like to submit: https://lxnrhinners.itch.io/bedo-hero
It's okay if this is just a missed opportunity, but I'd love to get in on this if I still can! I'd love to be in company with all the other gorgeous submissions. π Thanks!
This is awesome!! I've found some very cool characters in here. π
One thing I'm noticing is that (at least for Chrome on desktop), some things become "stuck" and not randomize when clicking the "randomize" button. After some experimentation, it seems it's mostly favorite music genre and color. (However, "modifiers" to the color will still appear — e.g. it will stay stuck on purple, but change from "purple" to "dusty purple" to "pastel purple", etc.) If I refresh the page in the browser instead of using the button, it will change whatever's stuck to a new outcome... but then clicking the Randomize button goes back to once again keeping it stuck. But then again, maybe this is a feature to ensure all your generated buddies coordinate in fashion and playlist preference! π
Another thing which may just be a feature I'm "abusing": in my many test clicks of the Randomize button, it seems that the 14 different items in the "Signature look" slot eventually "run out," eventually replacing each one with "(No more items in the consumable 'signaturelook' list)" as the signature look aspect. But again, this is only a problem if you're creating like, 7 or more characters in a row. This is another quirk that's bypassed by refreshing the whole page rather than using the button.
Hopefully these observations are useful rather than nitpicky... Thanks for making this, it's quite the fun tool! π±βπ€
And thank YOU for writing this lovely review!! β₯ I'm glad the royal themes came through π The idea of meta bullets fascinates me (as I'm sure it would for Rathayibacter as well): bullets that lets you swap out your character sheet, bullets that let you rewrite an uncomfortable scene, bullets that burst into instances of other games... Feather Bullet is also really cool!
Thanks so much for your feedback! As it stands, the idea is that set-aside cards would just shuffled to form a new deck once the original deck runs out. Many games do this, but I failed to specify when and how; I'll make sure to do that!
It's funny that you suggest having cards retain meanings, because that's actually one of the main new mechanics I have planned for the revamp I'm working on! Great minds think alike I suppose π Every time a face card appears, the group will create an NPC to assign to it tied to its suit, who either is present in the scene or whose actions have directly caused the situation they're in. Then whenever that same card comes up again, it means that character has returned. I'm glad to hear that such a concept readily suggests itself, as it'll make it that much easier for new players to learn and use!
