Yes! In my first game jam I have never made a game with Unity and ended up making a game in 48h straight (with about 4h of sleep per day). If you manage well those 48h I think you can learn while making the game and end up with something quite nice! And even if you use the 48h and still didn't can't finish the game, try to finish it and instead of sending in the jam (because the rules etc) just send to friends and know game devs to give you feedback about it.

Hope you manage to give a entry in the jam and learn a lot and have fun doing so ^^

(1 edit)

Many game jams you can't separete time for personal needs from game dev, so if you consider Ludum Dare that have 48h, if you subtract 8h of sleep for each day and 3h for others needs you get around 26h (or only 10h if you have a 8h work in the days of the jams) in total for making the game. In 9 days would be almost 3h/day.

But anyway, hope you have enough time to make your game, even if you end up not using the full 48h ^^

In my first game jam I learned to use Unity as I was making the game and it turns out "okay" (no polish at all but all the mechanics worked without noticeable bugs). This event will be my first time using Godot, I already read and watched a bunch of stuff about it but never made a game, so I will be learning in the event ^^ Considering that food and sleep time will not count in the 48h probably would be ok (and seems fair to me) to count in the learning time after the event begins

Looking foward for a Game Jam to use Godot since the Ludum Dare 46 but with the quarentine and all the controversy in my country I was feeling too mentally exhausted for doing any of that. I hope this game jam become a turn in my situation ^^

Anyway, about the topic: I'm using Godot as game engine, Krita for graphics, Audacity for sound effects, OBS Studio for screen record and probably one or two more tools, all in my old notebook with Manjaro on it. ILooking foward for Web and Linux build so I can try your games without Wine c:

How about you? Whats tools and OS are you using in this jam?
