You're right about the flicker, the compiler has a screen lock command that I have used, but I forgot to include here.  But I'll definitely consider screen pages for the next time.

For the begining of this jam I did not receive any notification remainding the jam had started. I remember reading a notification in the past jam about the deadline being close, but I cannot find that email, probably I am confusing some forum posts or in-site notifications with a email notification.
