Amazing, many thanks! I've often thought about working on Arcangel too, the isometric PC game which used many of the Hilt II levels directly, but it is ancient and low-res, 2D only, and would be hugely hard work. Meanwhile, enjoy Hilt II.

It's probably an error in the briefing text. If you can only choose four then it should say four units, not five.

Interesting! My game was from 1994, perhaps the name was just a coincidence.

Hmm, not sure. Try A500 emulation? I can't remember which Amiga it was written for...

As far as I remember, Blade requires hard drive installation, so open up Workbench and use the ADFs to virtually install the game. I hope that's an option (only 3 disks are actually needed, disk 1 is a stand-alone intro sequence).

(1 edit)

No, my 1983 programming was on a Dragon 32. I programmed my Amiga games in assembler, and my PC games in C++.

Wow, well done! I've never heard of anyone completing the game. As far as I remember, the goal is to find the magical sword, but I don't recall any end of game sequence, so consider your mission complete.

I expect that you remember more about the game than I do. You might like to check out Hilt on here too, the game Blade was based on, which is pretty similar.

Brilliant. Send me a link when its up and I'll share it around.

I'd like the option to show net earnings (gross minus payment processing fees minus itch cut - and ideally even minus PayPal's fees) rather than (or as well as) gross, to give a more realistic clue to how much money we have actually earned.

I can't remember, but if I recall, it will play on OCS Amigas with extra memory and will have some limited graphics (eg. the heroes will look the same). On AGA Amigas, the graphics are enhanced and the scrolling is faster. I think it requires a hard drive.

Thank you so much. The game brings up some painful memories for me, but I put a lot of work into it and there were some good things in it.

Today I've released Blade, my last, and biggest, Amiga game from 1997. Blade is a isometric adaptation of the dungeon crawling game Hilt. Like my PC game Flatspace, the game had a very 'open world' sensibility and this probably fed into Flatspace's ideas of using roguelike elements in an action game.

The idea here is to enter the dungeon in turns, obtain gold, upgrade weapons, find treasure. Note that you can right click on squares to 'look' at them, which is sometimes useful in this isometric world. Blade was published in an incomplete form without my consent. As such, some planned parts of the game were never completed when I released the game for free.

My first major PC game was Arcangel, an isometric adaptation of Hilt II.

Blade requires hard drive installation on an Amiga. I've supplied the game as the original ADF files, and an RP9 file with a pre-installed version on a virtual hard drive for use in Amiga Forever.

Enjoy playing.

Hi All,

Today I've released Rage, my 11th Amiga game and one of my best action games. From 1991 to 1997 I wrote 20 Amiga games and 2 utilities and I've decided to release them all on my itch channel with as much information as possible.

Rage was a certain step-up in technical terms from the previous PD games and my first serious attempt at a commercial game after about 2 years of developing different game styles. The game was inspired by many sources; Gauntlet, Alien Breed, Rotox, and had elements from my former game Arazmax in the way the enemies multiplied.

The aim is to traverse many scrolling levels to reach the exit. There are transporters and enemies of different sorts. Hold fire to launch a grenade, which can be useful for dealing with enemies or blasting through certain obstacles.

I've supplied the game in the original ADF file, and an RP9 file for new and fancy emulators like Amiga Forever.

Hi All,

From 1991 to 1997 I wrote 20 Amiga games and I've decided to re-release them all on my itch channel with as much information as possible.

Today I've released Outliner, my 18th Amiga game and one of my best. This was originally released in February 1996.

Outliner is a wireframe shooter for one or two players with a variety of game styles (including co-op and battle). The game was the ultimate evolution of a series of action/shooting games that started with Roton (1992), then Xenex (1994), which use an Asteroids-style rotation control, where the mouse is used to rotate and aim your ship. The sound effects were created and sampled from a Yamaha SY-85 synthesizer which was top technology for the day.

I remade the game for PC in 2002 (this is in need of a remaster and relaunch so it's not available at the moment - hopefully I'll have time/incentive to work on it in future years).

I've supplied the game in the original ADF file, and an RP9 file for new and fancy emulators like Amiga Forever.

Hi All,

I've released one of my classic (1992) Amiga games today. Arazmax is an action/puzzle game. You must clear each level of enemies to advance while avoiding taking damage. It was/is one of my best Amiga games, certainly the best of the early PD releases. More thought-based than the action-based Microbes which inspired the enemies, and reasonably well polished.

I'll be releasing all of my Amiga game for free/donation on my channel. I've supplied the game in the original ADF file, and an RP9 file for new and fancy emulators like Amiga Forever.

Hi All,

From 1991 to 1997 I wrote 20 Amiga games and 2 utilities (one is lost forever - bah). I've decided to release them all on my itch channel with as much information as possible.

Today I've released Taskforce, my 10th Amiga game and a popular CU Amiga coverdisc back in 1994. I wrote it in 1993.

This was inspired by the turn-based wargames that my brother and I used to play as children. It uses a move/fire phase for turns rather than the 'action points' system of later games; those were implemented due to a suggestion by Andrew Cashmore for Hilt II. My game Hilt II was an evolution on from this, and my first PC game Arcangel which was (effectively) an isometric version of Hilt II. I made a fancy 3D conversion of Taskforce for PC, originally release in 2004, which was substantially reworked and released on Steam in the summer of 2020.

Like most of early Amiga games, this is a simple game that is rough around the edges, but it has some good points.

I've supplied the game in the original ADF file, and an RP9 file for new and fancy emulators like Amiga Forever.

Hi All,

I don't know if there are any retro game or emulation fans here, but my game Hilt II for Amiga went live today. My other game, Hilt, is also up on my channel. This was one of my most popular games back in the 90s, and is supplied here in both ADF (Amiga disk format) and RP9 for the new and fancy RetroPlatform emulators like Amiga Forever.

I had trouble finding some software from the year 2000 last week and I realised how fragile these old games are, so I've decided to list all of my 20 Amiga games here with good documentation and even some review snippets. Hope someone will enjoy it.

More of my Amiga games will be coming soon.
