The streak system won't be changing all that much, as I think some people will like the competitive element, especially once a leaderboard is added.

I just think the game would be better overall if the main focus was on the combat itself, so it appeals to people that just want to have a good time and who aren't necessarily bothered about scores.

This is going off the other comments I got on here, as the scoring system apparently missed the mark with some people. Although one person basically said they knew how the game should be played, but played it wrong anyway, so I'm not really sure what to make of that. 😂

Thank you so much.

I'm glad you took the time to notice that the colour order got gradually harder.

I'm going to keep working on it and change and add a lot of things, but this was more of a proof of concept kind of thing, keeping the scope down so I could have some sort of playable game finished in time.

I'll be addressing the colour swap controls to switch to next or previous. I also want to add multiple levels, bosses, etc.

I'm thinking I might focus more on the combat, with the streak system probably moving to more of a background feature.

Appreciate the feedback and the follow.

Really good idea, enjoyable, and different to everything else in this jam. The art and music is really nice, and the pace of the game is good.

If a floating item is over an item in the grid, when you click it usually grabs the grid item, which could be a little frustrating, as in my opinion the floating item should take priority. Also it needs a win condition when you fill all the space, rather than having to wait for the timer to run out. Not trying to be nitpicky, just trying to be helpful :).

Great job. Well done.

A good game. It has a good amount of different enemies, it looks nice, and sounds pretty good. The missiles should maybe be more powerful but have a very limited use, I just found it easier to use the lasers the entire time. Overall great job.

Thank you for playing, and for your feedback.

I wanted to add more, including a variety of enemies and attacks, plus many other ideas, but unfortunately this is all I could get done with the time I had.

I'm going to continue working on the game, so I'll hopefully be able to add everything I wanted to and more over time, including better level structure, multiple levels and boss fights.

Feel free to follow me if you're interested to see how things go with this project, and to see other projects I work on.

Sometimes less is more. I felt the graphics did what they needed to do. The key is that if it all looks basic, nothing looks out of place, so it works.

The main focus of the game is to get the highest score you can, rather than just surviving, which would have worked out better if I'd had time to add a leaderboard, but unfortunately I ran out of time.

I'm going to keep working on it, and try to add a proper structure with more enemy types, multiple levels and boss battles.

Thanks for your feedback, it's always valuable whether positive, negative, or a bit of both.

The graphics have a nice basic style to them, and the sound is good (extra credit for making your own music). Overall a fun little game, and the ongoing story element makes it more appealing to keep playing. Great work.

The grainy retro graphic style looks great. The sound is good, but I think adding sounds for the bugs would improve the atmosphere, although running away backwards while getting chased was still terrifying, lol. Great job. Well done.

I started enjoying this game after experimenting for a while, although I still only half know what to do, and I'm not sure how you loop around the tighter corners. The graphics and sound are good, and the short story section at the start is a nice addition. Great job.

A cool game idea. The monkey looks great, love his sour lemon face. The objects are easy to distinguish, although it gets frantic pretty fast and I just panic, lol. Nice work.

Cool little puzzle game. It's very minimalistic,  which works in its favour, and the graphics and sound are nice and neat. Good job.

A good all round game. Graphics look great, sound is good, and there is a decent variety of enemies. Great job. Well done.

It's simple, but everything works fine. The little rocket has an oddly nice style to it. Good effort.

Really good game. The graphic style looks great, and the sound effects fit well. Collecting the parts made it more interesting by adding a bit more variety to the gameplay. The controls are responsive enough, although it can be difficult to move then shoot efficiently. Great work. Well done.

A nice tribute to a loved pet and friend. I hope working on this has helped you in the grieving process. The various text formats and animations were a nice touch.

I really enjoyed this. The graphics are nice (I like the little jet stream behind the ship). The controls and movement feel really good. Great work. Well done.

A fun little game. The sound and visuals fit together really well. Great job.

A cool little game. The controls work well and the graphics are really nice. Maybe add something to make it more challenging. Overall, good job.

A nice and simple game, which I think is a good thing (I think sometimes it's easy to fall into the trap of making things too complicated). While the graphics are fairly basic, everything was clearly marked, so it was easy to understand what was going on. Most importantly, everything you have put into the game appears to be working correctly. Great job, well done.

It was a nice short story. I liked the retro look of the graphics, objectives were clearly marked out, and the key prompts were subtle. Great job.

Interesting concept with some nice ideas. The retro art style is cool. I think it would benefit from a little more guidance, and when picking items up with the mouse they get dropped constantly. Good job overall.

Fantastic game. Level design is especially great, and the art is really nice. The controls are very responsive (although personally I would prefer Spacebar for jump, because my brain just doesn't like Up as jump apparently, lol). You've done an amazing job. Well done.

Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. The music and sound effects are from a bought asset pack, but I think they fit the game pretty well.

Thank you. Glad you liked it.

Really great fun. The difficulty is a tad harsh in places, but causing a little frustration is obviously intentional to fit with the story. The mechanic is cool, the art is nice, and the dialogue is inspiring. Top stuff, well done.

Thank you. The switch mechanic was a pain and took up too much time, so unfortunately there is admittedly a lack of content. Glad you liked what was there though. I'll have a look at your game now. I always try to play every game from anyone who comments on mine.

Absolutely brilliant. From the art, sound and music, to the puzzles and dialogue, all amazing. Has to be a strong contender for winning this jam in my opinion. Fantastic work, well done.

I really like the theme, the motivational messages are great. The graphics are nice and suit the tone of the game really well, and there are a good variety of mini games. Well done.

I'm glad you liked it. To be honest, I just threw the last level together just to try and make the game slightly longer, just because I ran out of time. I also had sooo many problems with the switch mechanic that I'm just glad I got it working well enough to have a playable game. Thank you for the feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad you liked it 🙂

Nice and simple idea made into a solid, enjoyable game. Great work.

Nice concept, and it looks like it took a decent amount of effort to put it all together. I had the same issue of not understanding the mirrors section. Great job though. Well done.

Pretty solid all round. A nice amount of power ups and enemy variations. The only thing I would recommend changing is that the homing bullets don't change course so quickly, they are the only thing that seems unfair. Great job overall, well done.

Yeah, the concept was definitely better than the execution. Thanks for the feedback.

Nice idea. Timing the jumps was challenging (and a little stressful, lol). Well done.

Very nice, unique concept. The pixel art is really good. The platforming is very clever, but extremely difficult to control. Great job.

The mad puzzles at the start were great, and the platformer part of it was pretty solid. Great job.
