"Forbidden Psalms sucks..."

me: hey! be nice!

"...you in with a dark and intriguing premise"

me: ah, never mind,  carry on.

Hi,

I regret to say I will have to forfeit my contribution from the jam.

I kept pushing myself to get anything on the page, but between work, family and life catching up with me, September (and October, too, from this outlook) are proving to be too busy to commit to this project, even with Jack's generous extension of the final date.

I did like the initial idea I came up with (Horse For The Kingdom), so time permitting, I might finish it later.

I have very much enjoyed seeing all the ideas and projects bouncing around these threads.
There are really, truly original submissions out there that I cannot wait to read and play.

All the best !

Maarten

Thanks a lot, i'm swamped right now with work and i hardly had time to continue working on this.

Really neat system. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but I love how you distilled the bare essentials of the series onto two pages. Very curious to see how The Creed functions in practice!

My only remark is entry nr 2 on the complications table: there should ALWAYS be complications!😃

I'm gonna try to put this on a table in the near future, I'll let you know how it went.

Odyssey Aquatica

Link to game's page below!

Odyssey Aquatica by Old Dog Games (itch.io)

Just look at this beaut'.  It's a testament to the maker's skill AND to the versatility of the RPG medium as a whole.

The image would not make you suspect that the origins of this ttrpg game would lie in the epic mythmakings that is John Harper's excellent Agonyet here we are.

Fair warning, you will need a copy of  Agon or at least be familiar with the Paragon system in order to play Odyssey Aquatica.

In this game,  you go on aquatic adventures as part of a research team in the 1960's, following the footsteps of Jacques Cousteau, gaining fame or infamy on your missions and creating your memoires of your exploits as you go along. It could not be farther from the original system's source material, is wholly original and it is jam-packed with original ideas.

For the maker's among you, it is not only gorgeous looking, it is master class on layout, writing and how form follows function. There is not an ounce of fat in this  boo and I am forever envious how well-curated the entire thing is.

If that doesn't win you over, Old Dog Games even threw together a neat trailer:

Show the maker some love, and get it right now.

Hi! I just released TUNES & TURMOIL, a Lasers & Feelings hack where you play a band of non-human musicians playing gigs in wretched hives across faraway galaxies.

Make up a cool alien or robot, pick a musical vocation, an instrument and a band name.   2-6 Players, a few d6's and these rules should be enough to get you gigging the galaxy in no time.

Get it here! https://maartenr.itch.io/tunes-turmoil

There are plenty of great games that let you emulate space opera in all its glory.  And yet, to me, a vital element was always missing: raggedy puppets playing funky tunes! This is my attempt to remedy this.

This is my first hack ever, so any feedback at all is very much appreciated. I'm new to layout, and willing to learn. I'm happy that I managed to fit it all on one page, much like L&F. But I might come back and tinker with the gigging aspect a big more and expand upon the game as a whole.

Cool cool cool! Very curious to see this develop!

Re: the schematics. If you want to pursue this , I'd say make it into a very basic subsystem, nothing too fancy.  Provide players with some very basic shapes and symbols that communicate different interpretations of a schematic that can be combined or altered.  Agents add their own layer of symbols/shapes through some kind of oracle system or table generation? Like you said, it's not about simulating real schematics, but emulating change over time. Given that this is a 3 week jam though, there is a danger of it succumbing to feature creep.

Not sure if this helps, but I did come across this thing: Sigil Generator by watabou (itch.io)

That's actually a good point and all the encouragement I need to do this!

Neat concept! Very different  from anything I've read so far. Questions that  popped up after reading your example:

-  Is the manual complete? Is it ancient, containing old languages or archaic text?

- is it a manual in the technical sense, containing schematics? More like an encyclopedia, or a creed?

- Can Agents add, change or remove sections in/from the manual?

If you go down the route of the religious aspects you mentioned in your inspiration example:

- Does  such a manual leave its contents open to interpretation?

- Can the content be misinterpreted, in any way, and if so, to what extent ?

- Can it be spawn a religious offshoot or sect?  Can it unify people?  End wars?  Start crusades?

Not trying to push you into going down a certain path or anything, I'm merely pondering the ramifications of your specific example!

Sweet lord, too few A Field In England influences in TTRPG's. Good to see this happening!

Hmm, i'm finally diving into the SRD and this idea...might not fit the Object's definition:

The Object cannot act alone, it needs to be used by an Agent.

Unless I commit to focus on the Horse's interactions with the rider and the places they venture into,  I need to find a solution to make it "stationary" in some way. But is the Horse always docile? Can the Horse run away? Can it throw off its Rider?

Questions questions questions.

Holy  hell yes, I've been waiting for something like this to come around.
I've never designed a solo game before, but I do have one at the back of my mind that's more or less suited for this particular idea.
It's a bit of a mixture between Artefact and BoB, subject-wise at least.

You play as The Horse,  carrying wannabe adventurers to their stabs at glory and ultimately their doom.
As you finally rest your hooves, contemplate the various riders you carried to an uncertain fate, look back at your accomplishments, shortcomings and relationships, be it as Noble Steed, a Scourging Nightmare, or something else entirely.

Working Title: Horse For The  Kingdom

Not sure if it's a fitting idea, so any feedback at all is welcome!

Worked like a charm! Thanks a bunch!

Hi there! Really enjoying this game so far, but I think I hit a bug that prevents progression.

**mild spoilers for start of the game**

When gramps is back in his room and asks to open the shutters, I press the switch to open them. The game then prevents me from interacting with anything else. It's not frozen or anything, I just can't do anything else. Pressing H to highlight no longer highlights items, WASD no longer works.

I'm playing mouse/keyboard, and a reload of the saved progress triggers the same error. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Perfect! Purchased it, reading it now! Thank you SO much for setting this up!

Hi, *really* interested in purchasing this, and I'm thoroughly impressed by how you put this together, from what I can see. But is there any way to purchase this without using PayPal? If not, I can respect your choice, but I had too much hassle with PP in the past with linking cards to make a purchase.

Fantastic stuff! Incredible atmosphere and just all-round great writing. Looking forward to the next entry!

Thanks, fixed it!
