Hey everyone!

I just published the first playable alpha of Cursed Forest — a top-down

Slavic dark-fantasy roguelite made in Godot.

The goddess Dziewanna has been stolen by Marzanna, goddess of death.

The forest rots, winter won't end — and you descend from the last village

into the cursed woods of Jawia to bring her back.

What's in the alpha:

• An action prologue that teaches the blade on a cursed night road

• Weighty sword combat — light combos, heavy knockback blows, dodge i-frames

• A skill-draft system: build your own draw pool, draft on every level-up

• 10 maps with minibosses and bosses, ending at Old Wij himself

• Permanent progression between runs: Mastery, forged blade tiers, gear

• Slavic monsters: Domownik, Uboże, Kłobuk, Południca, Utopiec...

• Full EN/PL localization

It's free (donations optional). Windows 64-bit, ~360 MB download.

Fair disclosure: it's a solo project built with heavy use of AI tools —

3D models, music and key art are AI-generated, directed and assembled by me.

The alpha is fully playable start to finish.

I'd genuinely love brutal feedback — combat feel, difficulty, atmosphere,

what's missing. Every comment shapes what I build next.

Really helpful, thank you — especially the specifics. 1. That's exactly the angle I'm going for — the enemies, bosses and bits of lore are pulled straight from Slavic folklore (Leszy, Wij, Południca, Utopiec...). 2. Good catch on the cobblestone — yeah, some of the environment assets are rough and I'll rework them. The atmosphere is the part I most want to nail. 3. Working on it — a demo that gets the core loop across is the next milestone. 4. Appreciate you saying it straight. The AI question is real and I'd rather know where people stand than guess. I'll post a devlog when there's something to actually play. Thanks for taking the time 🖤

Totally fair — a description can only go so far. A playable build is the plan; I wanted to gauge if the *concept* (Slavic-folklore roguelite) was even worth building toward before I sink the time into a polished demo. Sounds like it is. Thanks for the honesty

Hey! I'm prtotyping a top-down Slavic dark-fantasy roguelite called Cursed Forest, made solo in Godot — and made entirely with AI (code, art, music, all directed/assembled by me). It's NOT playable yet — this is a concept gut-check. I'd love honest opinions before I sink more months into it.

THE PITCH

You're the Chosen one. Marzanna (goddess of death) has seized Dziewanna (goddess of nature) — the forest rots, the seasons stop. Run-based: village hub → step through a gate → arena (waves + boss) → death resets the run, but your Nawi Runes, forged blade and mastery stay. Push your luck: bank progress, or press onward for greater spoils. Hades-style loop, drenched in Slavic folklore.

WHAT EXISTS SO FAR (real prototype, screenshots on the page)

- 1 playable class (Witcher), 3 planned

- Skill draft system — build a draw pool, draw 1 of 3 on level-up

- A smith who forges your blade up tiers with runes

- 10-map world hub, tutorial, status effects (burn/bleed/blind)

- Slavic atmosphere + contextual music

WHAT I'M ASKING

1. Does a Slavic-folklore roguelite like this interest you at all?

2. Does the atmosphere / art direction land? (check the cover + screenshots)

3. What would make you actually WANT to play it?

4. Does it being made with AI matter to you — curious, or a turn-off?

Brutal honesty is exactly what I want. Thanks for taking a look 🖤
