Happy New Year, I’m an artist looking to make some stylized games in Unreal. Right now I’m really interested in trying experimental styles I haven’t seen before in the indie space.

Visual Deck Sample #1: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1YBy9Q2UckpD3fhjchbBW1OOWfUZRg1xWGt09yeBgyec/edit?usp=drivesdk

Visual Deck Sample #2: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12PZtMvXFous6AYJEJYi-zEmWe0DaejNp/view?usp=drivesdk

Currently, I’m interested in making a 2nd person horror as it’s smaller scope. But since you already have tools, I’d be up for a top down 2D or a rougelike. Personally, I’d like to work towards going for an Epic Megagrant, so want to do an HD2D game that helps contribute both to stylized art and the 2D art space in Unreal. Hope we can chat and see if we’re a fit!

Hello! I'm interested in seeing the inspo board and brief. Since I’m style agnostic, I would love to work on a heavily inked style to add to my existing inkwork repotoire.

Hey! What sort of things are you interested in doing skill wise on a team? Are you open to doing art tasks, writing, or do you want to focus only on the programming side of things?

Hello!
I'm the lead artist on a HD 2D Unreal game doing: tech artist, 3D artist, UI artist, and 2D artist. We're looking for a 4th revshare partner, someone who can produce low poly count 3D organic props, as well as process existing fbx to add custom unreal colliders and arranging UVs according to custom materials. Since the materials are unlit, most of the work we're asking for is static meshes and UV arrangement on the palettes as shown below. We do have additional props for foliage and 2D HD blending, but like the materials below, they are also already built in engine and only require static meshes and UV processing.

Above is an example of a UV material which is a simple palette based texture, transposed images and noise textures are then added in the Engine.

Here is another example, this time showing the use of blurred lines between the palette colors that allows us to make a gradient. This one also shows simple custom Unreal collisions made in Blender.

As you can see, the polycount is incredibly low, the palettes are meant to dramatically reduce the need for large additional textures, materials are meant to allow large variations, and the shapes are meant to evoke Disney with both hard edges and soft organic flows.

We also have transition actors, so the models can be switched at critical story moments. This happens for both 2D and 3D assets. While the 2D shapes follow closer to their shapes (like reskins), the 3D assets just need to have the same general curved motions and be approximately the same size.

If you're interested in the project, please let me know!

Hello! We're looking for our 4th team member on a revshare project called Whoopie, an Unreal 2D HD game.

Since I'm a tech artist, 3D artist, UI artist, and 2D artist, I'd like to work with someone who has my back and contributes a significant amount to the project per week. Either 2D or 3D. The type of 3D artist we need is a polycount 3D organic props artist, someone who's okay with making their own props, but also comfortable processing existing fbx to add custom unreal colliders and arranging UVs according to custom materials.

Art style was superb, mechanics were clean, and it had a very addictive game loop.

Really loved the doll visuals. Fun little polished game, would love to see this developed out into a full blown commercial piece!

Great game, great polish. Voice acted, very visually appealing, and the mechanics were fun. Thought the take on the theme was creative and fitting. I personally didn't have any issues with the die drop mechanics. Nice and clean!

Thanks for checking out our game. This was fun to play, the little lore details were funny. The mechanics were easy to figure out, only issue I noticed was my chicken guy broke.

Thank you! The greens were really fun to play with!

Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, I noticed the Rabbit Charm issue after the fact too, thanks for pointing it out.

I love Japanese mythology too! This game is based on Korean mythology so there are a lot of symbolic overlaps, if you're interested I'd definitely recommend looking up Minhwa and shipjangsaengdo. Lots of beautiful artwork!

Thanks a lot!

Hey! Let me know if you're still free to jam :D
Or maybe afterwards if you'd be interested in joining a project

My discord: ludicrousbiscuit

Hello!
I'm Biscuit a 3D/2D Art Generalist and Game/Level Designer working on an indie project called Whoopie. Our current team for this jam is Whoopie's Programmer Uhr. And SFX Sound Designer/Composer Benjamin.

Our Team is looking for an additional artist to join for the jam and maybe join us on our current project (Whoopie) afterwards if they're interested. We're going with a 3D C++ Unreal Engine (5.6.1) for this jam. While 3D art would be best, I can set dress with 2D art as long as it's raster and not pixel since I am comfortable working with HD 2D.
All the Best,
Biscuit

Fantastic Benjamin,
Apologies for the late response, I've added you on discord (ludicrousbiscuit) and look forward to talking to you there!
All the Best,
Biscuit

Hello Benjamin!
We have inspirations for a sound palette as well as a sound sheet, do you have a discord or a preferred private contact I can link to?

Also, considering your body of work, I just want to make sure that you saw this is a Revshare project.

All the Best,

Biscuit

Our Unreal HD2D game is looking for a Sound partner who is interested in doing Sound Effects & Compositions. We have a sound design sheet as well as a GDD with composition reference ideas and detailed notes. However, we want someone who can chase their own unique sound for compositions within a gothic fairytale or spooky jazz fairytale realm. Ideally, we want someone who knows how to clip, loop, and make overall game ready sounds.

This is a revshare position.

Thank you!

Hello! Are you still looking for projects to join?

We're still looking for an artist!

Hey, I'm happy to take on a volunteer artist for a revshare project I am working on.

Specifically, I need someone to do in-betweens for 8 characters: 2D animations (spritesheets)
I'd also be happy to accept stylized environment assets for each of the different environments shown in the style reference above.

Thanks! Looking forward to talking to you :D

Not sure if you're interested, but I have a creepy cute game right now that is partially developed. I think it sort of fits what you're looking for since the game is highly choice based, sort of like Dream Hollow, Look Outside, or Fear and Hunger:Termina. I'm trying to pass on the art and switch over to level design/sound to help progress this faster and I noticed your style and mine are quite similar. Any chance in teaming up? Maybe combining our stories?

Nice to meet you and great portfolio! I'd love to talk, please reach out to my discord: ludicrousbiscuit
I'm  in the EDT timezone

Hello, I'm working on a game called Whoopie, a HD2D platformer RPG in a Grimm's Fairytale Candyland!

We've made good headway into this revshare project. I would like to find an artist to come on board and join us doing 2D animations and other assets. If you love Fantasia, creepy cute games, and bold art styles please reach out :D
