Thanks a ton for your support Nosferatube, it really means a lot and helps a ton with development!

The engine will be usable as soon as Early Access is out! :)

Pre-order is useful to you if you're sure you're going to use it when it's ready and you want to get it at a big discount (35$), and it's useful to me since it enables support before the product is ready for Early Access :)

Hey! :) Themes are already implemented, everything will be customizable with tilesets and setting desired hex colors! Regarding pre-orders, it grants complete access to both the engine and all its updates, no limitations. But it says pre-order because the early access is not ready yet, sorry! Check the roadmap post in the community if you want a cleare overview of the situation.
I'm very very glad you like this project, if you think it's going to be useful, please, share it with friends :)

Thank you for the genuine enthusiasm and appreciation Starlit, it's greatly appreciated! *-*

Hi Starlit!

Good news, it IS part of the engine and it's also already implemented (split screen and LAN still WIP, same screen multiplayer with unlimited players already functional).

I agree 100% with you, I also love couch coop and local multiplaying and that's why I consider it a main feature :)

Hey Enrique :)
Of course there will be a way to test the engine and example projects!

I really like this project! Really interesting concept. Do you need any help with it? :) I'm not super advanced with Godot or GDScript but I can make it work. I'm not a fantastic artist but I can make art. Also I'm fantastic with game testing and I am an advanced programmer and can use Git and Github. Let me know!

Hey Enrique!

Here are your options to build the game's world:

  • Module assembly (pre-made rooms mixed and matched randomly)
  • Terrain generation (multiple options, procedural)
  • Handmade content (used to create both entire maps and map modules)
  • Modify by hand generated maps (create entire map with terrain generation and module assembly and then improve it by hand)

Let me know if you have any questions! :)

For what regards publishing for the web, I can't make promises about it yet but it should be possible to convert your game into javascript!

AME Engine

AME Engine is a powerful, no-code toolkit for creating turn-based dungeon crawlers.

Design creatures, mechanics, and levels through modular building blocks, craft procedural worlds, and ship your game to Windows and Linux.

All with an intuitive, guided workflow built for solo creators and indie developers.

You can find AME Engine here: https://lucagge.itch.io/ame-engine

Hi Evergreen,

I understand what you mean. For the videos, you'll have to wait until a little further in development, since the current version is still lacking some important features and it would look too plain :)

Hi Enrique!
As we said in the other post, a first person pov in fake 3D is already part of the core features (think pokemon), instead a full 3D person view, like most classic dungeon crawlers, was expected as a request and will be added later :)

Hi Enrique! :)

Yes, I there will be: I was sure I was going to be asked about it and so there's no doubt it will be added. I suggest to move you feature request in the "Features Requests" dedicated topic :) You came early, so you'll see the topics are still empty, but this will be solved on Monday!

Anyway, thanks for your appreciation, I simply share your love for all old-school dungeon crawlers! :)

AME Engine Development Phases

This topic will help the community understand and monitor the engine's roadmap. For a more "atomic" understanding of development progress, see the dedicated Devlog.

Before outlining the development phases, a brief clarification.

It may seem unusual to describe a software as “finished.” In the case of AME Engine, this is possible for two reasons:

  1. The project has a clearly defined goal. The engine is designed to achieve a specific objective, making it possible to determine when that objective has been fully met.
  2. The development philosophy prioritizes completeness over feature inflation. Many modern software products continuously introduce unnecessary features, minor performance tweaks, or delayed core functionality, only to justify recurring subscription models.

AME Engine follows a different approach. Rather than adding arbitrary features in future versions, development will focus on implementing meaningful improvements that users actually request and that are technically feasible. Updates beyond Phase 4 will occur only if there is genuine demand.

Maintaining compatibility with modern operating systems (such as Windows and Linux) and ensuring long-term stability and bug fixes is considered a responsibility of the developer and will remain part of ongoing support.

CURRENT PHASE:

📍 Phase 2: Primary Development

🗹 Phase 1 - Mid 2023 to Late 2025

Foundation and Internal Development

  • The engine is not publicly available during this phase.
  • Core architecture, engine framework, and fundamental systems are developed.
  • Initial gameplay functionality is implemented and internally tested.

📍 Phase 2 - Early 2026 to Late 2027

Primary Development

  • Pre-orders become available with a significant early-supporter discount.
  • Core feature set is fully implemented.
  • Extensive testing, optimization, and bug fixing take place.

☐ Phase 3 - Early 2028

Early Access

  • The engine becomes available in Early Access at a discounted price.
  • Final development stage begins.
  • Remaining bugs are resolved and quality-of-life improvements are introduced.
  • Late feature requests and final refinements are implemented where appropriate.

☐ Phase 4 - Late 2028

Official Release

  • The engine reaches its final release and becomes available at full price.
  • Development transitions to long-term support.
  • Ongoing maintenance includes bug fixes, operating system compatibility updates, and occasional improvements when justified by user demand.

Hello everyone!

This topic is intended to collect all feature requests for AME Engine.

You'll see that some are already planned or have even been implemented.

Current features: https://pastebin.com/Qnu1EFPd

Requested features: https://pastebin.com/TFnDVaju

Before the project reaches Early Access, this topic will be especially useful for seeing what's already part of the project and for suggesting imaginative ideas.

See you soon!

Thanks!

Game's nice, the ending as someone else said leaves you wanting a little bit more. I also recommend the devs to re-check the narrative, as their english is a bit crude (try using an AI or even google trad maybe). The only complaint I have, is that during the first gameplay I got a blue screen of death and my computer brutally crashed, that was quite annoying but didn't happen again.

Very cool and funny game! Would absolutely recommend.

Oh sorry my bad, I didn't catch what you were trying to say! I am not very surprised by all the games made with Python, it's actually an extremely friendly and viable language for games (mainly 2D, and if you're gonna have some shaders and stuff it's going to be a little bit harder). I can tell this by direct experience. If you like game development and you're considering Python, go for Pygame CE and check out DaFluffyPotato YT channel, I really recommend it to you. Once you have worked out the main things (which level editor? How to import levels? How do I use OpenGL or similar? Etc), it's really an enjoyable experience IMO.

Thanks for the feedback Robo, I too think something decent could be made from this draft. It would be nice to have undo, cancel lines, having lines to have different colors, and especially to have some GUI - the latter was programmed to be there from scratch but I found I messed up with the libraries I chose, so it wasn't possible in the short amount of time I had at my disposal...

Hey Mikle, thanks for the feedback - I was quite sure it would not work on a machine without Pythone installed. It's a pity, but that's all learning material for me.

I think this is a great concept. I see how this could be extremely useful for game developers and graphics people. Cool entry!

That was funny to use! It's one of these cool tools you use when you are seeking inspiration for a short novel, comic or D&D campaign. Well done!

I love the idea, I love the execution, I love that you may keep this on. I think it's great!!!

Very cute! Also, I always love to see retro tools!

Very cool and original idea. My compliments!

This looks a lot like an old, unfinished project of mine! I think the idea is great. The tool is very easy to use and it delights you with tons of fun. I really liked it!

Thanks man, I appreciate your feedback!

Best vote I've got in my life!

I love you for doing that. LOL

Understood! Thanks jakubtomsu, you gave me a clear picture. Will follow your work for sure!

I'm very curious about it (haven't tried Raylib yet), did you have to touch shaders at all or did you just import models and that was it? Especially for animated materials, I have no idea how that would work...

I tried it. Cool! I don't know many cool 3D projects on Raylib, I was very curious to see its capabilities.

May also be Godot. It's not UE for sure because it has problems with stylized shading!

Hey Dragon, The Chasm is coming on Steam! You have to wait untile October 6th to buy it, but meanwhile you can wishlist it so you'll know when it's out! :) Here's the link: store.steampowered.com/app/1140900/The_Chasm/

Hey Neco! So glad you posted to give feedback. I'm watching your video right now, I can't wait to hear your criticism and I'll gladly comment & like your gameplay! :)
About the permadeath, I'm afraid it's a key mechanic for the game - and for all randomly generated dungeon crawlers in general. I know it's kinda frustrating but it'll make it 100 times more satisfying when you win :)
Gonna finish watching your video! Thanks so much for the visibility!

Hey! Nope, you get a downloadable :( The good news is, if you'd like to wait (it'll take almost a couple of months, not gonna lie) "The Chasm" is going to be sold on Steam :)
Anyway, thank you very much for the interest! It's greatly appreciated :)

You are very welcome ^-^

Hey guys!

I just uploaded my first solo-developed game on @Itch.io and I'd love to know what you think about it! If you don't want to support the project, don't worry, the gameplay video is pretty explanatory (even if it's outdated... working on a trailer right now)! :)

About the game

The Chasm is a fully 3D dungeon crawling experience set in a mine whose depths face an endless pit of cosmic horror. Test your skills in a procedurally generated mine, dig and crawl to its deepest depths and be the miner who closed The Chasm forever... if you can survive the creatures lurking in the darkness!

Try to beat the game and tell me how it went - but be warned, it's pretty challenging!
No known bugs. Windows 32/64bit compatible. Developed with Ureal Engine 4.

I really love this super-pixely minimalistic graphic. My best compliments! :)
