No problem! We appreciate everyone who points out things that may be bugs, or that should be improved. We've struggled to get play testers for this game, so your feedback is very helpful in shaping the future of Clown Containment.

There's a handful of secrets to clown containment that aren't written/pointed to in any way inside the game, which can only be discovered by trying things that sound like they shouldn't work. We've debated different ways to hint at these secret rules, but we're both fans of games that reward players for taking risks and trying weird things, so we want to avoid making it obvious. There will be achievements (eventually) that help point players towards the secrets.

One of our main ideas is that the Reintegration Center is very new, and how clowns fit into society hasn't been well researched. You're given enough information to always make the right choice, but that doesn't mean it's the only right choice.

I believe we have worked out that every purchase of Indiepocalypse #74 will come with a key to Clown Containment so that you always have access to the most updated version of the game. If you're considering buying Indiepocalypse #74 instead of Clown Containment I recommend you do so, you'd still be supporting us, along with some other great creators!

Hey! I'm glad you like the game! I apologize for the late response.

There are a handful of families that do not have their house size marked, and they are assigned a specific house size. This is intentional, the original thought being that you couldn't trust every person to fill out an application form correctly, and these families could be assigned to clowns with adaptable house size needs (with the added fun of being able to take a risk and bet on an unknown, hoping it works out).

The code guarantees an appropriate family is pulled from the database, for every clown each day (excluding "zoo bound" clowns). So if the only compatible family is one that has no house size listed, than their house size must be the correct size for the clown. It's just an extra layer of puzzle to make some days a bit harder.

We were featured in this month's Indiepocalypse! You can check it out here: https://pizzapranks.itch.io/indiepocalypse-74

Thanks for playing the game! Glad you're enjoying it so far! The next update is hard at work! We've been debating making the clickable objects more noticeable day one so it's a bit clearer where to start, we've had a couple people say they were a bit lost at first.

So happy you're enjoying the lore! There's lots more planned still. We're thinking about other game modes for the future but currently, we're working on the story mode being a month-long so you get to see more of how your choices impact the families, clowns, and political shifts in the world!

Hey JokerHart,

In this case, the needs are correct. There are six tiers to dominant vs recessive needs in our game. In the case of a circus/harlequin hybrid, the circus breeds clown compatibility states "Recessive trait: Will dominate all other recessive traits," while the harlequin's clown compatibility only says "Recessive trait," which means you take the need from the Circus breed page.

As far as needing to select the breed twice. I fully agree with you, it was my plan to fix this before the last update, but after we found several game-breaking bugs, we decided to prioritize fixing those and pushing the update ASAP over the handful of quality of life updates we wanted to include. They will be added in 1.0.2.

Awesome! I'm really glad it works now!

I'm glad the demo works! We just uploaded the update! Make sure you unzip the download, and if you're getting this blue screen (Photo attached) you can hit "More info" to try running the game.

I hope it works!

Hopefully, the coming update will make mixed-breed identification less of a hassle!

Thank you for the tip! We just found out Calico, Jingles, Caramel, and Jovial are impossible to solve due to mistakes with their assets. Expect an update within the next week to patch this. I am sorry for the mistake.

Either way works! You can also tag us on Instagram or Tumblr, whatever is easier for you!

We do intend to make it compatible with Mac in the future. Currently, we are locked to Windows because of the encryption method I use, but I have been looking into other methods.

Thank you so much for the support! I do not know if Itch allows refunds, but I am happy to look into it if you would prefer to be refunded.

Hey Fatedframer, what are you running the game on? The game is currently only compatible with 64-bit Windows computers due to the encryption method I use. Learning other encryption methods is on my to-do list, but it has been difficult, especially since I only have a 64-bit computer myself.

To full screen the demo, select settings (The top right button) on the home screen, and the top left button of the settings menu sets the game to full screen. You can also do this after selecting new game by hitting the button in the top left of the screen after the game begins.

Thank you for playing our game! Clowns from the same breed lineage can indeed breed with each other!

Hey Falsus, I just realized I never responded to this! We have added more bookmarks to the to-do list. Scrollable bookmarks are a good idea! We'll have to try it out and see how it feels.

I would love to see the table! We've been inspired by the recent surge in interest in this game and really appreciate knowing people are actually enjoying it! However, I am hesitant to say whether or not your information is correct.

Thank you for playing our game and for the feedback! I did notice the reservation flier was perhaps not clear enough. It'll be updated in the next version of the game, as well as information on placement mistakes. I agree the lighting is probably the most confusing aspect. I'll have to think on making that clearer. In the meantime, I will say the intention of the reserve is for clowns that are compatible with other clowns and do not need people or pets.

😮 Writing out the table is impressive! Early in the game development, we toyed with having 5 bookmarks, but we didn't like how it looked. We will play with the idea a bit more and see if we can make more bookmarks visually appealing, but they can't cover the drawer because it's interactable.

Thank you!!

Thank you for your feed back! Adopting your own clown is a fun idea! We don't currently have any plans for that in the game but we'll keep that in mind going forward! Cowboy and Basil will both be in Clown Catchers, a TCG we are working on, currently in prototype phase. We would love to see fan art if you decide to draw them!

Thank you! It means a lot to hear you're enjoying the game! Currently, the end-of-week review is the end of the game. We have been working on a longer version of the game, but I don't have a timeline yet for when that will be available. Before that comes out, there will be an update to make identifying mixed breeds easier and allow you to see specific placement mistakes. Likely other updates to follow as we've found a lot we can improve on since publishing version 1.

There are over 150 individual clowns in the current version of the game, and the clowns you get each day are randomized, so I encourage you to restart your playthrough if you want to see every clown. Hopefully, we will have an update for you soon!

Thanks for playing our game! Hearing that people are enjoying it has been a great motivator for working hard on the next update!

Thanks for playing our game! There's a lot more we're working on to add to the game. Clearer information on mistakes is on the list! More lore as well! We appreciate the feedback!

Thank you for letting us know! We can definitely add a downloadable version for the demo.

That's a really good idea!

I went back and checked if I missed anything. I did miss the text explaining which house to go to because i got distracted by the mouse instruction. Definitely a me error lol

Just rated and commented! Here's mine https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-14/rate/3849819

Cute game! I like the walking animation. I thought I was supposed to interact with the doors somehow before running around and realizing there was someone outside of a house.

Really fun! I didn't understand what the gun bar was for at first. I thought it might be a recharge bar.

Very cute, i love the variety in mini games!

Love the game. Figuring out how i was supposed to leave the merchant menu took me a bit.

The concept and art style are really cute. In the first frame after talking to the shop owner i tried to walk back to the friend and i was suddenly in a hallway which i was confused by. I was hesitant to try the skip button to move the text forward as i thought it would skip all the dialog. A very ambitious project for being done in a week! Nice job!

Trying your game right now! Here's mine! https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-14/rate/3849819

The concept is really cool! It took me a second to figure out what i was supposed to be doing but it wasn't too confusing. The seed number was overlapping the confirm seed button for some reason but it might be my specific browser that was the issue.

I'll rate your game as well! Here's our game! https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-14/rate/3849819

I love the concept and the graphics are super cute. The bottom of the game was cut off in my browser so i couldn't read what the button at the bottom or the numbers next to it said but i figured it out. Fun game!

Love the visual style you went with for this!

Fun idea. I like the character designs and the movement is smooth.

Cool concept, very ambitious!

Really cute idea and theme interpretation. I wish there was a bit more of a tutorial. I read the explanation of where the idea came from which I think is really fun but without knowing about this song before hand I didn't understand what tapping the pocket accomplished and would have liked to see just a bit more explanation within the game.

Nice game, I gave it a few tries but couldn't make it until the timer ran out. Those spinning lasers are super hard to dodge with everything else going on lol.

I love the art! It's a very interesting game!
