Wow I'm impressed! After 20 minutes after playing this gaming experience I got to 203, and wowie zowie! I was not in the expecting of that end!

You know what's funny? When there was no song posted on your page yet, I had originally given you 3 stars all across because I was like, "silence is the ultimate background music for all" lol.
I really like your chord progressions here! You did one of my favorite key modulations, going to the m3rd key above, from C major to Eb major (it's used so much in Kirby music!. I liked the simple way to get back to C major as well with going from Eb - > Ab -> F -> G -> C. That was a nice little pathway back to the home key!
The lo-fi production was really nice too! Great job!
Apparently, you can automate certain processes in Reaper with their custom programming language called Luna. I keep hearing about it through the grapevine in my professional circles that I'm starting to get a bit of FOMO from it lol. I need to do more research on the subject myself.
I'll also have to check out DPM. I'm always open to finding new DAWs I can recommend folks!
Whoa! Is Frozencity bitonal? I hear C major for the pizz bass strings but then E major (and a bit of C# minor which is just the relative minor of E major) in the other parts until everything goes into E major later on. This tune makes me want to listen to a tune i made in high school that I made in C major and C# major at the same time that sits in the deep depths of my hard drive lol.
418 also is great vibe! Feels like something from Fez. I swear you are going for bitonality in both these pieces, because I hear you playing a Dmaj7 of the A major riff you keep from the beginning.
Great work!
Yup! I use Reaper because of the more "bare-bones" feel to it, plus when I was a broke high school student all those years ago, I saw that you could evaluate as long as you wanted. So it would be like, "we see that you've been evaluating Reaper for 467 days, would you like to buy?" and I'd be all "sorry, I'm still thinking about it, mayb after the 468th day I'll be able to decide" lol. But jokes aside, I feel like Reaper gives me the most freedom to do wacky stuff with music, the other DAWs like Logic, Ableton, etc. feel like they hold my hand a bit too much with the stock plugins and interface. One of these days, I also want to explore writing custom Luna scripts as well, but I still haven't thought of why I would need those yet...
Thanks!
That ending part actually sneaks in a quote from Brahm's Lullaby but with the main syncopated rhythm that I used as a mottif throughout the song. You saying starry night sky makes me immediately think of the credit song at the end of Milky Way Wishes in Kirby Super Stars (even though that's unrelated lol)
Whoa! The sound design and production in this one is off the charts!!
I like the crunchy sound in the beginning. The open hihat with the truncated high range fits so well in the middle of the mix as well. This could fit in perfectly in a Risk of Rain game! Towards the end I even heard something that sounded like a rare instrument called a daxophone. Bravo!
Do you design your own sounds, and if so, with what?
Thank you very much!
Even though I never played anything past Gen 3, I still love listening to the new town themes while I'm working. They are usually just a step outside of lo-fi beats on the chill factor lol. I think this washing my brain over with new Pokemon town themes has made that vibe permeate into my brain without knowing it!
That intro felt like a quote / inspired by the Great Fairy Theme from Zelda! I liked the chill beach vibes. It reminds me of this retro anime that no one has probably heard of before called Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou.
I thought that Dreams Are Nothing But Wishes was good! Especially that little chromatic creep a little after the beginning part : )
You're post wasn't stupid at all. If the process wasn't frustrating, everyone would be doing it. I think that's the beauty of getting slowly good at something. In one sense, we just got to keep on keeping on.
My wife teaches toddlers, and they will just randomly run up to me all the time being like "MY NAME IS TEDDY N I WANTIN TO SAY 2U THAT MY BESs FRIEND ISHHAFISHNAMEEDCHARRLEE AND MY GRANMA THAT iSAW ON 2SDAY WAS uhhhhh TORNADO." They can barely English but they are so happy to throw it in your general direction to connect with you. Kids teach me so much about how to just accept the process and let our mistakes stay behind us without looking back. They all grow up to be just fine at English too!
You made some good tunes! And you connected with folks on here! The disappointment will pass : D

Okay! That's very similar to how I do stuff too! I also love extended harmonies as well. Thanks! : )
I also enjoy a lot of 20th century / 21st century composers. I think my main ones would be Charles Ives, Debussey, Prokofiev (as well! Especially his Romeo and Juliet opera. Love all of it!), John Adams, John Cage etc. I also love love love a lot of Japanese composers like Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yoko Kanno (Napple Tale is so peak if you've never heard that soundtrack.), and of course Joe Hisaishi.
I'll have to check out Ruth Gipps and Charles Koechlin though! Never heard of them actually...
