Found a bug? Please report it here! Here are a list of known bugs as of April 1st:
Known Bugs
- Talking animations for visual scene for forest boss fight are broken. The player's avatar also shows temporarily.
- Pewter Joy does not always move correct when walking in and out of the room
- A door opens in the end scene of the game, which shouldn't.
Thank you all for playing!
Below are the current known list of bugs. Here I exclude some quality of life changes (e.g. the jumping Misty head doesn't always appear in dialogue, which I have to add manually most times). If you find a bug, please provide a description and screenshot (if possible). Also, if any moves cause glitches when using Metronome (where, I assume most bugs will occur), please let me know!
Known Bugs
- The talking animation for the post-Giovanni visual scene can break. Previously, the MiSTY talking animations were breaking, but these I believe to be fixed
- During the post-Giovanni visual scene, the player's avatar peaks into view
- Joy2 does not always move correct when walking in and out of the room
- At the very last scene of the demo, a door opens that should not.
Thank you all for playing!
THIS IS A PARODY
THIS IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH NINTENDO/GAME FREAK/THE POKEMON COMPANY INTERNATIONAL. IT IS ONLY A PARODY DESIGNED TO MAKE FUN OF THEIR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Do you like video games, and Japanese culture? Are you a huge weeb with an anime girl avatar? Do you drink the sweat of your favorite Twitch streamers to keep yourself awake at night? THEN THIS GAME IS FOR YOU! NOT POKEMON: MISTY ORANGE is a dating parody sim of the original Pokemon games and anime!

Ash Ketchum never went on his Pokémon adventure but stayed home in his mom's basement to play video games, watch anime, and ogle 'Tat streamers. One Friday night, his favorite streamer and leader of the Water Gym (Misty!) announces she will marry whoever can beat her in a Pokémon battle by the end of the weekend! Armed with no potential, training, or capabilities of any kind, Ash rushes off on a magical journey to win the love of his life! But will all those beautiful women he meets along the way really let him get to Misty?
NOT Pokémon: Misty Orange is a dating sim parody of the early Pokémon games/anime. It's based on Pokébeach's 2008 interview with Masamitsu Hidaka, the former director of the Pokémon anime. In addition to some other gems, Hidaka stated the Pokémon anime wouldn't then keep Misty as a permanent character because they liked switching up girl characters and slapping them in bathing suits to keep boys interested. The current demo is a third of the game's length, with an expected completion of the whole game within the next two to three years.
- Misty!
- Over two hours of straight unabated memes!
- Designed for streamers!
- Receive female attention (females are not actually real)!
- Secret content galore!
- Branching dialogue and sub-quests!
- A questionable understanding of biology!
- Exclamation Points!
- Catch tons of Pokémon? No limitations!

HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY!
Hello! So, I think when Temmie Change compiled Escaped Chasm, she hit a box that removed all unused files from the compiled game. As a result, a lot of core RPG Maker files that she just doesn't use aren't included in the game.
For iconset.png, you can circumvent the problem by just putting a blank .png file with the missing file name in the img/system file of the project. So in my hack, I did it like this: https://ibb.co/p4yzd5r
It may say that it can't find any other files as well. Just continue to put blank files wherever it says that something is missing. If you want, you can even download my hack, Captured Canyon, and just steal the blank files I used and put them into your hack if that helps.
Hope this is useful, and good luck with your project!
I can see that point. That section was indeed the hardest albeit that section's placement late in the game and the frequent saves you provide justify the difficulty. So, I would say it was more difficult, but not conceptually unfair, although I could see how some players might think that way.
Also, another note: I liked the one gem that you provide a peek of before the player falls down a chasm and then suddenly sees later in the ascent. That was clever.
Very well done! It took me 17;17 on my run. All the mechanics are intuitive and you do a good job of introducing them throughout and building upon each. I died 46 times total, but none of the times felt unfair. The minimalistic style is also extremely well done, looks nice, and is very effective. It's always clear what will kill you and what you need to do.
Everyone opposing this tax software is just a secret IRS officer sent by Jerome Powell to stop the weeb revolution. Do you think the government wants you to find true love and exciting new tax breaks that will make you rich and romantically fulfilled? Absolutely not. Jerome Powell just wants to keep hiking the rates in order to crash all the banks and start a recession so that no one will be able to afford anime or the waifu of their dreams.
I only discovered Space Funeral last year (which had such a good sound selection that it propelled me to go on a personal journey of musical exploration) and so this series was a welcome new find. I binged it all in a day. Each episode always feels fresh and never repetitive, dangling newfound swords of damocles over BB's murder-prone head. They all capture well the otherworldly, unpredictable, and sometimes numinous feelings of dreams. It's also nice to see the episodes get gradually more technically complex and artistically refined. BB also just has an appealing art style and character- she's like a perverse Nancy Drew who runs headlong into mystery and certain death and yet somehow always pops out on the other end unscathed, having learned nothing other than that she won't be paid for any of her efforts.
One comment from a design point(spoilers): I've found that chase sequences are a little less scary the further I go in the series because I know that if I get caught (or, at least feel this way. I try not to get caught) that BB will just get transported somewhere that will advance the plot. They're still mostly tense and anxiety-inducing, but I wonder if there's a way to counteract the player's gradual acclamation to this throughout the series (if this even should matter)? Anyway, this is a very minor point and this series is otherwise masterful in many ways. I can't wait for the next installment!
Also, I was very thankful to have watched that video of those guys eating at all the Rainforest Cafes so that I could appreciate the final episode better.
Hey! Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm so glad to hear you all enjoyed it so much, haha! Some of the songs are from Dweller's Empty Path and some of them are not. I've uploaded a ZIP file of all the songs that are not from Dweller's Empty Path. If you want to support the Dweller's Empty Path sound people, you can do it by buying the soundtrack either here or here, which are the official links posted for the project.
Anyway, thanks so much for the support again! It's always nice to hear how much people enjoy these silly games!
Hey! Finally got around to playing it! This was really helpful to see, I'm glad you enjoyed it and it was especially nice to see someone familiar with Dweller's Empty Path and its various secrets see exactly what I was parodying! Thanks so much again for playing it. Your playthrough actually got more people to play it, which in turn got it a higher view rating on itch.io, so actually like 100 more people played this because you did this. It was a nice surprise for the week!
Yeah, so about the glitch you found. Yoki is supposed to block you from going upstairs after the chase scene finishes. But, I missed some check and it let you go back upstairs and entered a door, which reset chase mode when chase mode was not finished but also didn't let you end chase mode because it was already marked as finished. I really need to go back and fix that sometime and it's super helpful to see what led up to it.
Anyway, this was extremely useful. I'm considering doing some other fun game parody project sometime later this year and seeing this was helpful because it gives me a better idea of what jokes landed and what did not. It's really helpful to compare this with Neco's commentary in addition to the people commenting on your stream (I enjoyed the person who said I sounded like a dad trying to relate to kids, lol). Aside from that, the biggest takeaway I got from this was that I need to add more alt dialogue. It's nice to see someone explore anything and I'd really like to put more stuff out there for players like you. For future projects, I'll also try to put a non-fullscreen mode, that's a good point for streamers, and I'll be cognizant about having a more balanced volume and avoiding somewhat disturbing noises (people really hate that eating sound).
Thanks again so much! You had a good stream presence and once I turned the video on it flew on by. I apologize once again for the delay, I'm writing a book for work and this current chapter has just been a time sink. But, I am glad that I was finally able to go view it and it was a really fun experience. Once again, I sincerely appreciate it!
Hey! Thanks so much for doing this! I apologize for not responding to your earlier post. I've been a funk all this week and have had trouble keeping up even with work emails (I've had to catch up on a lot of work I've been putting off for some time this week, which just sapped me of energy). But, I'm going to set some time to look at this sometime in the week, probably in chunks! Once again, I appreciate you doing this and I'm surprised how much attention and plays it got after you did this! This is really the stuff that makes making the hacks worth it. I've been jonesing to work on another sometime, but we'll see.
But seriously, this is amazing. I can't wait to dive into it when I get a chance!
Hey! Sorry for the delayed response! I saw this at like 4 am when I woke up, wanted to respond later, and then forgot to get back to it. I'm glad you've been so impressed with it so far and that would be wonderful if you recorded your playthrough! I can't make 12 EST Sunday- I have church and then lunch plans afterwards. I'd be more than happy to watch the recording later when I get some free time later, though! It's very helpful to see interactions to things as they happen to gauge what jokes work and what jokes do not, so it'd be especially appreciated! Someone (they've changed their name a couple of times now) did one for Yoki's Revenge a while back and it really helped me improve my humor and make the following hacks better!
As always, thank you so much for your passion and all your comments. They are sincerely appreciated.
Yes, thank you for doing the direct reply (I'm replying to one of your comments further down)! Apparently your other two posts afterwards had not alerted me in my email. I also apologize for the delay on my end still, I had a very large report to submit this week and that sort of consumed all my energies and time. But thank you for going back and seeing all the alternate dialogue, haha! I'm pretty sure you got everything at that point, which is nice to hear because a lot of times I wonder if anyone ever sees all the alternate dialogue (especially the void stuff and subsequent dialogue changes)! I always wonder how committed the players will be (you were very committed, which is great!). And yeah, if I recall correctly, the sugar is a bit of a lose-lose situation, haha. It'd be fun to have the game save what the player has done previously, like if you had previously eaten the sugar, albeit RPG Maker is very stiff if you try to do anything outside its normal functions (I had to manually rotate the image for each of those pizzas at the end...).Thank you so much once again for playing through this and playing through it thoroughly! I always see the number of downloads/plays go up on the itch.io page, but I don't see people enjoying it and I'm glad that all my stupid jokes were able to entertain you so well, haha. And also, it shows people were getting the humor (like how you mentioned the awkward conversation of being locked in the house from the outside), which helps encourage me to make more things like this. So once again, thank you so much and I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed it so thoroughly!
Hahahaha, thank you for your long, very generous, and excited commentary! It is good to know the humor is appreciated and this is the kind of stuff that makes making these hacks worthwhile. Yes, depending on the song LG will respond to different people differently, commenting based on the song that she is listening to. I think the Aimolette pizza call and maybe Claire's call depend on this, as also does the shower scene. I am so glad someone committed to eating the sugar jar 100 times. I was hoping one person would try that, haha.
And yes, you can actually get the pizza at the end! What you have to do is on the last day, in the kitchen make sure you talk to the doll but leave it there. Turn the radio back on, it won't come on immediately, but you will get a weird noise and the girl will say it's heating up. When you go back into the main hall, you should hear a doorbell. You can answer the door or run into the kitchen and living room and bathroom and the dialogue will change a bit. Whatever the case, you can now open the door (which will change whether or not you got locked IN the house via visiting the void too much) and get the pizzas. Once the pizzas are in the house, you can then go up and talk to Zera. You should then be able to get the true ending.
Once again, thanks for your commentary! I sincerely enjoyed it!
