I'm grateful to hear to that, and if you're still interested in seeing the ending—it's the end of the jam anyway—here's a dev walkthrough:
(I'll take it down if an admin tells me to, though)

Thank you! Thanks for playing too

The one game I saved for last, and it did not disappoint. The art style is charming (Sorry for the accidental play on words) the audio is wonderful, and the gameplay is straight up fun (played as hugs)

I also admire how it doesn't seem to borrow any assets, and every part of the game was handcrafted by the devs
Can really tell some care went into this, it's one of the 5/5's this jam for me. Amazing work

thank you, I'll take a note of that

Glad you had fun! I'll consider lowering the number of birds in the future, and add a substitute input control for arrow keys + Z & X

The thumbnail and the title made me doubt the game, but I was very wrong
This is one of my favorites and the way the pieces move and attack is satisfying.

I can't find anything wrong with this one. It's perfect for what it is and super polished

I think it's because I may have set the spawn at such a weird height on the flying letters, but I'm happy to hear you still liked the game.
Actually, the main inspiration I had was from Vampire Survivors, as I was planning to add a feature to upgrade the player after each wave, but I scrapped it because I didn't have enough time :/

You're too kind, bro. I'm happy you enjoyed it!

I appreciate it! I rebuild player controllers from the ground up every time I start a new jam — It's good to hear that this one felt nice on the controls too.

Not technically solo—I had a portrait artist, and I had a friend giving me feedback while I was making the game, even telling me to add a fursuit mascot jokingly, and I think it ended up being one of my favorite additions in there. 'Love the review

Thank you! I'm happy that the pixel art pulled it through too, since my portrait artist did a fantastic job

thank you)

With a lot of other great submissions here too, this means a lot after taking a long ass break from game dev :D

So glad you enjoyed it, even though it seems the wave 1 restart issue is the biggest glare I'm noticing

Haha, thank you! My biggest worry at first was the dialogue.
I'll make sure to add a save function next time I update the game

YOO thank you all for the comments! I'm busy right now with classes and helping my friends with their projects, so I forgot to reply earlier; I'll start responding to any future comments now

It's a shame there's another game in here super similar to this.

The vibes are chill, and adding sound effects + a little more polish on the UX of the UI to be as well-done as the art would have made it perfect — yet I'm still rating the art a 5/5.

Yooo, I love chess. Didn't expect one about chess here

This is one of the ones I enjoyed playing the most. The logic for the AI moving out of the way and avoiding the marks was well implemented. Even though the game became trivial when I realized you can place the X / O mark on the pieces themselves, and it'll follow with them while they move, I still dig it

I was going to complain about the board color and how the black pieces blend in, but an option to change the background color profile to something like Lichess' nullified that.

Very good game

Best art and aesthetic hands down. It's so sweet and everything just mixed so well — I thought it would go straight to an oven. I respect how the girl rejects pictures with other guys in them, but I swear, if she ever learns Photoshop, I might finally complete level three. Making the bystanders more forgiving would make it more enjoyable, still great nonetheless.

Love the player controller! Super smooth. It reminds me of Super Meat Boy and old Newgrounds games like Fireboy and Watergirl. It's cute—like the intro cutscene—but it was pretty hard; I think it would put some people off who playtest your game (I speak from experience with my first game, haha...) But for me, the difficulty was just about right

[ Completed it in around 15-20 mins ]

PS: It's running fine — Not so sure what the other comment is saying. I'm on my M2 MacBook Air :P

Edit: Can't rate it right now, though. I'll get back to it after I play a few more games :/

Patched it now that the jam has ended, thanks for the feedback ;)

Alright, I can't edit the game during the jam - but I'll make sure to add a skip option using space when the jam is over. The feedbacks were greatly appreciated ;)

Aight, notify me

I love the humorous story, the dialogue is impeccable! One thing I would like to add though is that I can't really see.. anything half the time :/ He may be a neurosurgeon, but he is high on drugs~ (I tried both versions 1.1 and 1.0) The gameplay is great though, and the punchlines are on point. Nice game.

The game mechanic is very smooth and fluid to play, and the animations for the player are great. But the music is a bit ehhhh? (I can relate to that though, since I also have some rather... off music. )

Just wish there were levels or a clear tutorial for this game because it had a cool and fun premise. (The areas where you teleport multiple times mid-air was fun!)

I love the art style! The pixel art retro vibe is amazing on this one (especially the music), and the different attack patterns you can use are satisfying. My only main issues are how the enemies just... appear out of nowhere like John Cena, and every time you die, you have to walk across 10 miles to get back to where you came from. But everything else is perfect, well done. ^-^

The platforming is very smooth, and the audio and visuals fit it really well. (reminds me of doodle jump + Megaman, lol) Perhaps a way to explore more of the different types would be nice. But cool game nonetheless!

PS: No need to say it's bad because the mechanic is great. Just polish up on effects, such as enemy death particles, hearts for the player, box snapping into place, etc. And I can see this being a real game. This has so much potential that even I am kind of tempted to steal the idea from...

Very cool game! The mechanic is unique; it reminds me of the gravity gun in Portal, except it's a top-down shooter. My only complaint is that the box is kind of janky sometimes, and for a bullet hell game, the character is very slow (perhaps a way to dash with the impulse or something?) But overall, a great game :)

This fish is going to give me nightmares! The feel is amazing. The 25 fishermen part was a bit tedious, but overall, the progression to the end was great.  My only suggestion is to change the screenshots to fit the horror-esque vibe more; it might have put people off from trying to play it since it looks childish at first glance.

Damn, thanks for the kind words!

Thank you for the detailed review! I'll also add your suggestions into consideration after the jam ends. Instead of colliding, I could knock them back to add more juice and add an option to change the mouse instead.

The audio and the story just hit the feels for some reason, but I wish there was an option to change the text speed and the audio volume. Nonetheless, this is amazing.

I love the feel and art style! It looks very polished.

The cute art and soothing audio are fantastic, and It has a pretty unique concept. But I just wish there was a bit more spice to the gameplay element. Nice game overall though!

Cool concept! The fishing gameplay reminds me of Stardew Valley ^-^. My only concern is the art, and how some of the UI is buggy. (Especially the bar, it glitches near the bottom sometimes.)

This is one of the best games I've seen here. My only complaint is that it takes too long to transform, but everything else is great! Especially the art.

I love the art style and the sound effects! The gameplay felt pretty smooth as well, especially with the slow-down mechanic. Overall, great game

Great game! The art and the fonts are a bit wonky at times, but the premise is very fun
