This game truly makes you feel like you are running rain

Using a different time signature for each track is pretty cool, I like the way you use inspirations form a variety of soundtracks to bring together a cohesive OST.

Out of Time sounds a bit like some of the older works of Waterflame btw, maybe that's the "something you heard that sounds like this" you are looking for :]

Glad you liked it, thanks for the feedback!

Thanks!

Truly conveys the feeling of falling in and out of a fever dream as you struggle to sleep. I'm not even sure if there is a way to fix the muddiness in the low end without taking away from the experience as the heavy, percussive bass clashing with the low end synths actually support the feeling of having a fever. Nice work overall!

I like the way it gives epic vibes without being over the top, I can imagine this playing during an important turning point in a story

Very cool story and fitting music, the orchestration is very good and the soundtrack is not afraid to slide into different genres when need be,  I like how you dropped an electronic track out of nowhere and made it work regardless. Clearly a lot of effort was put into the story too. Very good entry, nice work!

Both the music and the game's concept are very cool. Nice work!

Nice work! I like how the themes still feel connected despite having completely different styles

I didn't want to use a clock ticking as I figured everyone else would be using it so I decided to go creative, glad it worked out well! And glad you like it, thanks!

Thanks! I was loosely inspired by the soundtrack of Ready or Not so I decided to go for full on SWAT theme for the thumbnail :]

Definitely what I was going for, thanks!

Glad you felt the atmosphere I was going for, and thank you!

Thank you :]

Thanks!

I didn't want to go too melodic to keep the track more ambient, but I can't keep myself from including a melody once I come up with it intentionally or not :] Glad you liked the crossover, because I really like making them, thanks!

Thanks!

Nice!

thank you!

I really like mashing up genres, especially orchestra and electronic music, glad it worked out well, thanks!

I don't understand the hate this game gets. It's everything it claims to be.

The gameplay is smooth, the graphics blend the style of both games quite well and the soundtrack is awesome (tho it would be even better if it was a mashup of Half Life and Hotline Miami style instead of just synthwave, or maybe synthwave remixes of the Half Life 2 OST)

The gravity gun is fun to use and I don't think it being the only weapon hurts the gameplay. It's already way closer to Hotline Miami than Half Life 2, if we could pick up enemy weapons it would straight up be Hotline Miami with different textures.

I also like the idea of the game taking place in a City-17-ish Miami.

My only problem was the reaction time of the enemies, they will instantly flick and shoot without any delay even if they are facing the opposite direction. Zombies are way too easy to deal with. Gravity gun is also not a guaranteed one hit kill but it was also how it worked in Half Life so it's fine.

It only ever crashed once in my entire playthrough on a Win11 machine.

I would recommend it to any Hotline Miami fan, tho I'm not sure if I can say the same about Half Life fans. Very good game overall :]

Thanks for playing, and I really enjoyed your commentary :]

thank you for playing the game! your gameplay and feedback was really insightful

text just says "level complete, press any key",  thanks for the feedback :]

gray guy is the final boss you were so close :P

thanks for the feedback

thanks, hopefully one day :]

Pretty cool idea, both gameplay and the story. Played till the end.

Music, visuals and sound design were pretty good. The sound effects when you hover over a building are a nice touch, they abruptly cut when you hover over something else tho.

In it's current state it's kind of an overpowered strategy to build a semi decent food + material source, then to continuously build houses and churches in a checkerboard pattern, as this gives you a practically infinite source of light. This doesn't take away from the fun tho

Also you are using the exact same setup I used (LMMS, Audacity, Godot and Aseprite), very cool :]

very good game overall, great job

I love that intro screen (Also Godot, which is nice). Liked the atmosphere but some ambient sounds would make it 10 times more intense. The house is very difficult to navigate through, a map would be nice

It's kinda difficult to tell which item can be used where, and none of the items I found could remove the planks on the final door. The lock on the final door cannot be opened even with the correct passcode unless the player visited all the rooms with passcode digits. This is clearly intentional and is up to the designer but I think letting the players get away with finding 2 digits and brute forcing the last one also gives a different sense of accomplishment

Character design is really good, the monster's design is in a perfect balance that avoids both "too unique and outlandish to be scary" and "too generic and boring".  Chase theme is pretty good too

Good game overall :]

this one is impressive, the animations on the dragon are so fluid, character controls are limiting but still gives the player enough freedom, the entire thing feels like a mini dark souls boss fight

Didn't find much use for plants even after reading the descriptions tho, I just spam used all the good ones and didn't pick up the bad ones, throwing them at the dragon is not very viable as it's flying around constantly. The heal flower thingy was fun tho, it makes you vulnerable while you are healing up, and the dragon also has to use them to heal up which is pretty cool

would highly recommend changing the way we start the fight tho, hitting someone while they are sleeping just feels wrong :[

Very solid game regardless, good job

nice smooth controls, the character felt a bit slow but it's probably for the best since 64x64 limits visibility significantly. Levels are quite big for a jam game which is impressive. Some music would be nice tho

nice, simple, effective, game loop. Visuals nail that retro NES feel. people in the background cheering when we make the jump is a cute little detail

110 personal best :]

[SPOILERS, I would recommend playing it first without reading anything about it]

pretty cool little horror game, I love steam effect on the mirror. The moment I realized I can't clear the mirror anymore in night 5 was quite impactful. Doing your tasks while keeping the ghost away is a nice multitasking challenge

the only problem for me was that I couldn't get it to display fullscreen, kinda breaks immersion

Very good game overall

not being able to aim with a mouse makes it an extra challenge to hit the drones higher up, which makes it very satisfying when you shoot them. drone variety is pretty good, and debuffs keep the player from relying too much on one weapon. zap felt a bit underpowered, I only ever used it as a last resort to shoot the drones that were just about to get their intel. The fog obstructing the view is pretty cool

good game overall

The little skill check to catch the fish prevents the waiting from being frustrating. after waiting for a while, it's quite satisfying to successfully react in a split second. Also love the day/night cycle.

Also Godot :]

It looks cool, and a first person Kaiju simulator sounds interesting

Thank you, I was considering implementing a reload mechanic but since the game doesn't punish the player for staying in cover for too long in it's current state, it just kinda slowed the game down without being an extra challenge for the player so I decided to keep it out of this version.

Also had speedrunning in mind, my personal best is 1:21.50, you can find the video in the game's page if you are interested :]

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it :]

Nice music and visuals. Combat was a bit hard to understand at first tho. Pretty good game once you have a grasp of the combat system. and PICO-8 is the absolute perfect tool for this jam :]
