Game is cool, but I think adding a small tutorial or a screen that tells you what each button does would be super helpful. I understand that the double button probably just doubles my score, but is there any reason I shouldn't just have that and the others on all the time? It also doesn't seem like there is a reason to do any less than 5 dice at once. Putting an incentive to take risks, like using less dice, would add a lot to the game. I do like that the faces on the dice change as they're rolling though, that's a great touch!

I think the premise is cool, but it falls a little flat. I would recommend separating the sound from the bullet so it doesn't get cut short when the bullet gets destroyed before the sound finishes. If you put the fire point separate from the guns position OR make the animation for the shoot reset when you shoot it will help a lot with the shooting in the air problem. Last thing is the tank controls, I think keeping it like that is cool and different, but it also turns too fast which makes it very hard to control.

This game has a lot of charm and I can appreciate how many sprites you were able to make in the time frame, especially as a solo dev! There are a lot of great small details in this, like the treasure pile getting bigger and bigger the more money you deposit and the particles (even if they're just squares) add to the feedback. I know the sword only becomes visible when it is ready to be swung, but I would recommend maybe having a meter or have the sword slowly become more visible as it gets ready to be used and maybe having an extra effect to let you know when its ready. Last big thing I would say is to lock the players cursor to the screen, especially because a way of dealing big damage is to swing the sword around wildly. Overall I really liked this game and its charm, great job Colton!

I like that you are kind of forced into being aggressive since your health is tied to enemy deaths in a way. I'd also heavily recommend not making the shoot sound linked to the bullet because it gets cut off early if the bullet breaks before the sound ends, also adding a tiny bit of randomness to the pitch of the sound makes it a lot less repetitive. I know that you were on a heavy time crunch, but making it so the health drops bounce out of the corpse and making them grow to full size rather than popping in would make it a lot more seamless. Overall great project for game jam! good job :)

Its nice to see a game jam go with a level style gameplay especially since making levels takes more time than randomly generating some stuff. The art and small sounds are very pleasing, but putting some music and maybe giving more of an incentive to keep the coins would add a lot.

The idea for the game and execution of it was good! I think having to balance paying attention to what button to press while making sure you click the pickaxes is tough and fun, but I have a few notes:

  • The music makes it difficult to focus and can be rough on the ears at times.
  • The jump in difficulty between difficulties is pretty brutal
  • I think it would be cool to only show what score and rating you got rather than showing all the ratings at once

This was a simple and easy game to learn, great job with that! I think mixing up the spawn style of the orbs would have been a nice touch, maybe spawning in clusters or making the spawn locations a little more scattered vertically. I did find myself playing a little longer than I expected because I wanted to see how fast I could make my little guy move. Good work!

I tried very hard to play the game. Pulled the repository, downloaded a new Unity version, tried playing from main menu, start button didn't work (the part that makes the sound). It did say a bunch of stuff might be corrupted though. Sorry it didn't work out. I would also recommend making a set of install instructions.

Thank you so much for the compliments, We really appreciate it!!The whole "bug" thing is that you are the only robot that can "OVERLOAD" your weapon, AKA reloading gains you an amount of bullets equal to your max ammo, so if you reload when you have 5 bullets in a 6 bullet magazine you will have 11 afterward.

couldn't get past the visual novel mushroom. The game was neat and the typing game made me mad, great job!

I think the game could be very interesting, but I wish the command window had some ease of use options to quickly rewrite lines or some autocomplete features for website names.

The zip file you post has to have all of the build files not just the .exe of the game. It should look something like this!

Just wanted to let you know you need to post the zip of the build not just the .exe

was told to "think outside the box" so I walked into a corner and fell into the void :(

OH WOW! Best confounding calendar game on here. Cool callback at the end.

the audio caught me so off guard

Trust me, part way through making this I realized the idea wasn’t that great and thought the exact same thing, but it was too late to change ideas. Towards the end I really didn’t want to keep working on it because it felt like a cop out. If I did end up remaking it I 100% would go for you actually trying to beat the player in as little lives as possible while the player still gets the upgrades or something. Thank you for the feedback, I really do appreciate it!
